2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

I need to figure out a hotel and what days I want to stay. I know I need to stay the night before (the 30th) and I guess the night after because I know I will want a place to shower and change after the Half.

Depending on your pace, you will probably have time to shower after the race. It usually starts at 6:00, so if you finish by 10:00, you should have time to hustle back to the hotel, shower, and check out by 11:00. It all depends on how rushed you want to be or your pace.

Oh boy! Looks like I will be registering DH and myself tonight.....I still can't believe it! I was complaining to DH that I didn't get a special bonus medal for doing WDW and DL in 2006 (well, I did get the inaugural DL medal, but still that is not a special third medal). Anyway, he asked when DL was, I told him, next thing I know he calls to tell me he has that Friday and Tuesday off - he completed the half in WDW and he wants the special bonus medal. What the heck!?! I am supposed to be the one ready to travel at the drop of a hat and the hint of a medal - not him! I guess we're going to DisneyLAND!

Susie, I will be calling Candy Cane Inn tonight, hopefully they will still have room. We stayed there in 2006 and liked it alot. I am still in shock, but in a good way I guess. Now I'm going to have to start watching SWA for when they open up their schedule, and hope for some cheap seats!

BTW, I usually do my long runs on Saturday mornings @ 9:00 AM from LA/Madera to LA/Yosemite and back. If you see me, wave hi!

Depending on your pace, you will probably have time to shower after the race. It usually starts at 6:00, so if you finish by 10:00, you should have time to hustle back to the hotel, shower, and check out by 11:00. It all depends on how rushed you want to be or your pace.

I bet, or would like to think you could get an extra hour with a late check out. I hope that is the case, but should be able to make it either way. I think we have a 2:00 Super Shuttle to LAX.

Ya, I was thinking if check out is usually 11:00 I could probably stay till noon. Do you guys think DL will be crowded that day (Sunday) of the day after (Labor Day)? I'm not sure what day to actually go to DL.

Oh ARG....decisions, decisions. We ran the inaugural 5K with our daughter and have wanted to step up to the 1/2. Last year had a baby and was hoping to do this this year. But Labor Day Weekend!!?? We locals don't go to Disneyland on Labor Day Weekend. Thats just crazy talk!

I don't think I can bring my DD8 down to run and not go to the Park but the crowds will be horrible.

Was really hoping Disney would not choose to do this on Labor Day every year. HHHmmmm...guess I have a decision to make.

It is really cool to see someone from hometown on the boards.
Do you run on LA or along the wash?
Doing any of the local 1/2's coming up? We're doing The Great Race and the Santa Barbara Wine Country.

My route is pretty much the same: Start at the 24hr Fitness, right on LA Ave, up to Tapo Canyon, a quick break @ Lemon Park, and head back home. It's a long run(for me, at least) but it's a good barometer for my conditioning.

Races for me this year are the Gator Run (part of the Cajun Festival), DL 1/2 Marathon (of course), LA Triathlon, and the Malibu Triathlon. I'll mix in a couple of crits here and there, too. If you ever want to meet up for a run, let me know! I'm slow but run a steady pace...

Hi guys...

We're so excited to be going to run DL! We *HAVE* to make our reservations soon...but we're torn. So locals, DL experts, etc....PLEASE help us....here are our options assuming there are still rooms available:

Disneyland Hotel
Paradise Pier
Candy Cane Inn
Carousel
BW Park Place
Hotel Menage

We'd really to stay onsight...is it worth the exra $$$? Between DLH and PPH which would you suggest? We will not have a car.

Soooo excited as we are not DL experts...no idea where to eat, stay etc. Just know that the special medal has called to us so we're there!
