2009 Bookings

I feel crazy worrying about booking next years room already but I am just about to book the flights so I guess not that crazy.

When do the rates for 2009 come out? I am hoping to get a AAA rate for our Feb 09 trip and wondered when they release the rates.

I believe Disney releases rates for the following year in August. I too am looking for Feb 09 rates and am trying to research AAA to see what is available as far room or package discounts to see if it is worth joining.

If you are interested in a AAA room only reservation, you can make a room only reservation now, by calling disney. They will charge you a one night deposit based on the peak 2008 rate for your resort. Then when the AAA rates are released you can call and apply the discount to your reservation, assuming a discount is available. If you are interested in a AAA package, since this needs to go through AAA, there is probably no advantage to making the room only reservation now.

You sure can! AAA room discounts can be applied to room only reservations at Disney hotels through CRO (assuming a discounted room is available). I've used these discounts consistently, but I've never made a ressie through AAA.

I've already made my reservation for the Poly in Jan 09, and will hopefully be able to apply a AAA discount when the rates come out. That happened in August last year.

I feel your pain...I really want to start planning a trip for late 2009 but I have to see if we can afford it first. At least now we have AAA so we can get some sort of discount!

I have my reservation for April 2009. When the AAA rates come out, I will try to get the discount applied. I have done this every time we have gone over the past few visits. The CM will most likely ask for the AAA card number when calling. They can do room only AAA discounts by calling disney, packages have to go through a AAA travel agent.
If you are interested in doing this, make sure you keep watch on the boards here. You will probably be able to find out when the AAA rates are released before many of the CMs know about it. Then when you call to have the discount applied to your reservation, if the CM says they don't think the rates are available yet, make sure to ask them to check. This happened to me in 2006, they were positive the rates weren't out, I asked them to check and sure enough the boards were right and I got the discount applied to my reservation.

If you want a package with the AAA room discount, then you need to make that reservation through a AAA travel agent. And you can't do that until the rates and packages are released. Right now all you can do is make a room only reservation for 2009. So if you are interested in a room only reservation with a AAA discount, you can reserve the room now. If you want a AAA package, there is no advantage to making the room only reservation now. It will only need to be cancelled.

The discounts are between 10 and 20 percent, depending on the resort and the time of year. When I go in April, I usually have been getting a 10 percent discount.

I booked our trip for September (free dining) at WL. We are talking about taking our dd to Disney for her 5th bday in May 2009. I am ready to book that trip now as well but I guess I will have to wait. Now I am wondering would it be worth it for me to purchase ap or just go with the 7 pass we have for Sept and a 4 day pass when we go in May 2009.

I am crazy too, I'm starting to plan our Oct 2009 trip My Mom may come with us and she has AAA already, so we will go through AAA. If she decides not to go, I guess I'll join AAA to make sure we get some kind of discount - since it's regular season and FD is over by the time we want to go.
