Curious -- why did you daughter choose to switch from BWI to BC? We are having the same dilemma ... which resort with club level.

We're booked into a Garden View CL room. We requested a King Bed... any chance we'll get it? I hear there are also single queen bed rooms on the CL level... are those Garden View?

We really want a 1 bed room - what should we request?

It's supposed to open "early Feb" and we're wondering if it's going to be on time (or early?) Don't these kinds of refurbs frequently open early?

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It has taken me quite awhile to get through it but I have learned so much. I cannot wait to stay at BC!! Summer can't get here soon enough! :yay:

:welcome:

Welcome to the thread!

They were still working on it today. I've heard nothing yet about an early opening ... it shows as February 10th on the notices I've seen.

Ohhh noooo!! I heard it was opening Feb 7 when the BW slide went down for refurb....so then the BW ppl would have access to the BC slide and visa versa! (BC slide refurb will give us use of the BWI slide) :confused3
I was kind of hoping since we are there FEB 5-10, we'd have the chance to try BOTH slides! (BC and BWI) :goodvibes

ETA: Here is the info I read giving me that impression that they would each be done when the other was ready to go under re-furb:

Stormalong Bay Pool Slides: 01/03/11 - 02/06/11
The pool slide and kiddie slide will be closed to Guests for refurbishment. During this time, Guests may continue to enjoy the rest of the Stormalong Bay pool complex, the two leisure pools, or enjoy the feature pool and slide at the neighboring Disney's BoardWalk Resort.

Luna Park Pool Slide: 02/07/11 - 03/16/11
The pool slide will be closed to Guests for refurbishment. During this time, Guests may continue to enjoy the rest of the Luna Park pool, the two leisure pools, or may enjoy the feature pool and slide at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts.

The kitchenette gives you a little more 'counter' space but all they have in them is a fridge, coffee maker and microwave (paper plates and cups). It is my understanding you can request a microwave at any deluxe and you already have the other two (albeit a little smaller). Now a 1BR at BCV and a full kitchen..... :lovestruc

There are so many choices and it's very overwhelming since this is our first trip. I really appreciate all of the help with what each room would offer. The kitchenette isn't what I was expecting. Thanks for pointing out what it was. We wanted a 2 bedroom villa to share with the family going with us, but there are none available for the pin code we received. Hopefully this will make their decision easier.
Thanks again and for the welcome. Maybe after our trip we can return the favor and offer some information to others newbies like ourselves.:)

I noticed when I started looking at the Villa options with the pin# last year and even this year with the public offer, 2 bdrms seem to be the least available, but I would keep checking since inventory does change constantly, you just never know. I do recommend do not hesitate if a 2bdrm becomes available, since it can be gone in the blink of an eye, happened to me last year with a 1 bdrm at BLT and this year at WLV, in the time it took me to check with DH it had been snatched up

Good Luck

Also, DS's love DisneyQuest and DTD is a late evening for us. Is it better to take a bus directly from YC/BC or to walk to Epcot or DHS and bus from there? How are the buses? Who do we share with for DTD. Are water parks overkill with SAB? Thanks for any help. We are really trying to make a decision soon.

Here is our experience with the buses. When we are on vacation at Disney, we rely exclusively on Disney transportation, with an occasional taxi if we have an early (7 am or 7:30) breakfast reservation at another resort. We have generally been really happy with the bus transportation to MK and AK- we are at the bus stop by 7:30 each morning in order to get to the EMH park for the day, and we make rope drop.

As far as DTD goes- we have had no issues with the bus from BC TO DTD. We DETEST the bus back from DTD to the BC (or any resort for that matter when we have stayed elsewhere). The buses don't seem to arrive quickly, they are usually crowded- often with guest who have enjoyed a libation or two. If Typhoon Lagoon is still open, it stops there first, and then may have a few stops before the BC. Can't remember. Only did this once.

But we have a strategy that saves our sanity, and trips to DTD: We take one of the resort boats from DTD to Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. Then we get a bus to EPCOT and make our way through the park back to the Beach Club. Of course, 1) you need park hoppers if you have visited another theme park that day 2) you must time it so EPCOT is still open 3) It probably takes longer than the bus would, but it is a pleasant, peaceful ride. I don't know what a "late night" is for you- for me it is 9 PM, but there is always the option of a taxi, which I'm guessing would run under $20 plus tip.

The other bonus. We plan our DTD day on a morning we have visited EPCOT. Before we leave, we pull a FP for Soarin before we leave the park and return to the BC and then, when we arrive at EPCOT after DTD, we can enjoy that attraction on our way back "home"

OK, that is my tip for today!

*********************************************************

Regarding the Water Parks- It is probably hard for anyone other than you to answer whether the waterparks are overkill. How old are your sons? The last two years, we have purchased the water park fun and more tix. If you are definitely going to Quest, the WPF&M is not too much more than the cost of a single admission. Animal Kingdom is a half-day park for us, so we love going to Blizzard Beach after Animal Kingom. Almost all of the buses FROM AK in the afternoon will stop at BB before going to a resort. So when we leave AK, we just get on the first bus (any resort), confirm with the driver that he is going to BB and we are there in 7 or 8 minutes.

Hi Teena - not sure if you can help. I mentioned to you last week about our wanting a garden view room instead of a standard view room but the UK travel agents are just selling standard or water view rooms! My travel agents have finally come back to me to say if we change our booking to a garden view room we will lose free dining as it is only a promotion on standard view or water view rooms? Why would this be - seems absurd! I am so annoyed as we booked a standard view room knowing that we could request a specific area but now the rooms have changed we're basically guaranteed an area we don't want! Help

I was looking into paying cash for a 2 bedroom at BCV for the summer and also found that none were available with the discount codes. For now we're staying at BLT in a one bedroom (it'll be our 1st trip as an "official" family of 5 since Zachary will be 3 by then). I wish the one bedrooms at BCV accommodated 5!
As the kids get older I think we'll be fine in a regular room although we were spoiled by our recent CL stay (it was at Poly - I know I'm so disloyal!) so that might be our future! My daughter (who is turning 5 this weekend) keeps asking if we can go back to BC. :thumbsup2

Both will not be down at the same time. SAB could open on 2/1. All I'm saying is the sign at the BC says 1-3 to 2-10. They usually open earlier than anticipated but they aren't going to tell us that because we could get steady rain and 30 degrees for the next ten days and if that were to happen, then it would not open until 2-10 or even later. So it could be almost done as we speak ... I could go in this morning and it could be open. DON'T PANIC!!!!!! One of the slides will be open while you are there and both could be open.

I think you will like CL at the BC as much, if not more.

I have no idea. Did you try to book it yourself on line or call Disney yourself and ask about booking a garden view with free dining? (Don't tell them you are already booked.) Or you could call a US travel agent and try booking through them maybe? I'm sorry I don't really know anything about UK bookings or travel agents.

I understand you being upset because you are definitely guaranteed a parking lot or roof view with the standard view and if you spend lots of time on the balcony looking out at the view, then that would be upsetting. Water view is quite a lot more so I get that you wouldn't switch to that. If the view is really important, then I would definitely try to book it myself on line or call Disney yourself and try to book a new reservation and see what they offer you. Then you can cancel your first reservation.

Thanks Teena - I think I'll give reservations a call. Because we're there for 21 nights though I think booking via disney us does not allow us a package that long inlcuding dining.
I think we may have to accept the standard view and pray that we can pay to upgrade when we check in,
Thanks

I do not think we can do that at check-in because we don't have access to your UK packages and can't rebook them. We could upgrade you for free if there were availability but to have that availability for 21 nights would be a real long shot. There are less garden views than any other views.

You can book two separate reservations back to back to get dining that way and you could purchase annual passes which would be cheaper than 21 night hoppers for sure. Try calling a US travel agent and have them piece meal the whole thing for you with annual passes. If you need a number for someone I totally trust, just send me a PM.

Curious -- why did you daughter choose to switch from BWI to BC? We are having the same dilemma ... which resort with club level.

She decided to switch for a couple of reasons. Let me just say first that we LOVE the BWI club level. We have stayed there many times and will be staying there as a family in May. One of the reasons she switched was that, since we will be at the BWI in May, her and her friend wanted something different. Also, the pool is amazing at the BC, so that was another reason for the switch. Our family has not stayed at the BC since 2005, and it has been refurbished since then, so I am curious to hear what DD thinks.
I loved our two stays at the BC and we absolutely love the BWI, so I don't think you could go wrong with either. I just think the pool is better at the BC. Hope that helps!

I have similar files!! A bit shorter than 20 pages though. :teeth:

We used that exit/entrance many times! It is a great tip ::yes::, though could be difficult for some to find. :thumbsup2
(oh how I miss hearing "wicked"....from Boston, now in NC 5 yrs this summer. Miss home very much).

Well right now it is "Wicked Cold" in Central MA :rotfl2:!
I am staying at the Villas in July and will be looking for this secret passageway!:thumbsup2

Amanda - I think you will LOVE BC CL!!!

We're a family of 5 and never feel too crowded in a regular room. If you are looking for extra space in a regular room did you check if there were any discounts on the deluxe cl room at BC? Lots of extra space, still cl privileges, and best of all - SAB!!!
