2008 DDP: Wouldn't take much to make me happy...

I am not counting on anything-just wishful thinking on my part since I am simply more of an appetizer person and do not have much of a "sweet tooth."

Heck DH and I would both order appetizers and if we felt the need for desert pay out of pocket for it. We would much rather have an appetizer with a meal then desert.

I agree. If Disney is going to eliminate an item, we should at least have a choice. I think Disney fails to understand the psychological impact of taking away a benefit AND eliminating choice. CHOICE is a big concept. If they are going to take away they should at least give a choice. For me, I generally don't get a dessert, but I do get an appetizer. The lost appetizer and the 18% price increase (via the removal of tip) makes the DDP a bust for me. This combined with the ticket price increase on Sunday makes the summer of '07 the "Summer of DIScontent"!

I know this has been discussed to death but I am in total agreement with the OP. I don't care one bit about dessert. DH and I never order it and wouldn't miss it one bit. But appetizers... Well, we like appetizers. I like to try different things in small sizes and appetizers is the perfect time to do it.

I'm not sure we would order the DDP next time anyway because we will have a very petite 10 yo with no appetite, but eliminating the appetizer makes it that much more unlikely for us.

I totally agree & thought of that the other day as well! And whenever possible I make a meal out of apps & desserts, but would rather have an app over a dessert some days!!

We agree about wishing that it would be a choice between apps and dessert. Even on the DDP, we usually skipped the dessert - I'm diabetic and the carbs just aren't worth it to me. But I do like to have an appetizer like a soup or salad. But Disney will do what it finds to be the most effective for their bottom line. Then we get to choose whether or not we buy the package.

Just chiming in that I totally agree. That was my thought when I first saw the new plan. If it were a choice of appy or dessert I would be much happier with the plan. We always like to have an appy but don't always have room for dessert. But other times we might see something we really want to try on the dessert menu and forego the appy to save room. It would be nice if it were a choice.
