2008 at a glance

jupiter is brighter, i believe.

No actually the brighter one would be Venus, or the one on the left. Jupiter is on the right. Also, Patti your pic doesn't show it, but the constellation Sagittarius was out that night too.

I probably wouldn't have been able to see it anyway. Disney's too bright for much stargazing. I much prefer the unlit woods around my house for looking at the sky.

here it is, the moon, venus, and jupiter:

The big one is the moon (duh) and the two littler specks of light are jupiter and venus, though I'm not sure which is which. Taken from the exit of BTMRR, so the thing at the bottom of the photo is Splash Mountain.

That's really cool!
My aunt took a shot just like that [she's a photographer], sorry it's so tiny, it was huge and I attempted to resize it xD:

I wish I could've saw that, that's really cool!

Your aunt was using a much better camera than I. I envy people's cameras.

Because I need a better one. Like a Canon Rebel. I got to use my friend's for a day last track season and I fell in love with it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she uses a Canon 20D. My mom gave it to her when she got the Canon 40D. My aunt makes great use of her 20D though!

I heard that on one side of the world it looked like a frowning face and on the other side it looked like a smiley face...it was cool.
I didn't get to see the moon thing though.

Same here.
I won't miss it, I'm glad it's going away.
I want to start over fresh.

I love the idea of starting over and the whole concept of a new year.
It makes me feel so alive. Lol.
Even though it doesn't really change me, I feel better, and that everything earlier doesn't matter.

I loved 2008! :goodvibes
Overall, it was a GREAT year!!
I love change!! but every once in a while theres stuff things I'm sad to see change... and 2008 would be one of them :(.

I'm scared for 2009, but I have a feeling I'm going to like it WAAAAYYY more!!

So that's why the moon seemed so big... There was actually a scientific reason behind it.

Ah well. It was gorgeous!

well......2008 was generally a really great year for me. .
the last month and a bit have been quite hellish, but other than that the other 10 months were amazingggg!

I got to see jack johnson in concert (with mason jennings!) i went to wdw with my family for 10 days and had the greatest trip ever! all my friends and i turned 19 (which is the 21 of canada so you can imagine i celebrated quite a bit!) i got to meet in person 2 of my friends who i actually met on neopets like 7 years ago (in disney world nonetheless) and we are all so much closer now. in the past couple months i've been getting closer with sme old friends. i went to niagara falls for a few days with some of my best friends which was such a great time. and i just had some realllly fun times and made some great memories. im really hoping that things start looking up for me soon and i can get back on top. hopefully 2009 is a fresh start for me.

2008 kinda sucked.
but really good things happened too.

I met one of my bestest friends.
I started working at a job that I love.
my best friend and I beat rock band, haha. LEGENDARY STATUS! 58 songs...in a rowwww! After playing until 5AM, she and I went to the store, bought energy drinks, and played until 11AM finishing the 58 songs in a row.
I made myself much more available to my friends, making my balance of friends, romance, and family much better. I now hang out with Jenn at least once a week, and Chelsea all the time.
I learned about a lot of amazing music.

The first half of 2008 sucked. I started the year off, literally, with a major allergic reaction. I spent New Years at home doped up on Benadryl and covered in Sarna. I'd just started a new antibiotic (I'm allergic to penicllin, and this med had a "less that 1% chance of having a reaction even though it was in the penicillin family". Well, I had a reaction - a rash from head to toe.

Then I was still on chemo until April. I had a scare after that, they found something in my lung. I wasn't walking, I felt bad all the time.

The tail half of 2008 was great though. I went to California, I started walking, I went back to school. In short, I got my life back.

2008 was ok for me. It started out sad with Heath Ledger dying, I don't know why but that just made me so so sad. It still does. I have trouble thinking about it. So much talent gone.

I worked all summer. That basically took up all of my time.

I turned 20, which is crazy.

I went out west!!! I really liked that. It was a lot of fun. There is now so much more I want to see of America.

My oldest dog, Cindy, died the day after we left on vacation. I think it was the best way she could have gone though. I was having trouble dealing with if we should have put her to sleep or not and what if she had died at home...I wouldn't have wanted to see her after she died.

I finished my first year of college!

The economy just sucks.

Overall, I'm looking forward to 2009.

This hit me harder than a ton of bricks, and I didn't even know the guy. I was in the hospital getting a blood transfusion, surfing the net, and eating chicken nuggets and barbecue sauce. I went to MSN and saw "HEATH LEDGER DEAD" in the breaking news bar. I fuh-reaked! We turned the TV on and sure enough, he was gone. :sad1:

Same. I never knew him, never met him, I'd never even seen him walking down the street. But his death hit me hard. It was a tough thing to hear. I couldn't believe it. I've always been a fan of his movies and I guess I always thought he'd be like Clint Eastwood- making movies until he was just plain OLD. But now he's not and I have to realize that my kids will never see a new release of a Heath movie. They'll never experience his work like I did. There will be no lining up for tickets for his films any more. there won't be massive hype.

I'll miss seeing new movies from him. Sure, I've got most of the old ones. But it's not the same. He's going to be the next James Dean.

It was an OK month. Beginning was bad, middle was good, so far the ending has been good, with the last 2 weeks being great. Now i'm kinda sad, because Woolworths has gone bankrupt and closed D-:

About the Moon... Could that be where I always saw the Moon when in WDW. No matter what the time was, it was out, shining.

Meg, it's Caylee Anthony.

Devan, the moon was AMAZING that night. We were in Newark, almost by NYC, and you could see the planes zoom by the moon. It was wicked. And when the clouds covered up the moon, I could've sworn I was in Pirates of the Caribbean : Curse of the Black Pearl. The moon looked EXACTLY the same as it did in the movie.

My parents were in Newark the day befor that to see Harry Connick Jr

The start of 08, was great. High School was going good and everything.

From September to now it's been a train wreck.
Grandma dying, pushy/annoying/stalker girlfriend, etc.

First half of 2008 was pretty darn awful. At that point I was apart from my BF, and had a lot of bitterness and anger towards him. But in May we got back together. :)

I worked all summer, and my mom had a baby girl in July. Another trip to disney too. So fun!

This fall I started my sophomore year in college which has been great. I can't believe its almost over.

Christmas time is here, and I'm so thankful for everything that has happened. I'm not sure what I would of done if it hadn't happened!

sounds like you had a good year my year was pretty good i started high school and graduated middle school had some fun grad parties uh there was a fair at my middle school which i went to that was fun but yeah high school is awesome great year

2008 has been frickin' nuts. Looking back to January, it seems like years and years ago, or maybe a month or two. It's just been insane. It feels like almost everything that could've happened, did happen. And honestly, I'm not gonna miss this year at all. There were plenty of great things, but overall it was just too darn crazy. Bring on '09.
