Laurie--we're Orioles fans, sorry!

We were lucky enough to fly down with the Iron Man himself, Cal Ripken, to Orlando in December 2006. We were SHOCKED to see him on our Southwest flight. We were boarding and I took dsthen5 straight to the back of the airplane to the bathroom because he had to go real bad and when we came out, we saw dsthen9 and dh sitting across from Cal and his publicist. We wanted to respect his privacy so we didn't say anything but hello. His publicist started talking DH/DS9 about the shows they were watching on our lap top (Adam 12) and then Cal (who had been sleeping) joined in the conversation. By by the time we got off in Florida, his publicist saw my camera I carry everywhere and asked if we'd like a picture with him. Of course we jumped at the chance. The guy behind Cal heard us talking about baseball (both our boys play in a local Cal Ripken leauge) and asked if he played. Cal said "yeah, for 28 years". Most people did not even recognize him but the lady in front of him asked him to sign her airplane napkin for her brother.

Congratulations!:cool1: I would love to go see opening day (and you know this will be a great game...revenge hopefully) I was thinking of buying the 6 pack too but DH's coworker has season tickets with great seats so DH would rather just buy some games from him. I really also want to try for Billy Joel at Shea tickets that go on sale Saturday!

COOL - I was looking for info on Billy Joel tix - I would love to go too! Except it is DS's 9th Bday that night - so, I am not sure if I should go! LOL My sis turns 30 in May, she lives in FL - she loves Billy Joel, and would consider coming up for the show, so, I was going to get her tix for her bday, but, like I said, not sure if the timing is right! LOL

We have really bad seats for the 6 pack, but who cares! We just want to be there - we have done opening day a few times, the feeling in that stadium is unbelievable. Since we moved here, we have gone to a few Mets/Philies game at Citizen's Bank Ballpark (and went to see Bon Jovi there too! ;) ;) ) Anyway, it is an interesting time at the phillies stadium - the crowd gets a little rough to say the least!

LET'S GO METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Someday I'll share my spring training stories - don't want to bore the rest of the crowd w/them!! :scared1: Have you ever gone? It's GREAT!

Laurie

That sounds like a good idea. Sandy was it you that took part in a fish extender exchange on your last cruise ? so how did it work then ? did you set up a cost limit ? how did you all decide what to buy ?

I have already been looking at ideas from the UK, as no-one should already have these things

I don't mind setting up the list :thumbsup2

Mandy -

I am in, add me to your list - and I think Sandy said she did take part in the exchange on her cruise - so, she will be a BIG help w/this as well!!

This sounds like fun..hmmmm, what to buy, what to buy!

Do we wrap these things? Do we write on it somewhere who its from or is it a secret???

Gotta run - boys are fighting...UGH

People just decided on their own how much they wanted to put into it. Most of what we received were little trinkets. One person from Scotland brought post cards from there and couple other little things. There were little containers of bubbles, bottle holders, tattoos, candy, playing cards, etc. It was fun to check our fish "mail" every day.

The kids on that sailing also did a secret Mickey exchange. Small gifts costing $5 or less that were anona"mouse"ly delivered. Then on the last afternoon of the cruise they all met up. My son loved this.

Most gifts were in little gifts bags with a tag or sticker with who they were from.

We will have to get more details as it gets closer, like - do we do it on certain days, or all at once or what?

Also, I like the secret mickey thing, but it'll probably be impossible to get the group together at one time ya know, this is only 4 days - so much to do so little time!! LOL

We should breakdown the kids ages and the clubs and things they will be in.. so we can get an idea of who will be with who.

I can't wait to run to the store tomorrow and get some ideas for this. It sounds like fun to be running up and down the halls giving out trinkets.

OK Girls, I've been onto our first page and removed our stateroom numbers/locations, just incase there are any naughty people on the boards who maybe figuring out where our rooms are, and want to interfere with our Fish Extenders :)

Sandy - did you deliver things everyday ? or just make one delivery during your cruise ?

Great idea Laurie - they could always give a gift each day and it could remain a truly secret Mickey :)

For the FE gifts. You can give them on whatever day you like, whatever time of day you would like. We usually give ours on pirate night.pirate:

What might be an idea, would be to send me a PM with the names of everyone in your family and then put an idea of what they like - for example

Mandy - likes Stitch, Mickey, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter
Paul - likes Soccer, LA Galaxy (David Beckham), Pirates,
Kerry (17) - likes Nightmare before Christmas, Tinkerbell, Hot Topic
Becky (15) - likes Stitch, Dalmatians, Nightmare before Christmas, Hot Topic

and that could give people ideas - like if you enjoy reading, someone may get you a bookmark - that kind of thing - does that make sense ?

and then maybe we could arrange to drop things on various days, so that we don't get things all at once

When we've figured it all out, you can start PMing me - how does that sound ? Then when we've got everyones details, I'll send a PM to you all
