2009 Never Expire Ticket - worthless

We had a family member cancel last minute years ago. As a result, I have a ten day park ticket that was never used. The ticket was purchsed in 2009. Spent the weekend trying to link it to MDE for an upcoming trip, but couldn't do it. Called Disney and after working with the CM for a little while, they determined the ticket needed to be converted AT THE PARK. So if I want to use this ticket for FP+, I need to fly to WDW and head on over to the park? This is nonsense. I went ahead and purchased tickets for everybody. I get that the ticket isn't worthless, I will convert the ticket during our trip. I'm just shocked that with the technology available in the world today, they can't simply void out this old ticket and issue me a new one. That seems a little easier than requiring people to travel several hundred miles for a two minute exchange at their counter.

Because it’s a non-expiring ticket, you can have it added to your account during your next trip and save it to use whenever you want. I know it’s not helpful for your immediate trip, but it still holds value and is valid for park entry with no extra fees or anything so really it has extra value.

Frustrating. I'm guessing since this was a ticket from 10 years ago, you next trip might not be for awhile.

I have some similar tickets -- wish I had more.

The ticket isn't useless, but I get your point: You want to manage it over the internet or phone before the trip. You don't want to waste vacation time doing it.

Sorry you had to spend money that you hadn't planned to, on a positive note, think how much money you will save on your next trip! Tickets go up so much every year it is ridiculous! Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish I had bought a few nonexpiring bacck in the day when they didn't charge extra. It will be real easy to change it over. I have some Park Hopper plus ticket from 2004 and 2005 with a bunch of water park days left that are non-expiring. I was able to get them changed over and I linked them to my account with various names so I won't have to worry about losing them. Another option you have is if you have a friend going to Disney that can change it for you.

You wouldn't have a friend that you trust that's in Florida, or other family, would you? If so, I'd suggest perhaps send the ticket to them, have them to go Disney Springs, and do the deed before sending the new ticket via mail back to you?

well...MDE and FP+ were not a thing when you purchased those tickets. So, in reality. they are just as "valuable" today, as they were they day you bought them.

Entrance to 4 parks. FP 1st come 1st serve the day you enter the park. Don't see the issue at all.

I went through the same thing a few years back with a 10-day Non Exp ticket I had from YEARS ago. It was annoying for sure but was actually a pretty painless process once I got it done (I did it at Disney Springs...well DTD at the time). I'm sure it's an extra measure to prevent fraud and other things. I didn't really question the why to much as I'm sure Disney has their reasons.

Try the email route:
Include photos of the ticket
Include your MDX info
Ask if entitlements can be added to your MDX Profile
Email ticket.inquiries@disneyworld.com

Thanks hiro. I already bought tickets for everybody. I'll just convert the ticket to the new format when we arrive and save it for a future trip. I'm sure I'll use it down the road. Never considered email, that sounds like a better approach.
Thanks again

You’re welcome. :goodvibes

It can save you some time by emailing rather than waiting at Guest Relations. @Robo may have some additional suggestions.

And just in case anyone need's a refresher on DISboard Posting Guidelines, you can find them here: https://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

Posts that push the limits of #4 ("No Fighting/Sarcasm") will continue to be removed and are subject to infraction points.

Thank you.
No sarcasm from me. I'll pay the $100 and I used the OP term for their tickets... lol
OP - To be fair, I agree it really is a bit annoying you can't do it over the phone. I can't imagine the feeling you must have experienced looking at those unexpired tickets for the past 10 years, taunting you to book a new trip. Have a great trip!

Remember this is a non-expiring ticket--it is far better to use it on short future trips rather than all 10 days at once. With a peak one day park popper ticket as much as $188, that unused ticket could be worth a small fortune if used for the occasional single day.

We have a few single day hoppers we got comped to us years ago that we’ve been waiting to use where they pack the most punch. We’ve got a quick trip we’ll do when Illuminations ends that we’ll finally get to put them to use. Using them on a longer trip really does make them pretty worthless. I couldn’t care less about the ability to book fp’s for this trip.

Oh man I'm in the same situation, with one single - day ticket from the 2000's that will be used in my upcoming trip. Just gonna use that one the first day, when half the day will be spent getting off the plane and checking in and settling anyway. Day-of kiosk fast passes aren't as bad as everyone says.

Is that your only day at the parks?

If you have other in-park days on the trip, and might ever have an actual ONE day visit, I’d save this for that time and just add a day to your longer ticket.

No, it's the first day of a 5-day trip. This trip is just me and my gf, and we had this extra one laying around, so I bought 5 tickets for one of us and 4 for the other.
