Their First trips!!!!!!!

My mom and Dad

I am excited as this will be my first trip on property..my other trips were day trips and the last time I was there was in 1994!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking the last week in August because the kids don't go back till after Labor day and crowds may be low..

I am planning booking room only as soon as they become available (I am guessing around April) and then add all the other things later...
What do you think about that plan??

We did a variation of your plan, and it worked great!!! We knew we wanted the last week in August (we did August 24-30 of this year) and the crowds were low enough and the kids weren't in school yet. It was great, the last hoorah of summer before school starts on Tuesday!!!

Like you, we booked a room only ASAP so we had it. Early in January we did a room only with a AAA discount, so if free dining wasn't available, at least we had a discount to make it more affordable. Then free dining was available for our week, so we cancelled AAA and did free dining.

In 2010, I think we are going to shy away from the summer months..we are thinking November or December maybe? We will see!!! Or maybe even Spring break week and deal with the crowds...

BTW, like others, we would love to go back sooner, but want to save instead of charge. Though I am sooo jealous of those going in 2009 for the celebration year. :lovestruc

Did you find August tooo unbearable??????

Count me in. We are planning on going in August of 2010. We were there this past August during Faye and we feel we missed out on so much because of the rain. It was our first trip with our kids. So we started planning the next trip right away. We can't wait to go back!

Did you find August tooo unbearable??????

I will try to avoid going back in August. If it came down to August or not at all that year, of course I would pick August. But if I had a choice of any other month..even if I have to pay more..I would pick any other month that it is cooler. Next time we go back, I am swinging for October-April.

Possible thinking about Jan. 2010...have to see what prices are like though. We stayed at CSR last time and loved it. I'd like to try somplace new, but was very happy with CSR!!

I would love to go another month besides August, but it's cheaper in August and my kids go back to school in September. So August it is for us!

March 2010 for us. Probably going to try to get into OKW but it's a busy time.

ohh I am ecitied..more August 2010 folkes.. We are open to go any time after the 2nd week of June through the end of August...
When doyou think is the best time

 We are going again in January 2010 too!!! Do you know your possible date?

Not actually planning yet ;) , but I told my mom I would take her for her 65th b'day which in June 2010; but rather go in May for a little less heat, crowd and room cost, plus get to see the Epcot's Flower and Garden festival. :)

I'm taking my daughters to AKV in 26 days! But I am more excited about planning our first OFFICIAL DVC stay! We are planning on spring break (April 4-10, 2010) at the AKV. This will be my DH's first stay at AKV. We're also bringing my parents who have never seen the AKL! I haven't decided on our plans yet. We are either going to do 3 nights in a standard Jambo 2BR and 2 nights in a CL 2BR (wishful thinking, I'm sure) OR we will do 5 nights in a savanna view 2BR in Kidani Village. :dance3:

Speaking of planning ahead....my dad is planning a trip for the extended family (14 people and counting...) for 2012:laughing: . I guess when you are going to take that many people to WDW and pay for everyone, you have to plan ahead!

I think it is easier when you plan far ahead. You can estimate how much money you'll need and the hit to your monthly budget is much less when you have 24 months to spread it over.

Hi there! I might as well join in! We will either be going in May of 2010 or Nov of 2009. I miss WDW so much! We went in Aug 2007. This year we are going to visit my husband's family in South Africa for Christmas so that has really broken our budget for this year. Plus my older dd will miss 7 days of school this year because of our trip. I really wanted to take my little one for her 5th birthday in May of 2009 but can't for the above reason. My older one would miss too much school in one school year. So it will either be in Nov or early December in 2009 or May 2010 for her 6th birthday. May seems better but I'm affraid of the love bugs! Her birthday is the 26th! Both my girls hate bugs!

 We are going again in January 2010 too!!! Do you know your possible date?

Actually, I keep bouncing back and forth. My kids aren't scholars so it has to be during school break. Trying to figure out the best time to go, entertainment wise, crowd wise, and weather wise! So I am undecided between Dec 27ish, 2009-January 3, 2010 (crowded, but Christmas lights and holidays in WDW! Great weather!) April 3-10, 2010 (Easter break week, is that any better? :scared1: ) or just go for tried and true..the week before Labor Day..low crowds but miserably hot. :scared1:

Is it too early to start a pre-trip report? LOL I think it would help keep me organized.

I'm not tossing around staying at OKW. If my sister and BIL come, along with my parents we'll have 6 adults and 1-3 kids. We could all fit into 2 rooms at CSR but not sure my sis and bil want to share a room with my parents. LOL

There are so many options.

I wonder if it it's too early to start a paper chain countdown..hmm..making a paper chain with 700 links might be a bit cumbersome. :lmao: :rolleyes1

Okay - now that our MNSSHP trip is a thing of the past, now on to planning the DS birthday trip. I only have 15 months! See ya real soon!

My newphew's orchestsra is planning on a trip to Disney World over Spring Break. So I guess being a good aunt, I would have force myself to go and watch them play, right? :rotfl2:

At least that gives me lots of time to save up and plan. My sis (his mom) keeps talking about wanting to stay at CSR, so that is the plan for now.

When you think of it like that..it's really not that far away after all!!! I better start planning big time and less time moping that our trip is over!

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: We were just talking about the paper chain the other day. We are surprising our DS12 with 2 nights at the CR CL Magic Kingdom View which he has always wanted to stay at and then off to the YC CL for 8 nights. Now not being able to book it yet is just killing me. But keeping the secret is killing me even more.:scared1: :scared: I hope I can keep the secret.:hyper:
