We're currently booked under the 35% pin at POR. Even if/when free dining comes out we're going to have to go back to rack rates to get the promotion. Not liking that idea one bit.

This question is in the assumption that FD will be here... I know it will be!!! :cool1: So here goes... Sorry for any of you from the "other" thread for whom this is kind of a repeat question, but.... I've read and been told many places that the end of August/week before Labor Day is one of the least crowded times to go... but have also read that FD draws in alot of crowds, which is contradictory. Overall it seems that the general consensus is that it's not too crowded during that time. However, I just had a co-worker *assure* me today that the end of August is quite crowded and I should expect long, hot waits in line. Soooooo, what is the case? Will it be crowded or not (again, assuming FD comes out)? 8/24-9/1.

I have gone the last 3 yrs at the end of august. it was NOT crowded, at least in my opinion. I don't do the rollercoasters, etc, but other people in my party did and between fast passes and extra magic hours, we had no problem going on what ever we wanted. in 2008, we went to the MK on labor day and it was virtually empty!! I wouldn't worry about crowds.. I've been there during spring break in MARCH and I would never do that again.

My family and I went Aug.25-Sept.1st of '09! It was wonderful, hardly any wait times. The longest wait was at TSM. We could walk on almost anything. I also noticed that some resturants were taking walk ups. While it was hot, the lack of lines made up of it.

I haven't run the numbers, but I don't think the buy 4/get 3 deal would be the best deal for me. I currently have 11 nights at ASMu with the regular dining plan and 8 day regular park passes booked at 20% off room rate for $3,422 for me, my fiancee and 12 year old daughter for Sep 23 through Oct 4. If Free Dining comes out, I was going to upgrade to POR if rooms were available for $2,720. Anyone want to crunch numbers for me and see what my trip would be on the buy 4/get 3 free deal? That's just too much math for me and I don't enjoy math!!! (yeah, especially my DD 12's math homework!!!!) :rotfl2:

From what I have read only. The first week of free dining is busiest and then gets progressively less busy as time goes by. It is still less crowded than summer or early August, but seems to get more crowded each year. This is just what I have read, have not been there myself yet, but will be the 15TH-24Th od August this year. :cool1:

Maybe they will offer something like Universal and do the more you stay the more you save. That would be great for us, being we are going 11 nights 12 days. Maybe 3 nights free for 4 purchased, 4 nights free for 5 or 6 purchased, 5 nights free for 7 or 8 purchased and draw a cap at 5 free nights for trips 2 weeks or over. One can dream right. ;)

Thanks! ::woohoo: That's exactly what I wanted to hear (well, read)! ;) While I'm not exactly looking forward to the heat and humidity, I, too, would rather deal with that than deal with crowds. Between saving money w/ FD (or some other fall promo), and having less crowds, I'll take the weather. Hopefully my 4 and 6 year olds won't wilt too much in the weather.

Dear Disney:

My supervisor would sincerely appreciate it if you would offer Free Dining already so I could get back to work instead of being on the Disboards constantly checking this thread. Thank you. Sincerely, someone who should be working right now.......:rotfl:

:lmao: It's very good for my career that pages like this are blocked at work!

I had a ds15mo and dd3 with me last year. We made sure we went back to the resort in the afternoon to rest/swim and we were fine. Drink lots of water!

We also took a break every afternoon. We would go back to our room, swim, nap, whatever. It was nice and the crowds were not bad. The longest we waited was an hour for TSM but everything else was walk on or under 15 minutes. We seemed to be able to time it just right to be getting ready for dinner during the 4 p.m. daily rain shower and by the time we were dressed and on our way, the 20 minute rain was done! :cool2:

someone explain the 7/4 deal to me. We are currently booked at Pop 9/4-9/11, 3 adults with BB Free Reg DDP and 7 day park hoppers for $1667. IF the new promo was 7/4, what would we get 7 of and only pay for 4? Resort, park passes (hoppers?) and dining? Just resort & passes?

Oh goody, something new to think about!!!

We did the buy 4 get 3 free deal last year in June. The dining was full price. Won't help us this year as we have APs now.

Welcome back, Knox. . .did you enjoy General Hospital? :rotfl:

I have two questions (just for running numbers purposes)

1. would the 7/4 apply to values? (Or would it be 7/5?)

2. it really includes dining, too??

Wooops.. I got that wrong Dining was NOT included.. (sounded too good to be true.. and it was.. )

And to my knowledge and memory that deal was available at 'select' resorts at all three levels (value, mod, deluxe) ..

GH is riveting this week true dat. But I was away for the weekend and didn't get much a chance to check in when I got back on Sunday night.

If that in fact WAS what she was suggesting, my guess would be the Buy 4 days get 3. That's a pretty awesome offer and amounts to a 42.8% discount off everything you get.

(Resort, Dining, Tickets)

Actually - it wouldn't be 42.8% off the tickets would it? wouldn't you still pay something like 240(I don't know how much, that's just an example) but then get the $6(?) cost of making a 4 day ticket into a 7 day ticket free?

I just ran my number (2A noC) going from 9-21 through 9-29 staying at ASMu. Even with free QSDP and the upgrade ($20 a night), it came to (with flights, $1944. With 7 for 5 (which is how it was at Values in the past, I believe) and park hoppers (additional cost for the 2 free days) $2,395! That's a big difference. . .

Come on FD!!!!:woohoo:

ETA: If what Knox wrote is true= that the 4/3 deal was good at select resorts across the board, my total would be $2,285. Right in the middle. Still. . .FD is better!

I may be in the minority here, but if they offer the 4/3 deal again I plan to stay exactly 7 days at Disney and then go over to Universal.

I was considering a split stay for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (So excited.. I <3 Harry Potter), but it seemed too inconvenient. However.... the 4/3 deal is the best percentage off for 7 days so as a math teacher, I'd have to go with the best percentage.

Free Dining would keep me on property for the entire stay... Taking a day to Hogwarts

No discount... No Disney :( (or universal for that matter)

lol...What is TSM? I know I am going to kick myself when you tell me.

I can only comment on my experience from last year. I went September 2-9. We stayed at POP (which was tough to get, we got it at the last minute) and had the FD. I made all my ADR's at 90 days and got everything I wanted. The parks were EMPTY. We didn't wait for ANY rides. Fast pass was barely ever used. The longest line we waited in was for Tinkerbell - and that was 45 minutes. Every other ride/show was less than a 10 minute wait (keep in mind that my DD was 3, so we didn't do any "adult" rides). Hope that helps.
