I'm just curious, what competitions do your kids compete in? Jamfest? GLCC? Extreme?

Anyone else getting ready for Cheersport Atlanta? This will be our first time (my daughter and I, not the team). I hear it's HUGE. I am getting excited. I'd love to see if we compete against any of your kids, just for the fun of it. Who else is going to be there?

We compete in a bunch of regionals and then 2 out of state. The level 5's go to a few extra.

The whole gym except for IO6 is heading to Dallas at the end of this month. Then levels 1-4 and maybe J5 and Jc5 are going to American Showcase in Anaheim.

Our IO6 will be at Cheersport. We went a few years ago and I have to say it was one of our favorite nationals.

Good Luck in Atlanta. You will have a blast!

NCA Nationals? We'll be there.

We're all so worried about school cheer. We leave for UCA Nationals in Orlando next Wednesday, but we've missed three important practices due to snow days.

Yup- Nationals. Flying down on Thursday the 24th. What gym/team should I be rooting for? :goodvibes

I have one in J1 and one in Special Needs.

I feel for you with the missed practices. We had practices canceled this week too and it is really going to impact our competition Saturday.

Had a good competition yesterday at Spirit Nationals. Not one of our best, but still a great day. Some drops, but no big deal. For some teams, this was their first competition, for others the first after a long winter (last one in early December.) It was good to get the nerves over again. It was also nice to see all the other teams in Colorado do so well. Lots of great competition.

Niece's J1 team was 1st and level 1 grand champs.

DD's special needs team wasn't scored, but they gave both special needs teams grand champion banners, so that was nice. Both special needs teams looked amazing.

Best thing is that all practices are canceled for today to preserve athlete bodies since we have another competition next Saturday. YEAH!!!! There is a lot of illness going around the gym right now. One girl who fell on her tick tock went to urgent care after the competition due to bronchitis.

Despite a major snowstorm that made driving an utter nightmare, we had a great day yesterday! We had the GLCC Michigan Challenge and all 4 of our teams took 1st in their division! Our youth won "rocking routine" and Grand Champs for session 2 and our Jr team got Best Music. Our Senior team has struggled this year but hit everything yesterday! They did a wonderful job and really needed that confidence boost before Cheersport in two weeks.

I'm getting so excited for Atlanta! I can't wait!

My niece had her 2nd big competition this weekend in Palm Springs--Duel in the Desert. Her small J2 took 1st place. They are going to Dallas the end of the month for the first time. Usually only the Level 5 goes. The Level 5 at her gym is awesome!!

We leave for Orlando with the school cheer team on Wednesday (weather permitting!:scared1:) The missed practices have really hit them hard. They practiced Sat. and Sun. but they still aren't hitting everything. The coach is angry and the girls are stressed. But I told D: "If you lose YOU'LL BE AT DISNEYWORLD." How bad can that be?

Congrats to your daughter's team. :cheer2:

You are so right. It is DISNEY!

EXACTLY! Even a bad day at Disney is better than a good day anywhere else. Good luck to them! Let us know how it goes!

We were suppose to leave for nationals Wed. too. But with the weather that is coming on Wed. we are now leaving at tomorrow afternoon. We are taking a charter bus, thankfully the company said we could move the date up and is not charging us extra. I'm so ready to leave. I'm sending pixie dust your way for good weather! How are you guys traveling?

We're flying. A 5:20 pm flight. We'll see.

Good luck to the high schoolers heading to Nationals in Orlando this weekend!

Great day at the Colorado Allstar State championships yesterday. DN was 1st and level 1 grand champs and DD's special needs team was state champs. Now on to Dallas where we can be humbled by the best of the best!:goodvibes

It was kind of a bummer though, as some of the really good upper level senior teams were not there due to kids being in Orlando for HS. I love watching them as there is such great talent emerging from our little state.

Back from Nationals at Orlando. I had no idea how big of a competition it was! There are prelims, semis and finals. I counted 218 teams making finals, so there must have been what, maybe 500 teams there?

It started rough...in prelims, outside venue, freezing cold, two of our girls collided, music stopped, long delay, concussion, injured hand, reworking routine in 15 minutes, girls rise to the occasion, make semis then finals, girl with concussion is taken to hospital (she's going to be okay but still has a headache and light and sound sensitivity - but at least she knows where she is!) After at all that, the girls were disappointed in their placement in finals. There were only a few tiny mistakes, but many of the other teams in finals had higher levels of difficulty (which really surprised our coach, who thought we would have the highest level.)

I know it's great for Disney to have that many paying guests at a very slow (and cold!) time of the year...but it's really a crazy way to do Nationals... go to a place where you can only practice outside (choose the slick wet grass or the concrete) in the days leading up to the competition, then let the girls kill their feet and legs by walking around Disneyworld for two days..then compete! Fun, but kind of nuts.
