2008 Food Booths for Food and Wine!!!!

Hello yall, can anyone tell me if this event is affects regular ticket park goers?
For instance, if we are going to visit world showcase will we have to pay an additional fee just to visit that area? From what I have read and if I understand it correctly, the kiosks are free to everyone but it you want to attend actual events, then there is an additional fee?.

I tried searching the dis event info page but there was so much info I gave up after link #12. ;)

No, the kiosks are like any other food kiosks you'd go to buy your popcorn, your churros, etc. Except they serve appetizer sized portions of foods at each kiosk ranging around $2-5 per item.

The freebies are the cooking or wine demos listed in the festival guides that you can pick up everywhere. Always get to the scheduled demos around 30 minutes prior to the start time, 45 minutes or so on weekends. And if the demo is a celebrity chef, I'd probably go at least an hour in advance.

The dining events, from food and wine pairings, to Party for the Senses, to various multi-course meals are prepaid bookings that often sell out on the day the events are released to the public. (Party for the Senses never sells out that quickly, though.) Those events can range between $40 to $200 per person.

The details of what the kiosks will have and what the paid dining events are going to be are usually released (here and elsewhere) in the summer. Last year, it was late July before we knew the specifics.

Hello!
No - you don't have to pay anything additional to visit the world showcase. They have special little exhibits set up that are also free and associated with the Food and Wine Fest. The Food Booths set up around the lake and the special events are what you pay extra for. Have fun!:)

Hey thanks for the quick reply BriarRosie and Kabuki. It's amazing how overwhelming planning a trip can be but I knew I could count on fellow dis'ers to help me out. Thanks again. :grouphug:

A little more detail about the Fest!

The booths around World Showcase will be selling sample size dishes/wine/beer. Food costs are from $3-$6, wine & beer $3-$10.

There are daily FREE Wine tastings in the Festival Welcome Center ( last year this was in the former Wonders of Life Pavillion).
Also Cooking Demonstrations (with tastings) held in the Odyssey that are free. As well as Sam Adams beer tastings in the American Pavillion.

The Concerts are also free and are held at the American Gardens Theatre.

There's also wine walk-abouts. (I think that's what they're called.) Where you get a little passport thing, and sample a few wines for a set price.

Well one of the featured flavors coming soon as been added. So I guess that means it's a Go ( or Geaux! ;)) for New Orleans at the F&W Fest!

YES! :cool1: Thanks for posting this Shovan! Now if we can only have a segway-thru daiquiri stand it would be perfect!

;)

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be looking for more info on this. :)

San Francisco, United States
Strawberry Shortcake

Is it just me, but what about strawberry shortcake says SF? I can think of quite a few things that would represent SF well, but strawberry shortcake wouldn't make the list.

I so agree! San Fran. is a great food town but I can't think of when I have gone for the Strawberry Short Cake?
How about some Dungeness Crab or Sourdough Bread!?:confused3

OR CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE

You're not alone. To me, strawberry shortcake screams "Plant City, Florida" and nothing else. Certainly not SF....SF need to have some dungeness crab chowda' in a sourdough bread bowl from Fisherman's Wharf, some ghiradelli chocolate and an Irish Coffee from the Buena Vista...

I agree, I mean even Rice a Roni;) , would be more San Fran than Strawberry Short Cake!

The only thing I can think of, is they are highlighting the development of the Rail Road, being able to transport fruit across the nation??? :confused3

Or maybe it's just a misprint!

Chocolate would be great for San Francisco, don't you guys think? Isn't SanFran the home of Ghiradelli?

My guess is b/c most strawberries come from California. Here in GA most of the strawberries I see in our Kroger, Publix etc come from California. My family lives about 30 minutes outside SF. I remember going every summer out there to visit and getting the biggest yummiest strawberries. Anyways that's my guess but I do agree there are better things that could represent SF better.
