Typically what time are the BCV ready for occupancy? Can arrive anytime b/c we're staying at Grandparents the night before. Just wondering what time we should plan on showing up? I was thinking of arriving early to let kids swim at pool but it would be nice to unpack luggage before getting wet. Thank you!!!
Long time lurker...newbie poster princess:

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question- hopefully others here can give their experiences from past stays at the villas.

I just wanted to say :welcome:

If you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, let us know your dates. :yay:

:welcome: Both times we visited the BCV, we checked in around 11 a.m. and one time the room was ready at 2:30 p.m. and the other time not until 4 p.m. I've heard people say it is usually later at the BCV because it is a smaller resort and it is often fully booked.

Long time lurker...newbie poster princess:

You are welcome to come and check in early in the morning (7 AM is fine). Check in time for the villas is 4 PM which means the room might not be ready until that time. However, once you get there and check in, you'll receive your keys which will give you access to the pool. We have a health club and there are lockers and changing facilities there. You can also check your luggage with bell services. Spend the day at the pool or the parks or both. Your room could be ready in the AM but that doesn't happen very often because the BC Villas are almost always at 100% occupancy. It's rare that a room is vacant and able to be cleaned much before 11 AM which is check out time. But please come and check in early and then enjoy WDW or just the resort!

Is SAB a salt water pool?

My son (15 yrs old) does not like saltwater pools. I think it is all in his head, but he insists he doesn't like them.

If SAB is saltwater I'm not going to tell him and see if he notices. ;)

Yachtsman Steakhouse will be closed from Aug. 27-Sept. 14, 2012 (please note, dates are subject to change).

Cape May Café at Disney' Beach Club Resort will be closed from July 9-August 4, 2012, for refurbishment (please note, dates are subject to change).

The above two are the announcements officially made. However, the managers at Cape May Cafe are still saying 7/9 to 8/9.

Oh, i hope it's not! We have BF reservations on 8/9!!
If it is still closed will the help to try to get us in someplace else, or will be on our own??

SAB isn't salt water, you should be fine!

If you have reservations, then I assume it's planned on being open. I would imagine if it gets close to 8/8 and 8/9 and it looks like it won't be open, they will be calling people. I can't imagine they would allow people to walk up with a reservation to a closed restaurant. Not Disney (IMO).

I assume since it's in print for 8/4, the Cape May people may have been given their dates before the official announcement in writing went out.

If I had a reservation for 8/9, I wouldn't worry. But anybody that knows construction, rehab, etc. knows that things can change at any given moment but Disney is really good in my opinion about keeping the public notified.

We haven't had any pictures of Teena's grandaughter Princess Lily lately!

Well here she is,

In breaking news, Lily is crawling now:

Are others having trouble entering the OMDD contest (by computer) this morning?

I had trouble with communications errors yesterday, but eventually got my entry in. So far no luck today.

I am also pretty surprised with the Question of the Week this week.

What would you do with One More Disney Day?
Ask if I can ride in the front seat of the Monorail.
Ride the train around the Park just like Walt used to do.
Take the kids exploring through the tree house.
Have a couple of hot dogs at Casey's Corner.

Cant wait! I check into BCV on Thursday for Princess Half weekend! SAB calling my name!

Good luck on your run!

I have a shopping question....

I would like to take a brief step outside of WDW to go to the Orlando Premium Outlet mall one afternoon. We won't have a car, so I'm wondering about transportation.

Does the mall have a shuttle bus service to the BC/YC or the Swan/Dolphin? If not, I assume our best option will be to take a taxi.

Bumping this up.

Have you checked the website for the mall to see if they list any transportation options/suggestions?

I mentioned a few days back that I had read that the Yachtsman was to close to have a new floor. Its now been confirmed with the dates:

Yachtsman Steakhouse to Undergo Refurbishment
Beginning on Aug. 27, 2012, the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney's Yacht Club Resort will be closed for refurbishment through Sept. 14, 2012. The Yachtsman Steakhouse is expected to reopen on September 15, 2012. See more Walt Disney World refurbishments on our WDW Rehab and Closure page.

Thanks for alerting us to this. So it looks like that means you should be all set for your wedding dinner, right? :woohoo:

She is so cute! I can't believe she is crawling already - time flies so fast.

Premium Outlets site indicates they have a shuttle bus to Lake Buena Vista hotels, but doesn't say which ones.

I'm guessing we will just taxi, but I thought I would check, just in case.

Thanks for the bump!

Teena,

You better get your running shoes on for the next visit with the "Princess". She is going to be all over before you know it!!!

That is one beautiful baby.

I have never been able to enter the contest, not even by text. It's open to Canadian residents but I have tried dozens of times, with different browsers, and no dice.

Lily is beautiful!

Sent my flight info to the other family that is traveling with us and no email in reply. I'm not sure what's up with them... We love them, but I can only plan for my own family, KWIM? All my ADRs are for 8, and I know they wanted to do CRT (no princess fans in my house so not a priority for us!) but I'll bet they haven't booked anything. Maybe I'll gently suggest Akershus... I'd hate their DD to be disappointed. I looked two character breakfasts - one Cape May and the other CP so she will have those if they tag along. They are NOT early risers and the last trip they did to Disney they didn't know about FPs or anything and spent the days wandering through the parks. They are going to get quite a jolt if they follow me around!!! LOL

Can someone here give me step by step instructions for posting pics?? sorry, it's almost impossible to teach this old dog new tricks!!!

Another family might be going for our June trip and I am so worried. I am just going with that we will do our best but since they are taking so long to decide, I am not going to mess up our plans on a maybe. I hope your friends decide soon!

I have been meaning to do this, so since you asked... here is what I do.

Set up an account in Photobucket or another similar site (smug mug). You can get a free account, but I had to update to a PRO Photobucket account after I took over the FAQ thread.

One you have set up an account, you can UPLOAD pictures to your album(s) You can upload to your main account (ocalla's photos, for example) or you can make various albums and subalbums:

For example: Disney Vacation 2011 (album)
Beach Club photos (subalbum)

UPLOADing the pictures is pretty easy- click upload and it will prompt you to browse the pictures you want- you go into the location on your computer where you are storing the pictures. To select multiple photos, I use the shift key (if the pictures are contiguous) or control key (if the pictures I want have ones I don't want in between).

After you upload, you will be prompted to "Save Photos and Return to album"

When you are in the album containing your photo, if you hover your cursor over the picture, it will give you several options, like MOVE, EDIT, SHARE.

You want to click on SHARE

Then go to GET LINK CODE

You want to use the option that says:

IMG for bulletin boards & forums. There will be a check box, then a box containing some gobbeldy-gook and it says “Full Size” next to it.

I double click to highlight the gobbled-gook, then right mouse-click to copy. This gives me the location address for the photo that can be used to insert the picture into my post on the DIS.

Paste the gobbeldy-gook into your post. (You can preview your post to see if it worked)

The gobbeldy-gook looks something like this:
<IMG>http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu294/accountname/picturename.jpg</IMG>

note- you will actually see brackets [, instead of braces< but the words won't show up if I use [] around the IMG.

One more note: I think these instructions will copy full sized photos. I have set my account to always copy “Large Size”, 360 x 480.
If we get you to the point of posting a photo, we can go back and do this last step.
Anyone who follows these instructions, or has better info, post here. I will add the info, along with the Double Quote tutorial, onto page 1 somehow.

So, I pretty much have our touring plans nailed down, and naturally, as we are staying at BC, we have alot of meals scheduled in WS. We are getting hoppers, so I was wondering....
Several nights, we will be going to MK, but have dinner at WS...based on past experience...I do not think that the walk from WS to the monorail at the front of the park is too bad...probably about 10 minutes, right??
Well, wouldn't it be quicker for us to finish dinner and just head to the monorail to get to MK, instead of walking back to the resort bus station, waiting for bus and getting over there??? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can anyone tell me if the clocks that are in the rooms are iPod docks? I'm trying to figure out how to charge the iPods while we're there for our flight home, hoping that the clocks will be the answer.....:goodvibes

In Oct. we took a taxi from DTD & then back to POR & it was around $18.00 total. It was a rainy morning & a great day for shopping. Got some great buys!:goodvibes
