I don't know if it's too late and I haven't called yet for AAA rates for 2009. Thinking of 1st week in August 2009. Anyone know what the AAA rates are for GF, BC, or POR for that time of year?

Your best bet would be to call and see if there are any left with AAA discount. Those discounts were released 3 months ago - since there are a limited number of rooms available with AAA, they may be gone by now - but give a shot.

The day the rates were released, they were already out of YC Standard View rooms - I ended up getting a WV at YC for $348/night during value season.

Thanks. As soon as I get off work I'm going to call. Hopefully there is something left.

Well, I finally got a chance to call. I was told by the 1st CM the AAA rates for August 2009 are not available yet. I called back a second time and was told the same thing. I've received plenty of incorrect information from reservations CM's in the past, but never two in a row. Anyone successfully book a AAA rate for August 2009 direct with Disney?

They just may not be available for the resort you want. Call back and tell them to use code GSQ

we already booked AAA rates for value resort in September 2009, so I would guess the rates are definitely out for August! Not direct with Disney, though, was booked with our AAA TA.

I thought ALL the AAA discount rooms for 2009 were released last August, but I have no way to be sure of that fact. I would try calling again, I've been told it's too early when it's been too late.

I was able to book AAA rates for April, 2009 when they came out.

Maybe you can have them check other days/resorts to see if it's just your dates that aren't available?

Good luck -- any discount is better than no discount at all!;)

I booked my room in May for September 09 but at rack rate and when the new rates where released in August I got the AAA rate. Then in September I found out I could not go until December 09 and had my resis changed to Dec of 09 and I got to keep my AAA rate. I used my TA (not Disney or AAA) to book my room. You can book room only 499 days ahead from the last day of your planned trip. You pay rack rate and when the new rates come out if they know you are waiting to rebook at the AAA rate it should happen automatic. If you have a good TA like I have it takes the hassle out of the booking.

Could you clarify please, you dont mean to say disney will automatically apply a discount to your reservation do you?

I think they are referring to a AAA TA. However I would not assume any discount would be applied automatic by any TA.

Ok. I'm on the phone now and finally got a AAA quoted for a package, but they want $1565.00 downpayment. I never put down more than $200 in the past. Is this something new with AAA packages?

Deposit for a room only res is first nights deposit. Are you booking a club level suite that runs $1500/night?

I finally gave up. I was quoted a 10 day AAA package at GF with a standard room and 7 day park hopper tickets (not going to the parks all 10 days) for $4,618.14. The CM said they needed the first night deposit on the room and tickets paid in full which she said came to $1,565.00. I was expecting a one night deposit. I explained to her I have never put that much down on a package in the past and asked her to double check. When she came back on the line, she requoted rack rate and told me to put a one night deposit down and buy the tickets later. They lost the sale at that point. Why is Disney reservations so frustrating? I'll give them this much, THEY ARE CONSISTANT! After that call, I think I'm going to the Islands for some relaxation. :rotfl:

Ohhhhhhhhhhh its because you have to put the deposit for the room AND pay for the tickets. If you went through a AAA agent you can do a package with the $200 deposit. Just book the room and get the tickets later.

FYI they did nothing wrong. You cant book a AAA package ($200 deposit) unless you go through a AAA agent. If you add tickets to your res you have to pay for them right away. Just book the AAA room only and put the one nights deposit and add the tickets to the res later

Ok. I'll call back tomorrow and try to book a AAA room only. What you are saying is I will only have to put down one night deposit and get the tickets later. Sounds simple enough to me.

What I don't understand is I have booked packages directly with Disney in the past which included park tickets and never put down more than one night deposit. This is how I booked our last trip we just took this past August. It wasn't AAA, but a general public code.

Yes, you can book packages with Disney directly and only put down $200 deposit. However, you cannot book a package with a AAA discount on the room portion through Disney. A AAA package can be booked only by a AAA travel agent. What the original Disney CRO was booking for you was not a package; it was a AAA room only (one night's deposit), and park tickets which needed to be paid for at the time of purchase.

If you want a package, now or in the future, with a AAA discount on the room portion (let's say you decide you want to add the dining plan), you must go through AAA.

Ahhh! I wish the CM would have said that from the beginning. Thanks! I need some rest!!! I'll pick this up in the morning.
