Well, I got to go to the New England Flower Show this morning. Since we are Massachusetts Horticulture members, we got in at 7am and only shared the place with other members until 10am. After that the public was invited, so we left. The crowds when the public is invited are HUGE! Taking pics is impossible at that time.

So, here are some of the shots I got. I stayed away from just flower pics for the most part as I just don't like to photograph them all that much. I tried to be a little more creative with DOF and low light situations mainly.

All were shot with no flash, using the 50mm f1.8 lens. I only photoshopped the large waterfall as it had some signs in it that were distracting. Looking at the original now, I might actually like it better...

Here are the pics:

Love the photos, Andy. You got some very interesting shots. I can only imagine how packed that place would have been this afternoon with the nasty weather.

Thanks! Yeah, it gets rediculously crowded. We have gone the past two years and last year was the first I tried to photograph. It was terrible. People bumping into you, getting in the shots, etc. It was worth the $80 membership which gave us 3 "free" tickets to the show.

Nice photos! I really like these three especially. :flower2:

Thanks DisneySuite and Pea-N-Me,

I like those three alot too. It is amazing how shallow a DOF f1.8 can get you. The Wizard of Oz thing was a small display. Those characters were probably only about 3 inches high. Dorothy's right hand is not in focus but her face is. That is some real shallow DOF!

My only regret on the first one you posted is that I didn't try to get more DOF on it. I wish the water behind it and the bridge behind it were in slightly better focus. I would like them still out of focus, but not quite that much. Oh well, live and learn as you will soon see! :)

The pencils just really stood out as a nice shallow DOF pic to me and I was very happy with the result. I know for a fact that shots like that are due to people on the Dis here showing their pics and me stealing ideas, so I should thank everyone on here for that!

Very nice Andy, you have some really great shots here. Now it makes me want spring more than ever.

Thanks! I want Spring now too. I am all done with this Winter stuff. Bring on some color, I say!
