With the new holiday surcharges that Disney is putting on some of the character/buffet locations during prime times (ie Easter), does anyone know if the DDP will still cover the full meal cost? I looked at the meals for our upcoming trip and OUCH, these holiday surcharges are steep for a family of 5. Now the DDP makes alot more sense if it covers this increased cost. Anyone know?

It covers the increased cost of the character and buffet locations.

I don't see that as a make or break for the DDP though. The only way you'd save money is if you were only saving less than $4/day doing the plan vs not doing the plan.

If anyone is that close, only saving a few dollars a day, I would have recommended that they do the plan - surcharges or not. Disney is full of extra little expenses.

I'm still just a bit confused - we just moved to FL and are looking to get an annual pass. Does that mean we canNOT get the DDP?

Just recently WDW began to permit annual passholders to book a room plus the dining plan with no ticket requirement. It's still considered a package, though, and package rules apply for deposit, payment and cancellation. You must have at least one adult annual pass at checkin.

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I was looking at the Pinochhio's Village Haus menu on Allearsnet.com and noticed there weren't any kid's selections. Is that correct? And if so, how do we order for our kids if we're on the DDP?

The DDP states something like "children must order from the Children's Menu where available...", so I'm guessing this is one of the few (?) places that doesn't offer a separate kid's menu. In that case, they are free to order anything.

I have purchased a Deluxe Dining Plan for my family of four. On the deluxe plan, does it matter if your credits are Table Service or Counter Service? It was my understanding when we made our ADRs that we could choose any three meals a day from any of the table service restaurants that accepts the plan. We have made reservations for table service lunches and dinners.

Is this correct? Or do we have to allocate any of the three daily meals to counter service?

You are understanding it correctly - with the deluxe plan, you can choose from table service OR counter service meals; it's up to you (definitely a better value for your money if you go with mainly table service meals - and honestly, if I paid the deluxe dining plan price, I'd be using ALL table service credits).

Where many people take breaks in the middle of the day for naps, we intend to have nice, long table service lunches and later dinners at signature restaurants. I presume that the table service lunches would include appetizer, entree, and dessert...same as dinner?

Sorry if I am being dull but I have a question on the 'activation' off the DDP. By that I mean, can you only start using it on the day you intend to go to the parks for the first time?

Example - We are arriving Tuesday evening but not planning on going to the parks until Wednesday. Could we use the DDP for dinner on Tuesday night or must it coincide with the days we will be in utilizing the parks (ie Wednesday through Saturday). Same question at the end. If we have credits left, could we use them on Sunday before leaving for the airport (purchased a 4 day park-hopper for Wed-Sat)

The Dining Plan is "activated" when you get your room keys for your hotel (even if your room isn't ready yet).

I think this plan will work great for your family. Yes, the table service lunches do include an appetizer, entree and dessert. Breakfast includes juice plus an additional non-alcoholic beverage. Plus each person gets 2 snacks per night, and the refillable resort mug. In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the official brochure for the deluxe plan. Hope you have a great trip!

I know Bicker talked about the "activation" of the dining plan, but to clarify further for your specific question: you can use your meal credits from the time you check-in until midnight on the day you check out. Your plan to use credits on Sunday before leaving for the airport would work fine. The only thing that you have to remember is that if you have a reservation for a restaurant in a park, you have to have park admission for that day. The other days you would need to choose restaurants on the plan, but outside the parks (such as resorts or Downtown Disney). Hope this helps!

I have seasonal tickets
I have booked a room with a 40% off code
If I want to buy the DDP, do I have to give up the 40% code?

Disney will not stack discounts. So with my 40 percent off for 2 rooms at a value I have 7 nights is 778. With "free" dining I will have to cancel my room pay rack rate. So I figured out 2 rooms at rack rate, tax and tip included...I guesses 15 dollars a day. It was about 1400 dollars. So the cost went up about 88 dollars a day, which will allow my family to eat VERY well. We could probably eat for less than that for my family of 5 as we are very frugal, but we wouldn't get all of the food or desserts. You also have to buy at least a 1 day ticket and so all of this makes it a package. With a room only reservation you can just need one night's deposit and pay the rest when you get there and can cancel within 6 days. With the package you will need a 200 dollar deposit, and pay in full at 45 days out or you pay a 100 dollar penalty if you cancel after that, more within 6 days. So you have to crunch your numbers and decide which is best. If you use a 40 percent off at a deluxe, "free" dining is probably more expensive for you than the 40 percent off. But crunch the numbers.
