2010 Prices on UK Site

Hi Guys

So me and DF have decided that we want to visit WDW in March for the Flower & Garden Festival. We decided this last month actually, so have been keeping an eye on Disney's website for prices.

I went on there earlier this afternoon and put in the dates (beginning of) and was shocked and gobsmacked to find that AKL was over £3000. The All Star resorts were over £1000.

What the hecksay is going on, why is it so much money? Is it because we are booking so far in advance? Or because they have gotten a little big headed over recent crowd levels that this major price hike is justifiable?

i think its all to do with the exchange rate

I have booked for this year and the same dates next year are only around £50 more so it may be a holiday or something

I just checked for beginning of August and The All Stars are just under £1000, this is not right as I find it too expensive, especially for a value resort.

We go by these resort prices as they are the cheapest which makes price comparisons easy, but we stay in moderates, so we know that these prices fluctuate.

I think we might have to wait a couple of months and see if this is something that Disney need to rectify.

We want to go to WDW for F&GF which is between March and May, when is the best time to go during these periods? Or is F&GW part of the peak period when the park is busy and prices are higher?

I know Easter hols start around last week in March and beginning of April so this could impact on prices

just read this thread - sorry - I've started another one about the price increase!! Our holiday is £520 more expensive than the 2009 prices I have been working with!!

Do you think if you book with the UK site and then the prices come down that you can switch to the better rate?? (I know from the resorts board that in the US they book at 'rack' rate and then they can ring to switch if a better deal comes up)

I'm nearly positive I've read somewhere that you can't do this if you have booked through the UK site. This was one of the reasons I was considering booking through the U.S. site

to switch on the uk site its a cancel and rebook with a 25 admin fee, i called up about the new free dining for this year to change our hotel but we had to cancel and rebook

thanks for the info!! I don't think a £25 per person cancelling and rebooking fee is too bad if there are real savings to be had. I am not expecting to get a good deal on a MK view room at the poly just before xmas anyway, so I think I might just have to accept that the prices have really gone up since last year!

We are going to wait a little while longer, checked out most of the months for next year and they are just extortionate!

I really want to go next year, but if I have to pay £3000 for AKL, I would rather spend that money on a safari holiday in South Africa.

Might give Disney a call later and enquire about these price hikes, will let you know how it goes

We stayed at All Stars in 2004 and were thinking of doing it again last year but because we wanted the free dining we had to stay in a moderate so we chose CBR, it was £600 more to stay in a moderate than the value so we made sure we spent that on food

We wanted to go back to CBR next year but found that even though it's a moderate it's still £400 more than Port Orleans and Coronado Springs so £1000 MORE than staying in All Stars!

That £1000 is potentially more spending money and as much as I really loved CBR I don't see how they can charge more than the other moderates

Wow...those prices have been hiked up! We've paid around £1500 per adult on our next trip in May 2010. That's staying at All Star Sports for 16 nights, flights, Disney tickets, Discovery Cove Ultimate & SeaWorld and Universal tickets. Oh and our rental car for the stay too.

We looked at CBR too, as we've stayed there previously, but found it was adding around an extra £400 per adult to the price we paid. We couldn't do this as we thought that the spending money was more important for us all once there - and we've been to the All Star's before and know these hotels are fine for what we need!

Well I phoned Disney and the prices on the site for next year are based on the hotel rates before any special promotions. Also, there is no 14 day tickets for the price of 7, but I reckon that it will be back soon enough as it is one almost every year.

So the only thing I can think to do is book now pay the deposit and keep an eye out for any promotions that might come up.

Amy it's £25 per booking to change not per person. I did it last week.

crikey! Just booked up with Charter Travel for August 2010 : 7 nights at POR inc full DDP + tix for £1600 (it was coming up as £1668 on disney uk site). Guy specifically told me it was £25 per person booked for any changes! I put him over it twice If it's def. only £25 per booking as the above poster specified then fantastic as I will be looking constantly for better deal!

Thanks for the info. Sharon. Can anyone find anything written on Disney site re: charge for changing, so I can phone back and quote to them?
