As will my two DDs and I. What fun!!

Oh have fun Elin.! I will be long gone by the 9th:( Ok, I think I leave on the 6th....hopefully with a medal around my neck...for that wino race! LOL

redzinner....love your avatar;)

BriarRosie, Tony also mentioned they might hold a second class for Mixology on Saturday if there is enough interest. He talked of combining some people from other classes that only have 2 or 3 people signed up into one class as well. :headache: So they are looking at solutions... ( I wonder what the "Bubbling, Sake, Bordeaux, Mixology" class will be like?) ;)

Sounds like that combination would be a hot mess. ;)
I still haven't booked anything yet. I'll try calling soon. I am very undecided.

Just signed DH and I up for the beer seminar on Saturday! :drinking1 I'm so happy to see this, hopefully the seminar is as good as the brewers dinners they used to have years ago at F&W. :thumbsup2

I see those as completely different animals. The brewers dinners years ago were full dinner pairings with beer. But the pre-tasting event seminar sounds like something you'd find at the Festival Center (except with the Swan/Dolphin, maybe they'll pour more than a thimbleful?) Followed by the "real" tasting event in the esplanade area between the two hotels.

You will have that medal! I know you will! We will all be there cheering! :cheer2: And then the After Hours Party will be a great way to continue the F & W week.

Is anyone else planning to attend the Half Marathon After Hours Party on 10/2? I am not even sure everyone going that first weekend knows that there is another event!

I have used my Rewards Card and they definitely work if the machines are working. It's best to have some cash in case there is an electronic meltdown.

Thanks! I will make sure to have some cash just in case...

Both of you have fun - I'm sure you will get a medal in the race Diana! Too bad my trip is not a month earlier - it would have been nice to meet up with you guys! :)

I have been lurking on this thread for some time now. We love the F&W Fest. This year will be the first time we don't have any ticketed things planned. So far.....:rolleyes1 I am curious about the Party for the Senses. Is there seating and tables? I had surgery not too long ago and standing for long periods is still difficult.

In the past when have they come out with the schedule for the seminars? There are at least two we would like to book. We are AP holders so we can do our booking on 8/26, but I sure would like to know what is offered with enough time to consider our options. :confused3

Geez, five (5) days till we can book and still no schedule. What's the hold up??????

Nobody you call at WDW, Member Services or CRO, is likely to know anything about the seminar tickets as they are handled at a different department entirely. All we know right now is early booking for at least TIW and AP and maybe DVC on 8/26, booking for everyone on 8/28. You will be able to buy them online only, not by phone (if it's like last year) and we will have the link up in the first post once we find out what it is.

Thank you for this information. I will start checking the passholders site at DW.com.

Well, I guess I had good cause to worry when I didn't receive my email last week... The girl who took my reservation did not book the package, even though she went back and forth with her supervisor about it. I only have a room and the Sat. Night Mixology class is SOLDOUT as of this morning! :drinking1

If I'm lucky they could have a cancellation, but until then, I have booked the Friday night class!

On Saturday, I'll be the face on the outside smushed against the glass and waving to all the partyers on the inside! :wave2:

Disbug, this just stinks, I am so sorry. Sending you lots of pixie dust and warm wishes for a opening for you. If nothing else I hope someone takes pity on you with your flatened nose and glazed over eyes and escorts you into the party. :goodvibes

Come on Seminar Schedule.....come on seminar schedule.....come on :dance3:

Angel,

This is only the 2nd year of charging for the Deminars (and being able to reserve them in advance) so there is no "usually"!! ;) And the way Disney has been scheduling things lately, even if there had been a long history, I believe all bets are off! :sad2:

I hope you & DH will book the PFTS. Everyone should experience it at least once! :thumbsup2 There are tables so you will be able to sit. I haven't been in several years though so I will defer to someone who has been more recently. I just wanted to give you encouragement to book it! :goodvibes

You can book the Wine View Lounge at the Party for the Senses for $90 per person extra and get a reserved, guaranteed table. Other than that there is no way to guarantee yourself a table or seating, but they do have seating.

This will be our first Food and Wine Festival. I've been reading this thread and I can't wait.

The Party for the Senses looks wonderful, but I am wondering, is it worth $150?

(The price is really $135 plus tax).

We think it is worth it, usually. I am hoping that the Wine View Lounge might take some of the crowd away from the main area this year. We won't have any way of knowing since last year was a little odd with the themed Parties. Numbers were down so they went back to the old way of doing it, opting to keep the Wine View Lounge.

I hope we find it less crowded than it was in 2007. The Bocuse d'Or kept us from going in 2008 and last year the themed menu during our only Saturday night there was not very appealing to us. Since my DDs and I are going this year and they are paying for their own tickets for the first time ( :teeth: ) we are not adding that $90 to try out the Lounge.

We have loved the PFTS every year we've been. The food is amazing, and I love that you get a chance to talk to the chefs as well as the wine representatives. We did the wine view lounge last year, and will be doing it again this year.

From Warren Brown's (cake love) website. I have to assume that Mr. Brown is doing the 3:00 deminar that day. Of course, it could also be the 5:00 one. :rotfl: But we do know there is one cooking demo that day!

October 9, 2010 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

CakeLove returns to EPCOT to celebrate food, wine and baking! Come be part of the fun at our demo and book signing!

This is a demonstration class.

I've noted that the Disney Food Blog (not operated by Disney, link in first post) is saying that tickets for the seminars and demonstrations will be on sale on August 26 for AP holders, TIW members and DVC members, August 28 for everyone else (which we already knew), and to call 407-WDW-FEST.

Last year the deminar bookings were done entirely online and you could not get them by phone at all. We also know WDW-FEST ends up being the same as calling WDW-DINE, you end up in the same phone queue.

I kind of hope it's not done by phone this year. August 26 is apparently the first date for booking Candlelight Processional packages, and the phone lines will be jammed already. The blog does say all info is subject to change.

I'm with you, Catherine. I sure hope the info about calling for the Deminars is wrong. :headache: Although I hated the idea of paying for the Deminars last year, it sure was convenient to book and pay for everything online. Definitely made planning easier! :thumbsup2 And the extra park time by not having to get there early and stand in those long lines was worth the $$ IMO!! :)

:scared1: That would be a nightmare! They would need to post all the selections somewhere so people know what they want to book, which hopefully Disney will do prior to 7 am on Aug 26th. Even then some people won't look at the selections and then the phone CM would have to read the odd 200 deminars and dates/times to people. Nope I don't see it happening that way but hey 'all things are subject to change' with Disney.

Holy phone jam, batman!!! :rotfl2:

Here's hoping they leave it as it was last year - worked great and was very easy.

I'm confused....

I am getting my husband to go to WDW by telling him we can go to the Food & Wine festival. However I just called and the cheese seminars, 3D Dessert thing and the Sweet Sundays are all booked.

Are there things that are not booked up yet that we would be able to attend?

We are not TiW, AP or DVC members.

I'm thinking if I can't get anything special planned my husband may change his mind on us being able to go to WDW!

The special events have been open for booking since July 20 and many of them are sold out. Some of them sold out within the first few days they were available for booking.

What opens for booking on August 26 are the culinary and wine seminars and demonstrations held at the Festival Center. These open first for members of DVC, TIW and annual passholders, who may get some sort of discount on the ticket price like they did last year. If you are not AP, DVC or TIW you can book these on August 28. They are apparently planning to schedule three culinary and three wine seminars per day.

All we need to find out now is the schedule, and how to book them. None of this has been released by Disney yet. Everyone is hoping it will be out before the 26th arrives.
