I posted this on a different section of the forum. But maybe someone here will be able to help.

Right now, disneyworld.com only allows for searching through December 31st, 2009.

Does anyone know when they allow for searching in January 2010?

They have not released rates for 2010 yet. Look for them sometime in Aug. 2009. You can book 500 days out but the rate will not be guaranteed.

I wonder if room rates will go up. Did they change from 2008 to 2009 or are they the same?

I was able to book room only for March 2010 at POFQ
Yes, the rate will change - but who knows what the rates will be or what packages will be available

2009 has some great rates - maybe 2010 will also have some too

I hope so. We went in January 2008 and it was fantastic. We can't go again until January 2010 though.

Just to make it clear. You can call now and book a room only reservation for Jan 2010. You can't use the web site but can call disney and make a reservation. If you are going to want a package, it probably is not worth it, since they can't transfer the deposit from a room only to a package reservation. But if you want to, you can make the reservation now.

The only reason to book now for January 2010 would be if there is a specific room type that is typically very popular or in limited supply that you want, or if there are specific dates that you absolutely must have. An example would be Marathon Weekend which is the second weekend in January. I would book now for that weekend, if you are after a specific type of room.

If you know that you want a room only reservation, then the advantage is that you are sure that you have the room. You can also make payments and have the room somewhat paid off before you arrive. If you know that you will want a package, then there may not be any advantage because the early reservation you make will need to be cancelled, your deposit refunded and a new reservation made.
