2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Hi everyone. Just got back Sunday from WDW. Husband and I are planning a trip in Dec.09. Going all out for this one. Going to stay at the GF on the dining plan. Can't wait! I'm excited already!

Hey everybody! We're planning a trip for May 09 - seems so far away. Right now I'm leaning towards YC/BC - DH likes the WL. We've stayed at POR & Poly so those are always a possibility but I want to try somewhere new. We're a family of 5 so I'd like to stick to the deluxes but if money is going to be a big issue we'll stay at POR.

I haven't read all the posts yet but what is everyone doing to pass the time? I've researched the resorts so much I'm dreaming disney- lol. I'm not sure if I'll book through disney myself or use a service like DU. I think w/all the info here on the boards I'd do just fine but I like having some thoughts on planning our itinerary w/someone. Its nice to have someone to bounce stuff off. DH likes disney but hes not into it like I am so I try not to get into too much detail w/him.

FYI for anyone wondering, I read on allears.net that ressies can be booked 550 days out through disney - I thought that was interesting. I've booked a year in advance and just paid the current years rate for a deposit and then when the year of our trip rates come out they adjusted our overall price. Can't wait to do this. We're also looking into adopting a dog so thats keeping us busy too. Winter is a lot of indoor time so it will be nice to cuddle up in front of the fireplace w/a good disney planning book. I look forward to it - I really enjoy all the reading &researching. Have fun planning.

I will be doing a lot more planning after Christmas also. Need something to get through the cold weather. I can't wait unitl next August when the package prices are released for 2009. I will be making our reservations as soon as that day comes.

I'll join the 2009 Club! We leave in 15 days for a special Christmas Disney trip - but we will be going back in 2009 - not sure the exact date but most likely a summer trip as DS wants to enjoy the water parks So if you'll have me I'd love to plan 2009 with you guys! Thanks!

Me too!!! 2008 will be here soon and then in my mind it's officially "OK" to start the heavy duty planning!!

JJ&JsMom- when in May are you planning? We'll be going either overlapping the end of April/beginning of May or the first full week in May. We'll stay at the Poly again. I'm a Mom of a J & J - Josh and Jessi!

Hi everyone!

Put me on the 2009 list! DH and I got back from our last trip right after Halloween and we decided to wait until 2009 for the next trip.

Right now we are think of going in May 2009, possibly staying at either POFQ or the WL. Its hard knowing how much time we have until our next trip, but I'm sure it will end up going by quicker than we think. We'll probably book right at a year out, so I don't have much to do until May.

I was so happy to see a 2009 thread going....it gives me hope! Only 17 months to go!

We're thinking the second week in May - I think MOther's Day weekend. I need to check w/his teacher next year before I book. Or I might just go for it and book it and ask her next fall. I just won't book airfare until I speak to her. Right now we have plans for the YC - we went to the Poly in October & loved it so we'll see what happens when it comes down to the wire to pick one. I dunno - I'm really excited about trying out the Epcot side of Disney but love the monorail. I'm a Mom of Josh, Jamie & Jenna.

Thanks! I'd love to have another dog. I'm really missing Baxter - he loved the snow & winter. And of course I miss seeing him wear his big red Santa hat. We watched a home movie of him today - he was beautiful. We put adopting a puppy on hold - DS8 needs orthodontist work. Boy - thats expensive! We were looking at a puppy from a litter of rescued puppies down in Alabama through a rescue agency here in Maine. I was so upset to have to tell them that our plans changed - I sure hope they find homes. Puppies seem to go fast though - its the older ones that need more help.

Yeah - more snow. We've already used 2 or our 3 snowdays. We'll probably be in school until July . Happy planning!

We originally had planned to visit WDW Dec. 2009, but we just found out we're pregnant!!! So, we decided to bump up our trip to Jan. 2009! My DS will be 3.5 & our new baby will be 5 mos old. Plus, we're taking my mom with & it will be her 1st visit. I would love to take her during Christmas time, but now our trip is only a little over a year away. Right now, we're thinking the last week of Jan.
When can I book the room???? I won't add the package til after the baby is born, but I don't want to miss out on getting AK concierge!

I have a few questions about our trip. My problem is that when I read a thread that has info I really need, or a great idea, I "add" it to our trip. Then I read another thread that mentions the cons of the idea, and I get confused . (I used to spend quite a bit of time on the "family" board, but my head would be spinning with all the information...I prefer to hang out here with you guys ) I have only stayed at All Stars in the past, and each trip was 3-5 days and very different from each other. What do I really need?

DDP seems like it would work well for us, and I really want to go CL. However, I have read that doing both MIGHT be overkill. I can't say what our day will be like since it's so far off (alot can change with the kids in a year and a half). I plan on several character meals, going back to the resort in the afternoon (Poly, 6-7 nights), and then possibly back to the parks at night. DD's will be 7 & 4 when we go.

Any experience with DDP, CL or both? I'm not worried about cost ( don't tell dh )

Hi Micka Mouse. I have no experience w/CL but we did have the DDP in October. For us it did save us about $200 so thats good and it was nice not to carry a lot cash. Plus paying up front & not worrying about the price of each meal is also a benefit-we just ordered whatever we wanted. What I didn't like about the plan was the kids had to order off the kids menu which I completely understand but the choices were very limited. I knew this going in so when I made my ADRs I choose restaurants where the kids would find something they liked. C/Ss were a little more difficult but we managed. Some of the CMs at c/s were very helpful & some were not so helpful and pretty frustrated w/ddp folks. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the plan but I still managed to frustrate some CMs.

We probably wouldn't do the ddp again mainly because I think we can eat for less then we spent on the ddp. Plus Disney has changed the basic plan and I don't think we'd save any money. Also having a 8 TSs was a lot for our family and cut into our touring time. But if you're a family that would like to have alot of TSs - the restaurants can be an adventure on their own. We love the disney restaurants but we don't need 7 or 8 TSs but every family is different.

Like I said before I've never stayed CL but I probably wouldn't get both CL and ddp. If I had to choose I'd probably choose the ddp - I think its a better value for the money compared to CL. Good luck and happy planning.

We're not sure which hotel we're going to try next so thats what I'm doing off and on to pass the time. I've researched the heck out of all the resorts already for our trip last October but I'm doing it again. I just love it - but it makes our decision harder because I can our family staying at each one I read about . We're a family of 5 and the next time we go DD2 will be 3 so that changes the mix a little but there are still options.

I did have a ticker in my signature but I took it off as our trip in 2009 is kind of shaky - it could be 2010 but I'm still hoping we can pull it altogether.

I'm so happy!!!! I've been planning a return trip in April/May 2009, but not exactly sure who would be going. DH enjoyed our trip this past spring, but it's not really his thing and he pretty much said - did it once, why again? So I thought it might be me and the kids and maybe see if my parents wanted to go. On Christmas Day, out of nowhere - DD is talking about when she saw Belle at Disney (just her and I did that) and DH says to his brother - yeah, I saw those pics, next time *I* need to go see Belle, LOL. I said, "Wait! Next time??" and he says, yeah, we'll *Drive* (he doesn't fly and didn't want the kids and I to fly), but I'll go back. And DD said, "When I"m 5?" - which is 2009, and he said, yeah, that sounds good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I'm so excited we'll all be going, and he also mentioned seeing if any other family members want to go - which especially surprises me as he said that after spending so much holiday family time!! I said that would be fun, too, but definitely all separate rooms and WE"RE definitely doing the Poly and the dining plan again - regardless of where anyone else would choose to say. And, get this, he even said "Yeah, definitely - couldn't NOT stay at the Poly and get all that good food"

Who are you and what have you done with my husband????!!!!! LOL, but please stay!!!!! Love him to death of course, but he can be a bit of an "old fart" sometimes as I say- homebody, farm boy I guess. So this is all quite surprising - I had hoped he would eventually agree to come along - but to be quite enthusiastic without me even bringing it up?????? I would've bet good money against that!!

Major happy dances here and it's only 6 days till 2008 now and the planning can REALLY start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There must be something in the water! Last night, DH saw me on the computer, asked about a couple of things and went into the living room. When I came in, he said, "I'm gonna call you Micka Mouse now." I blew it off,(he really doesn't care to talk about Disney) and sat down. He then comes up with, "So, when are we going?"

I played it cool, til he asked, "What's the price difference between that resort {poly} and All Star?" I went through a few details with him (monorail monorail monorail). To make a long story short, he has agreed to 4 days in Madeira Beach to visit his dad, then 5 days on site at the poly.

Not that he wouldn't have agreed. What I'm excited about is that we discussed it. No rolling eyes, no "whatever", no "do what you want".
