2009 mugs different?

No info on the changes but had to share a funny mug story...

We got the mugs at WL in November. I was very concerned that we didn't mix ours up as we were both recovering from strep and didn't want to re-infect each other (as we have done before.) So I made sure that I wrote an initial on mine and was very careful to check each time we filled, carried, moved, etc. So fast forward home, unpacking, getting ready to put the mugs in the dishwasher when I realized.....

They had 2 different color lids. One blue, one grey.

Sigh.

A CM at BC Marketplace told me that they will not wait until the old ones are sold out. As soon as a new design comes in, they'll put it out and remove the old ones.

We came home on the 9th and the old design was still out.

I'm sorry, I don't buy this (I believe the CM said it) if they are going to have a new design, why not have it ready for when the new promotion starts?
I'm sure Disney holds its emploees accountable for deadlines.
I just think that the people going at the beginning of the promotion should have all the magic as the people who experience it when they get their stuff in a pile. It's not just all about getting a free ticket, giftcard, fastpass etc., it's about celebrations and the magic that goes along with it. Folks so far in January during their "transition" time just aren't getting that magical feel.
Sorry, I'm just a little perturbed not only about the refillable mug thing, but other stuff that goes along with the promotion as well. It's just all about the magic! Sorry, rant over.

According to what a Cast Member once told me the Resort counter service locations can not sell a new mug design until they have sold out of the ones that they are currently selling. So that would mean the Year of a Million Dreams are still being sold until they sell out.

Is this what they did with the resort specific mugs? Waited until they were all gone? I so miss those.

I would assume it was because when the Cast Member told me this in August 2007 a few days earlier the Contemporary had switched from their Resort logo mug to the YOAMD mugs. However they then switched back to their Resort logo mugs because they had sell them out before they could sell the YOAMD mugs, so someone there made a mistake when they started to sell the YOAMD mugs.

I just received a phone call from my friend who was waiting in line for Big Thunder Railroad.......and she said besides being chilly there.....the same cups are available in the resorts.
When they changed over to the Yoamd mugs ... we were at Port Orleans and we had purchased the Resort specific mug and half way thru our stay the old ones sold out and the new ones came in.....probably will be like that ...

I thought the mugs we got there between Christmas and New Years WERE for the holidays. I guess that does say they looked a lot like a winter scene.

They had 2 different color lids. One blue, one grey.

We didn't have different colored lids but we did have different colored handles. We had blue, black and gray handles. When I bought our mugs in Oct 2007 I thought it was a winter scene and wondered for a long time why they had a winter scene on them. It took me a while to realize it wasn't a winter scene but still, everytime I use it I think of winter. I guess living in New England that's how it looks to us...with the blue background and the stars as the falling snow it looks like Mickey, Minnie and the gang standing in a snow storm with a few inches of snow already on the ground (better get the shovels!)...most pictures show it that way

I'm just hoping they have the new ones by May. I won't even be staying a a Disney resort (I'll be at the Dolphin), but I just like having the mugs as a souvenir.

We will be staying at CBR in September. Does anyone know if they have their own mug or will it be the other one that everyone is waiting to see?

Only CSR as far as I know have their own resort specific mugs, now.
