Hi guys! I finished W2D3 yesterday. Yikes! I have to jog 3 minutes tomorrow?
Wow! You were right. I was very nervous about jogging 3 minutes but I just started jogging, grooved to the music and concentrated on my surroundings instead of the clock ticking away. I couldn't believe when Robert Ullrey said I was done! On the final 3 minutes he tells you when you only have 1 minute left and I picked up the paceI promise it won't be as bad as you expect. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't that much more difficult than the 90 sec. intervals were. I did make sure that I went fairly slow in the begining. It helped.
Keep it up -you're doing great and believe me we all had our struggles but just keep putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it you'll be running 3.1 miles!![]()
You all are doing great! I kept a running journal when I did the C25K (still am keeping it) and it's fun to read back and see what I was thinking and how I was feeling each step of the way!
I am now running 3.5 - 4 miles 4 times a week and although I don't break any speed records I am totally addicted to running! I am thinking about signing up for the Princess 1/2 in March 2010...wow I can't believe I just typed that! I need a goal to push me beyond my running distances now and I think that would be the perfect motivator.
BUT I still need to run my first 5k! When I first started C25K it was with a 5k in mind at the end of April. When the 5k came I chickened out thinking I wasn't running far enough without any walking, at the time I was only running 2 miles. I am now kicking myself for not doing it! I am now looking for another 5k to do soon and I think I'll do the 5k during the DL Half over Labor Day if we will be in town.

I've just GOT to respond to you that you will be doing something many others cannot. You go and do your best and be happy!I have my first 5K two weeks from today and I am so nervous because I am only running for 2 miles and about 25 mins right now. I have no choice but to go ahead with it because I've already paid. But I wish I was feeling more confident.
I wish I would have kept a running journal, I keep looking back and I'm amazed at the transformation.
Keep up the good work everyone!

I bought one of those spibelts last week and today was my first workout with it. I loved it. It held my iPhone and I didn't have any silly "technical" difficulties I did when I was holding the phone ot having it bounce around in my WDW fanny back.

For those of you that run first thing in the morning, what do you eat before you go?
Thanks to everyone on this threadI was inspired to start the Ct5K and this morning I just finished W3D2. I can't believe I am doing this.
If U Had Wings: Thanks for your last post. I felt really encouraged reading about your experience with week 4. I am doing okay in week 3 but those 5min runs in week 4 have me nervous. A whole extra 2 minutes. Will I really be ready to make that leap?
My other big question for people who are ahead of me. Has anyone run for distance instead of time? I really like using the podcasts (I make my own) but am not sure how to do it for distance which is less predictable than time.
Also, I am running every other day and not 3 days/week. I think if I took off an extra day I would lose momentum/motivation. But, is that extra rest day really important for recovery? Where do people use it? Always between one week and the next?
Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I can honestly say that reading all of your stories really helped me find the courage to start.
You are in the right place! Join in here!Is this thread still open to newbies? Or is there a 2009 C25K thread somewhere I'm not seeing?
How is everyone doing this week? I just finished my longest run yet, 32 minutes!!! A little over 2 miles. Only 10 days until my first 5K.
If U had Wings, I have experienced some minor upper body soreness, just a little. I thought maybe I was holding my arms and shoulders tight.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. When I walk/jog I feel OK and after I really feel successful. The next day I want to jog again. Jog, jog, jog. But I don't because I need to rest. The day after that, the "edge" or desire to jog is muted and I have to plan my jog or it doesn't get done. Then I skip TWO days so I can be on a M-W-F schedule and Monday was a holiday and felt like a Sunday all day and yesterday it was raining all day and now I sit on my butt today and have not jogged since last Friday! Arrrg!
To make matters worse, I invited my tubby hubby to do the program with me when I started almost a month ago and last week after I can back crowing how I ran 3 minutes straight he said "What? You didn't wait for me? I want to jog too." *sigh* He probably didn't think I could do it and now wants to try himself. SO NOW I feel like I need to go back to Week 1 so I can be on track with him and I think I'm depressed and annoyed. I also now have to motivate two of us to get out the door this week. Hence, the Memorial Day, rain, etc problem. Once he goes back on the road it will be up to him to make it to they gym for a jog on the treadmill or outside and I'm not sure he'll keep up. *double sigh*
