Mmmm. Strawberry. I love jelly donuts. I remember when I was a kid, they used to have them in the frozen section of the supermarket. You would heat them up, and I loved eating them when they were still a little warm.
Our local store stocks a particular type of jelly donut which is delicious. It is strawberry filled and the donut part is so tasty. I have no idea what the recipe would be for it. But at a few hundred calories too, I haven't had one in months.
I don't care what type of jelly just as long as it does not have powdered sugar on the outside. Ugh! It makes a mess, gets all over and does nothing for the taste.
But I would far prefer a maple cream filled. YUMMMM!
I love donuts! But not jelly donuts. I love the deep fried cruller donuts that we called "plain donuts" when we were kids. Yum!
Also, there is NOTHING like a fresh, hot Krispy Cream glazed donut...there's a Krispy Kreme shop about a mile from my house. You can smell the donuts as you drive by.
You just can't compare a store-bought boxed Krispy Kreme (publix sells them) to a fresh-baked Krispy Kreme.
Sorry to hijack your thread and turn it into a Krispy-Kreme thread!
If it's got to be jelly then it should be raspberry filled with powdered sugar on it.
But what I really like are fresh crullers with a chocolate dipped top.
