2010 reservations and qualifying stay

I was able to make reservation for a stay in late May of 2010. The person taking the reservation said that the rest of 2010 should open up mid August.

Also, I was informed and then confirmed with Loew's You First that Florida resident and annual passholder rates now are considered a qualilfying rate towards the you first program.

That's what I heard as well from a resort manager a month or so ago.

I may be able to stay gold/make platinum after all if I can take a bunch of cheap one night trips.

i just checked the terms and conditions on the you first site.

it still states ap and fl discounts do not qualify for the youfirst program:

YouFirst benefits and points awards are based on completion of a qualifying stay at participating Loews-branded Hotels. A qualifying stay is one at any standard rate published by the hotel. Group, volume corporate, Government, Government Group, Advance Purchase, F.I.T. and consortia rates do qualify under the terms of the YouFirst Program. Third party, Universal Passholder and Universal Florida resident rates do not qualify, nor do rates through any other discount program, coupon, complimentary or promotional offer. The Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando does not qualify for YouFirst benefits.

2 years ago, i booked in January for an October stay.

i had a situation similar to yours.
Loews did sent me an email to confirm.

when i checked into the hotel, they did not plan to honor what i booked with the rate.
i pulled out the email and no issues then.

I am however looking forward to the possibility. I hadn't posted independently (except for a reference in the date and rate thread) as it's still just a rumor, and not even close to settling the score for the last changes. One two week stay a year and you're still just "member", but at least you could stay cheaper.

I have an AP rate at the PBH for this October, so I'm sure that if there is a change to YouFirst to include AP rates, it won't become effective until November!

i understood when you posted what you meant.
we all love to hear the rumors.

i just wanted to let newbies that lurk and don't post, to be aware that they should be cautious with the loews youfirst program.

many of us here got burned when the program changed July 08 and we hate for anyone else to get stuck in the murk like we did.

if people are being told that the third party discounts will be allowed or there might be plans in the future for the loews youfirst credits, they should get it in writing.

receiving opposite information at check in time, is the not fun at all.


I have the AP card and the AAA.
I book with the AAA to be on the safe side.

If loews changes the program again, i'm sure they will do the mass emails to all in informing us.

re the fine print, probably should be mentioned; most loyalty programs can be discontinued @ any time by the issuer or modified with notice

im happy with the plan, does appear as inconsistencies have arisen as to 'status' in the past based upon many threads here

sure would luv to continue to be platinum next year; percs are hard to beat!

Do you know if you get your upgrades if you book with an annual pass or do you just get credit for stays. Cuz if I can get a portofino suite at PBR for $159/night in August (plus my $100 food and beverage credit), that is fantastic!!!!!

I think with the economy it's better to have rooms booked cheaper than no rooms booked at all. We want to go up in Sept and the AP rate is about $40 cheaper than SS rate so this would make a nice upgrade with the AP rate.

as it's been for most of the dates i've checked this year, still hard to pass up AAA rate w/the platinum credit for a short stay of 2 nights

was surprised really as last year many times the AAA rate was less for my dates than AP was

i hate to be a wet blanket, but would think if loews does include AP rates in the program, they'll probably start out high to test what the harry potter market will bear; then adjust accordingly
