2010 Trip planners, unite!!!

We are planning a March 6-13 2010 trip. I am strongly considering POFQ.
It will be my husband and DD's first trip, they will be 4-1/2 and 7-1/2.

I went once in 1996 for 1 day with a friend and then 3 days with my family back when I was 13 in hmmmm... 1990, I think. LOL

I thought about booking a deal this August, I found a great rate with dining plan and cheap airfare, but I want to my little one to grow a little more for the rides, she is almost to 40 inches now. Also, we would rather go in the winter time to shake off our winter blues. I am hoping to find a good deal for March! I have become a planning addict, but that is my nature and I agree that planning is part of the fun!

WE'RE BOOKED!:yay::banana::yay::banana:

April 4 and 5, 2010, we are staying in 2 standard studios at AKV-Jambo. My parents get one and we get the other.

Then, April 6, 7, and 8 we are all staying in a 2BR standard at AKV-Kidani.

This will be my parents' first stay at AKV. In fact, they have never even seen it! I think they will be very impressed!:yay:

Wahoo, we signed our wedding contract with Disney and it's official! Our trip is going to be April 14, 2010 - April 27, 2010. The wedding's on the 19th! Yippee!!!!!:yay:

Hi I posted a few days ago on another 2010 thread - We are trying to set our dates now. Between exams, prom, graduation, May is out. We want to avoid Easter and Grad nites and the first 2 wks in June. It looks like we may try for March. Any suggestions of what and when to avoid?:confused3

Hi everyone! This is my first post on the disboards! My dh thinks I'm crazy for planning a 2010 disney vacation this early, but it's been YEARS since we last visited. So much has changed and there's so much to learn! I got a great deal on airfare out of BDL (Springfield, MA/Hartford) for April 17th - 24th for 219.19 round trip!! So I booked tickets, now to figure out the rest. We will be celebrating out 20th wedding anniversary and my son's 11th birthday! I'm leaning towards the Beach Club if there are some specials running. Otherwise we'll be looking at Port Orleans FQ. Does anyone know if there are usually specials the end of April and when I might start seeing those advertised? Also, is it best to call and book a room now? If a special comes up can I change? Also, is it best to book right through Disney or should I use a authorized agent like small world vacations?...see, I told you there is so much to learn!! Glad to see all of the other "crazy" people planning their 2010 vacations!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Hi and Welcome aboard....

Booking through an agent or directly through Disney is a matter of preference. If you choose to use an agent it would mean you will have someone doing your work for you.bookings..adrs etc,...lots of people have had great experiences using them. I prefer to book through Disney because for me that's part of the fun in planning.

As for specials....someone else here may be more knowledgable than I so I let them answer that.

Good luck with everything and happy planning.

Can I ask what airline you got that deal with? We usually drive down to Hartford, usually fly southwest. I'm just looking for other alternatives.

Thanks for starting this post.

I am planning our August 2010 trip. Like i've seen someone else note on this forum, "planning is half the fun," and I agree. We have been going once a year, and there is a long break between our '09 and '10 trips because we went in January of this year. Depending on finances, we are going to stay at either the POFQ or the Polynesian. We're considering the POFQ because of price and the boat to Downtown Disney. We like trying new resorts, we've never been to Downtown Disney and we expect we could use it for dinner and new fun most nights. We have gone in January the last two trips to take advantage of value prices and the lack of crowds. In '10 we are going to go in the value portion of August as school starts later in CT than most other places. We've experienced some pretty cold weather in our January trips and we have to pull the kids out of school to go then. We've never been during a peak season and really like taking advantage of the price advantage and the lack of crowds (more important than price in many ways) we have experienced so far in the value periods.

Laurie,
I booked online directly with Northwest this past Thursday. I priced airfare a couple of weeks ago and it was 365.20 with all fee's, per person, round trip non stop from BDL to MCO. When I saw it drop to 219.19, I grabbed it. That is spring vacation week for us here in Mass so I thought I'd better grab them while they were that cheap!! Good Luck and let me know how you make out!

:goodvibes We can hardly wait until next year for our next trip to the world! :guilty: everyone in our house is depressed that there will be no trip to WDW this summer but it will make next summer's trip that much nicer.

:3dglasses We havent decided on (1) the length of stay (2) which resort (3) driving or flying (4) if we take a side trip to universal. :confused3

We have previously done 6-7 nights and had a wonderful time, but  just yesterday I heard my DW in the phone telling someone that she wanted next summer's trip to be 8-10 day:banana::banana: I would just love a 10 day trip:worship:

We have stayed at the CBR once our first trip in 05 and at CSR twice in 06 and 08. I was thinking to use those reward dollars to up the resort level, but I think I would like a couple of extra days much more, what do you folks think? Would you do 6 -7 nights at the Poly (my wifes dream resort) or 8-10 nights at CSR (which we all loved)?

I am leaning towards driving this time around. :moped: I will have to do the math, :teacher: we live in near Syracuse, NY and I have a very good friend in Chesapeake VA that could be handy pit stop on either the way to or from disney, which would save one night in a hotel. I think driving would be an interesting experience, as "we" have never seen NC, SC, Ga, or Fl other than orlando. If the airfares are under a grand, I think flying is the way to go, over a grand, I think the savings get high enough to make the 4 days in the car worth it.

Any drivers from up state NY, how was the trip:confused:

Anyhow, its July 2010 for us! yipee:banana::banana:

We are planning a trip for Jan or Feb 2010 with the inlaws....hoping for a great winter discount...we used 4/3 last year at the Poly...!!

I think what resort to stay at is a very personal opinion. I personally have loved every place we have stayed from All Stars to Contemporary. I would not even think twice to stay at the All Stars again. Others say once you go deluxe you will never turn back. :confused3 We are goign to stay at CSR June 2010 for the first time, glad to hear you enjoyed it.

We have driven from NE PA. The drive was fine, but now that I got my hubby to fly, we would never go back to driving. 18 hours is way to long to be in a car, and I think, your ride is longer.

I had to scrape all of my 2009 WDW plans because of the Economy
and business going down but are planning for Aug. 2010.
It will be our 25th Wedding Anniversary:bride::hug::love:. :woohoo:
I want it to be special. I hope there will be some sort of
special or discount I can take advantage of.
I hope everyones plans go smoothly. It was a sad day
when I had to call an cancel this years trip I had Free Dining and everything. :sad1:

We're going in May/June of 2010, thinking of staying at the Tree House's in Saratoga Springs.

Our children are a little unhappy that we're not going this summer (heck, Mommy and Daddy aren't too thrilled either).
