2008 - C25K program :) WELCOME!!

Scrump, great job on getting that 20 minutes done. The next two days on the program are actually easier.

Liz, good luck on your 5K this weekend, how exciting! I have a fun run/walk 5K this weekend for my boys' school. I'm trying to decide if I want to try to run it to see how I do or just enjoy the day walking with my family. We'll see.

Congratulations on graduating!

I did 25 minutes straight last night, then walked for 2 minutes and ran another 11. It's so strange that last week I was struggling to run 8 minutes and now this. I am trying to get out and at least walk everyday. I think that is helping.

Have a great day everyone!

I did W5D3 two days ago and boy did I STRUGGLE. It was supposed to be the 20 minute run, but I ran 10 minutes and then ran and walked for the rest of the time. I was a little bummed, but overall happy that I at least ran more than the 8 minutes from the previous run.

Anyway, I decided to repeat the 20 minute run for the week, so I went out today and ran it! The weather helped, as it was a crisp and comfortable day. I'll just keep doing 20 minutes for the rest of the week and see how I feel by the weekend and asses whether I move on or not.

Woo hoo!

Liz - Good luck on your first 5k this weekend! I am sure you'll do great and you might even run faster do to the excitement of the day!:goodvibes I'll be looking forward to reading all about it! I am trying to find a fun 5k to do here this summer. I can always do the Disneyland 5k over Labor Day but I want to do one before that. We'll see...:)

Yes, I have officially graduated! I am now running 3.1+ miles regularly but I have not run for 4 days (this is the longest I've gone between runs since starting) so I'll probably not do 3.1 miles tonight.

Wow! Congratulations everyone! It's hard to believe that I will be running 20 minutes and more in just a few weeks :cool1:.

W2D1 is done! I did it (*gasp*) in the rain. OK, OK ... in the drizzle. The first few intervals were pretty easy so I pushed myself a bit more and was out of breath on the last one but I recovered easily.

I bought some new Nike shoes and new bermuda length Nike shorts to go with them. Now I need an armband for my iPhone where I don't have to remove the phone from it's current case.

Congrats on finishing your first day of w2. I found it tough, but the rest intervals were nice and long!

Today I did my first day of week 3. The first 3 min. run was a bit rough, but the second one went much better. I was having problems with my breathing throughout my workout, so I'm thinking that my asthma is starting to act up. It tends to bother me seasonally and I'm really aware of all the scents out there. I'm very happy though that I made myself run through all 3 minutes of the workout.

Today I went and picked up my race packet. My very first bib! lol I'm #238. So think happy 5K thoughts for #238 this Saturday at 8am!! :hyper: woohoo!

How exciting! Are you nervous? I will be walking a 5K with my family at the same time. My tshirt came for the Race for the Cure. I'm getting nervous. I'm up to about 2 miles. I have some more work to do.

I'm not nervous about the 5K itself, I know I can do it in a decent (for me) time. I am a little nervous about the whole "race thing" though. Just because it's something I've never done, fear of the unknown, you know? I'm more excited though, it's fun doing new things and after doing it once I'll know what it's all about.

I'll be thinking of you while I'm out there!! Have fun with your family! :)

I'm back from my first 5K, and it went GREAT!!!! You guys, I did it in 28 minutes!!!!!!!!:eek::eek: I could not believe it, still can't!

My chip time was actually 28m37s but it took me 37 seconds to get to the start line. My dh timed me and it was 28 minutes exactly. He couldn't believe it either. He had to scramble for the camera when he suddenly saw me coming along to the finish. We both thought that I would finish in NO LESS than 31 minutes or so. Never did either of us think I would get in under 30! I just can't believe it!!!

The race overall was SO much fun!!! I know why people get addicted to it now. It was just really cool being apart of the group running for the same goal. It was so much more fun than all the training runs I've been doing alone. Not even comparable!

So anyway, there you have it! I began the Couch to 5K program on February 22nd of this year, and today, May 16th, I did my first 5K, and I did really well. I am feeling so proud of myself right now!

Oh and my 33rd birthday is tomorrow. I was excited when I first saw that this 5K today was on my bday weekend. I'll always remember that on my last day of being 32, I officially became a RUNNER!!! :goodvibes

Liz that is awesome!!!!! What a great time!

I had so much fun at our little 5K. I had planned on walking. I stayed up way too late last night and I was pushing the stroller. I thought it was going to be a leisurely stroll with the family. But my DS8 decided he was going to run. So I thought he would run for a few minutes and then drop back and walk with us. Well once he was out of sight I spent the rest of the time walk/running trying to find him. I finally did at the finish line. I was not prepared at all, had no water, hadn't eaten either.

But I am so totally addicted!! I am ready for my 5K in June and getting ready to look for some more to sign up for after that.

You must have been so worried! I'm glad you found him at the finish line.

Luckily there weren't that many people and we knew most of them. But I was pretty worried. He finished in 42 minutes, I'm still waiting to see my results posted.

My time was 47 minutes. Started as a leisurely strolll. Walked and jogged. I guess now I have a time to beat when I do my real 5K in a couple weeks.

Liz, a BIG CONGRATS :cheer2: to you on becoming a runner!! And a happy belated!!!

I haven't been able to log in in a while, so I need to figure out exactly where I am, but I think I am somewhere in Week 6. I'm transitioning from the 20 minute run to the 25, so am really looking forward to that next step up.

Cwnhokie, good to hear about your race, too! Good luck, everybody!:thumbsup2

Congrats on your race! That's wonderful.

Real life has unfortunately been reeking havoc on my running time lately. On a normal day it's crazy enough. (I leave my house at 6:30 am, and don't get back in until after 7pm). This past week I had events and work nearly every night. I only was able to get one run in from my week 3. :headache: I'm going to try to get another run in when I get home from my yoga class tonight even though it will be late. I've just been feeling so draggy and lazy lately. If not today then I'll defintely sneak in a run tomorrow.

Since I started running, I've really been wishing I lived just a little bit closer to where I work. The extra 4 hours I spend commuting never bothered me that much before, but now that I want to spend it doing something good it's driving me nuts. I keep trying to get up early to run, but my body really wants no part of getting up at 4:30 to run. I've yet to convince it.

I went out last night for my W3D2 run and it went great. It was a bit slower than my day 1 run, but was so much easier this time on the 3 minute runs. The first 3 min. run is the tough one, the second one always seems so much easier. I don't get why, but I'm not going to argue.:confused3 I'm not happy that my runs ended up being a week apart, but this week is looking much better for getting my runs in.

The weather was perfect last night. I wish I could go for all my runs in weather like that. Warm with just the slightest cool breeze. Perfect.

That's great that you got right back to it and didn't let that week turn into months.

We did two miles again last night, I can't seem to get past that. And I only have a little over 2 weeks until my 5K. I have to work on getting that extra mile in.
