2008 DDP discussion, questions, rants and vents

Thanks I should meation that we don't eat seafood and I'm a bit of a picky eater.

Just so we are clear, what does the 2008 DDP include? This is only our second trip and this will be the first time we use the DDP. I know grat. is not included and quite frankly that doesn't bother me.

We have booked to eat at the Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast (2 TS), 1900 Park Fare for Dinner, and the 50's Prime Time Cafe for dinner. We don't want to "overbook" ourselves for dinners and miss time in the parks. Will it be easy to still use TS meals?

Can you sub meals?
Interestingly enough, CRT is considered to be in the 'dinner show' category. This means the gratuity IS covered by your DDP credits - but remember, it costs two credits per person, and as a preplated meal, I'm pretty sure you can't share one meal between two people.

Okay - tell us what you WILL eat and we'll be happy to come up with suggestions (such as, for example, Narcoossee's has a filet, and probably at least one chicken or pork entree, if you don't want seafood).

WHY?!?! You get the same service @ POFQ for less than 1/2 the cost! Having continental breakfast incl. really isn't worth that much extra expense. Well I hope it does work out for you though, good luck & most important HAVE FUN!!!:goodvibes :yay:

OK. Sometimes I am good at deciphering the acronyms, but...POFQ? :confused3 I'm kinda new to the boards.

We plan on doing other TS meals, we just don't want to have to book them in advance. We want the freedom to go when we want. We may even us some TS meals for lunch. That way we can rest our feet and enjoy a good meal. We just don't want to feel like we have to plan everything and then run around to make those times. We booked the ones we did because they are popular and hard to get into from what we've been told. We also have the resort which has the Maya Grill, I think.

With the current value of the DDP, for folks that prefer to "wing it," it may be better to not book the DDP at all. JMO. The break even point is too close to risk not using your TS credits for TS meals.

I think we've figured it out. Were going to look at what days we want to do what park and make plans based on that. We are even thinking of using 2 TS to get pizza delivered or something like that. We have 9 and were already using 4. I think we can find a way to use the other 5.

I totally agree with that assessment. The savings were huge on the DDP in its former incarnation, but since the margin is so much smaller now it could mean you will lose money if you do not get to eat all of your TS meals.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for your help everyone. As of now we have 8 of our 9 TS meals booked. I was even able to score ADR at Le Cellier (I know I spelled it wrong) this morning for dinner.

OK, I think I've been reading too many posts today...

could someone please give me the final answer to:

Are the gratituties included in the DDP 2008 or not?

Thank you everyone!:flower3:

Ok after reading all of the posts here my wife and I have decided to drop the dinner plan from our package and wing it. We don't have any probs having dinner at stands etc. popcorn:: :drinking1 if we can't get into a TS. We don't want to place reservations for June and then end up at the back of MK and remember we have a 6pm res in Epcot. Plus all the changes they've made have made it less appealing. Thanks for all the info.

I just saw the notices that the costs of TS meals has increased over the Easter/Spring break period. It seems like adult meals have increased by $4.00 and children's by $2 on average. Since the cost of the DDP plan was not increased during that period, we're getting a better deal, right? Am I interpreting this accurately or not?

Also, quick question for you DDP veterans. Based on the ADPs we've already made (for 15 people) it turns out that they are all for breakfasts (character breakfasts, of course). We figure the little ones will be in a better mood during this time of day as opposed to dinnertime, plus the characters are not as active for dinners based on my research. One exception is the Hoop de doo Review dinner. Are we losing some of the value of the DDP by doing primarily breakfasts?

Also, I'm thinking the 2 TS credits for Hoop de Doo is a worth it rather than OOP since the tip IS INCLUDED for dinner shows, right? What are you opinions on that?

I'm new to these boards and haven't been to Disney since 2001.

Thanks in advance for your input!

The tip is ONLY included on the deluxe plan, not basic. If you booked the basic dining plan, you will STILL pay gratuity.
