Okay - I've read just about every post in this thread - and I have one question that I didn't see -- which tells me I may a few issues I need to address if this is on my list --

So - I'll be there 8 days -- partly for a conference, mostly for some fun -- but I have to wear "business" clothes and Disney clothes. So just *how* many clothes hangers should I expect to find in the closet at the BC?? Should I just throw a few of my own in the suitcase?

I know.. issues. But I really really hate to iron! :laundy:

Thanks!

M. princess:

I use hangers for my sundresses and to hang our laundry bags each trip. We stayed at BC twice this year, and I remember something between 6-8 hangers. Hope this helps - someone else may have a better recollection!

I have never stayed at BC or YC before but I have stayed at Pop Century and there were not enough hangers so I called Mousekeeping and they brought way more than I needed. I would assume it would work the same way here, but maybe someone could agree/disagree.

Yes, that has been my experience as well. I used to think 10 was the standard # of hangers at a WDW resort but lately have usually been pleasantly surprised with perhaps 10 standard hangers and maybe 4-6 with hooks. If I need more, I just call.

Issues??? Here are PICTURES of the closets!

It looks to me like there are 5, but as others have suggested, it should be easy to request a few more from mousekeeping.

Plus an iron and board, just in case.

Dee, I've taken lots of pictures of lots of things but I have to admit I've never thought of taking a picture of the closet.

Merriwthr, I usually thow a half-dozen of the cheap ones I get from the cleaners in my bag and leave them behind so I would think housekeeping has plenty by now to run up to your room should you need some more.

I apologize for going completely OT with this, but everyone here is so friendly and I'm in the midst of panicking/irritation and was hoping someone would have some advice. I just found out our AirTran flight has been changed and we'll now be leaving 1 1/2 hours later than originally scheduled. I have the option of either accepting this change or receiving a refund. So, I looked into a Southwest flight and found something almost identical to our original AirTran flight for $100 less (for the three of us). But ... DH is completely against the idea of possibly not sitting together. He'd rather pay $100 more and leave later. I realize 1 1/2 hours isn't a huge deal, but that means we now arrive in the afternoon instead of the morning. To me, the Disney freak, it's like losing an entire day!

So, what can you tell me about SW? Will the $10 extra I can pay for each person each way "guarantee" we'll be able to sit together? Someone else told me they won't separate families. Is that true? I should probably mention DD is 16 so it's not like she's a toddler. Anything else you can tell me about SW?

AirTrashcan- ick! They may not be done changing your times yet. We went through this with our July flight. Initial flight time from Orlando to Boston direct was 2 PM to 5 PM. Several time changes later (the first ones just a few hours earlier) ended up with an 11 AM flight to Atlanta, layover and arrival home at 5 PM. So we had to leave BC 3 hours earlier than planned and cancel our Cape May breakfast :(

There were no reasonably priced alternative flights by the time they made this change. I would jump on the SW option! But then again, I readily volunteer to sit away from my family if necessary with a book for a quiet, undemanding flight if you know what I mean!

Unfortunately AirTrans(hcan) isn't the only one changing flight times as the airlines shuffle schedules to fill seats with fewer flights. The Delta flight I have from Cincinnati to Orlando changed so many times I quit trying to adjust my arrival schedule. I think we now leave on Sunday at about a half-hour later than originally booked but our return flight is one hour earlier than I had wanted making our final day's activities difficult to plan for. It seems leaving WDW at 2 is easier to plan for than leaving at 1, I don't know why, but it is.

Thanks to everyone for the responses... and pictures!! lol I think I'll throw a few of the cheapy hangers in my suitcase - and leave them behind - this way I'll have a little more space for Christmas presents!! :santa:

I have two days of work this week... and leave on Saturday.. not sure I can make it... I am just toooo excited to concentrate on work! :rotfl:

Well, we are a mere 10 days from the day we leave for WDW and the YC! Which means, in 1 more day we'll be able to check the extended forecast to see how the weather might be. Of course, we know Florida weather can change quickly, so we expect a few rainy days in our 10-day trip. As long as it stays warm during the day, I'll be happy :)

We always travel SW down to Disney. This past Sept, there were 4 of us so only one of us paid the extra $10 for early boarding and he saved seats for the rest of us. We did check in and print our boarding passes right at the 24 hour mark but we were put at the end of the A group and one of us was in the B group so it did pay off to have one of us pay the $10 for early boarding. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone for such great info. on this thread. We stayed 5 nights in a 1bedroom at Kidani Village and 3 nights water/lake view at the Yacht Club. We requested "near lobby" at both places and got great rooms that matched our requests.

We were a little nervous about moving from a vacation villa to a standard room, as we thought the YC room would seem tiny in comparison. We were pleasantly surprised. At the YC, we got room 1163, which is right next to a "secret entrance" which we used a lot. It was fabulous not having to go through the lobby, where the kids would get distracted by the videos..... We also got to watch them setup for a wedding at the gazebo right outside our room, which started just as we were leaving today. Although we were on the 1st floor, we had a great view of Illuminations from our patio.

Thanks Teena for the pin - our daughter enjoyed wearing it. We didn't see any fellow DISers though :-(

We are owners at Bay Lake, but the YC is now a close 2nd for us. Loved the room, the service, the theming, the location, SAB, etc.

This was also a great week to go. We followed Tour Guide Mike's crowd levels and as always, had little to no waits. On a Magic Kingdom day, we arrived at 11am and had 5 minute waits to ride Space Mtn. 4 times in a row. On our Animal Kingdom day, we arrived at rope drop and walked on Everest 4 times in a row with no wait. Well, I didn't actually get to ride either of them - I'm 24 weeks pregnant, but the others had a great time riding many rides over and over without a wait.

We also bought the Gingerbread House kit from the Beach Club Marketplace and look forward to doing that over the holiday weekend (thanks Teena!).

If anyone has any questions, let me know if I can help. I likely won't spend much time on Disboards for awhile, as I find it just makes me want to book another trip and with the baby coming, I can't do that right now. However, I'll check back to see if there are any questions for the next week or so.

Thanks again to everyone for helping us make this a fabulous trip!

First, thanks to all of you who responded. I still don't know what I'm going to do. I called the travel agent my company works for and he told me if it was him, he'd stick with the AirTran flight. He said SW is a good airline and he does a lot of business with him, but he couldn't disagree with me when I told him a co-worker told me their planes were nothing more than "cattle cars", i.e. little leg room, very tight seats. Maybe some of you who have flown with them can comment to that. Anyway, the other thing he told me is that it's entirely possible our flight will get put back to the original time before it's said and done. We have flown with AirTran before and have had NO problems. But I know you all know how I feel. We plan these vacations and we want to make the most of every minute we're at Disney and then the stupid airline comes along and wants to take some of those minutes away from us.

Living in Atlanta, I really don't have the opportunity to fly Southwest - I usually fly AirTrash and when necessary Dumpya (Oops... Delta). I don't like to fly as I'm a bit claustrophobic... and all airplanes are cramped cattle cars in my opinion. BUT - that being said, I did have to fly from Pittsburgh to Chicago recently and SW had the cheapest flight (of course). So after experiencing SW for the first time - I will definitely never fly them again. And if they change AirTrash to their ways, I will only have Dumpya left to fly.

I am a pooh-sized gal - and to say the seats were tight is an understatement. I have never had a problem on any airline before SW. I usually travel with one small carry-on and my purse -- I hate the folks that bring their largest luggage and then try to smash it into the overheads -- and SW has the smallest overheads I have ever seen on a plane. It was chaos getting everyone on board and their kitchen sinks stowed. I kept my carry-on under my seat, but I was the only one in my row that did that. Everyone else insisted on cramming their bags in the bins - and it took forever. Getting off the plane was just as chaotic. I waited quietly in my seat until over half the plane dug out their bags and de-planed before I even attempted to leave the plane. And even then - I got hit in the head by a gentleman removing his personal valet/kitchen sink from the bin.

Though I do hate flying - I choose AirTrash because they are always fairly on time (compared to Dumpya), have very few schedule changes, and can get folks on and off a plane orderly. Plus, they're not afraid to stop a passenger from bringing on their entire personal belongings and making them check their bags.

I travel several times a year for work and have had to deal with a few schedule changes - but when made several months prior to my trip - the changes always seem to change back to close to my original flight. Additionally, I've called AirTrash directly after a schedule change and spoken with an agent - and got a flight a little earlier than my original one.

So, don't despair - call AirTrash and see if they can accommodate you - believe me - they understand vacations at Disney!

Good luck - and have a great time!

Thanks, merriwthr. I think other than my co-worker you're the first one I've heard say something negative about SW and somehow that makes me feel better! At this point in time, DH and I have decided to stick with AirTran and hope they bump our flight back up to the original time. But if not, we're going to take it as a sign that the good Lord doesn't want us to have to get up at 4 in the morning and worry about traveling to the airport in possible traffic and snow. Plus, we have a very busy weekend, as in the three days before we leave, so maybe it's just better this way. We always go to the MK on our first day and we'll just get there when we get there and do what we can do. It's vacation, right? I shouldn't be stressing. I need to keep reminding myself that we are two adults and a 16 year old, in other words, no small children. It's not our first time there. We've been fortunate to ride a lot of rides and see a lot of things. To freak out about a couple hours is insane.

All I say is Air Tran - UGGGGGHHHHHH!

We went through a terrible ordeal with them last summer.

We had flown Air Tran for almost all of trips (13 times). When my dd broke her leg and we had to reschedule we had to pay over $500 changing flight fee even with a medical certification (she was in a long leg cast). No customer loyalty, no compassion - nothing.

WE WILL NEVER FLY AIR TRAN AGAIN!!!!!

we fly southwest all the time and we don't pay for the seat assignment or guaranteed A, we just online checkin 24 hours prior to our flight and we always sit together.

This past October coming back from WDW, one of our bags did not make it back with us, I was upset but the customer service rep did everything she could to make the situation better. Less than 3 hours later they called to tell me that my bag was at the SW desk and I could come get it and get a $50 credit in my name to be used on any flight or I could have it delivered to my house the next day.

Since we are only 20 minutes from the airport and I wanted my bag right away, I went to get it and the credit was there signed and ready for me.

I have flown SW over 100 times and I would do it again and again... I have 4 flights currently booked with them.

My personal countdown to happiness has gotten to five. Don't know how many times I'll be putting this list up between now and when I leave Sunday. Anyone want to jump on the bandwagon?

I didn't know it was possible, but I do believe that our vacation has completely snuck up on us! We've been so busy with life in general and a myriad of health issues for me (just had one abdominal surgery a few weeks ago and am looking at another very soon - as in, oh please, oh please, let me have this vacation!).

Anyway... so here we are! We fly out on Sunday and I can't wait!

Teena - I hope you are enjoying your well-deserved cruise! I hope we'll get to meet you again.

Katesdad - Thanks for asking about the shuttle launch, I have been wondering about that as well. We're at YC too, so I think we'll head out to the lake with my camera and see if I can get any good shots. Maybe we'll see you out there at that way-too-early of an hour. :)
