Sandra i am so sorry about samantha. I know how scary that can be. I'm glad she is feling better now and u can relax a little :thumbsup2

Mandy, Jeff was shopping for a motorcycle a few weeks ago..lol..men don't ever grow up. I talked him out of it temporarily. I reminded him when he had his last one when we were dating and he almost killed himself..:rotfl2: I am sure he will sneak off again without me sometime in the future.

I hope everyone had a nice Easter. We had a nice time with my parents, sister and brother and their families. We've eaten our fair share of ham and chocolate! The boys "won" $25 when their horses won in Charlestown. I didn't win in the slots but my mom won $680 on a $2 machine. A guy nearby was playing the $1 slots and won $2,000 off of a dollar. Had he played $2--the maximum bet---he'd have won $100,000!!!! I want to play that machine next time! You know he'll never get over not playing that extra buck.

The boys are back at school today (snow make up day) and both have baseball practice tonight. I really hope it's not as cold as it was at a nearly 3 hour practice Keegan had last Friday. The field's like a huge wind tunnel.

I'll be heading to WDW in exactly one month from today with the boys. My parents are taking Keegan and his friend to Clearwater this Thursday for 3 days of fun at the beach, on a fishing boat and possibly to Busch Gardens. Keegan's almost back to 100% with his activities. He says it hurts a little bit in his chest, but his doctors did say it would take a while to return to normal with everything he's gone through. He gets his blood work next week so we'll know whether the infection comes back. I guess if the numbers are high, they'll do a CT scan then and not wait 6 weeks for the next one.

I'm sorry to hear Austin and Samantha were sick. There really isn't anything worse than having a sick child.

Jen, I hope your conference goes well. We've lucked out with Brennan's 1st grade teacher this year. She's a first year teacher (but in her late 20's). She is single without children of her own and spends a great deal of time making her classroom a 6/7 year old's paradise. I think Brennan's in love with her too (she looks like a Barbie doll). I'm sure you aren't alone with your dislike of Sarah's teacher. Have you talked to other parents or the principal? Make sure you document everything if you go up the administration ladder. Sounds like the sub is a control freak on top of everything.

Derek wants a motorcycle too. He has this idea in his head that I'm going to want to sit on the back of it and travel the nation with him. My very first patient in physical therapy school was in a motorcycle accident and I've been very weary of them since. It doesn't help that Harley Davidson has a huge manufacturing plant nearby!

I'm exhausted but had a fun holiday. The house with so many people was controlled chaos but at least it was controlled. My MIL did most of the cooking..I assisted and did all the cleaning and set up. By the time the last folks left I was ready to drop. My nieces spent the night so we had a fun day today with them and Tom is off this afternoon on a business trip to AZ for a few days. I just want some peace and quiet! Luckily the kids were so tired from all the excitement they were both asleep by 9pm:cool1: I'm off to bed myself but I will chat with everyone tomorrow. Good night!

I'm off to take my mum shopping this morning (not fun stuff I'm afraid), then doing a bit of grocery shopping, as the girls are eating me out of house and home :rotfl2: They don't go back to school till a week on Thursday, so we've got a long time to get over the Easter break

Have a great day, what are you up to ?

Happy Late Easter

It has not been good here. DD started getting sick Saturday and we ended up taking her to the hospital yesterday as she was having difficulty breathing. I hate the hospital here they are so useless. We get there and they are like she just has a sore throat and that's it. What part of she can't breath don't you understand!!!. I hate this small town. I was ready to pack her in the car and drive two hours through the mountains to the next town and take her there.
So after two nights of no sleep and just lying there listening to her breath she seem be getting better. Her breathing is still noisy but not as bad and the fever has finally gone down. I did have people coming over yesterday for easter dinner but canceled all that due to DD being really sick. Okay I'm done venting now thanks for listening.

Hope everyone had a great Easter.

Only five more months until paradise.

UGH! No fun with a sick kid! I hope she is doing better!

Morning to you Mandy! Hope you buy something yummy! I know it is no Bahama Mama though!;)

Sarah's conference went well until the end. Academically she is doing really well. Mark and I saw very quickly how "old school" this guy is.. He is in his 50's and just got his teaching degree. Basically it is his way or the high way.. I knew it was bad when the vein in Mark's neck started pulsating.. By the end I was on the verge of tears and looked at them and said, "I can;t do this anymore. I'm sorry" and stood up and left. I couldn't listen to someone who has no teaching experience and is unable to bend pick on every little thing my kid does. The thing is, Mark and I are both teachers and my dad was a teacher for 33 years finishing up in 1st grade. I think we know a thing or 2 of about 1st grade.

Off to Boston tomorrow...

Morning Jen

Sorry nothing nice in my shopping trolley today, just lots of W/W soups, desserts and bread (boring :rotfl2: ). Yay, that Bahama Mama is another day closer :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that things didn't go too well with Sarah's teacher, he sounds like a bit of a dinosaur. Did you not speak to the headteacher about him ? Thank goodness Sarah is still doing well academically

I hope everything goes well in Boston, are you there just for the day ?

I've just had an email from Laurie, here's some of what she sent

So, here is the quick version - it's COLD - not flip flop weather, it might reach the mid-upper 50's today - nothing great - we are going to revamp our original plans.. I don't think we are going to see the impersonator show - the boys are moaning about it - and it's pretty expensive... Today, I think we are going to tour the hard rock theme park that will be opening next month - it looks pretty cool from the road, then they boys want to do MagicQuest today too - so, we'll do those things and do dinner at Hard Rock or something... the cold has me unmotivated!!! LOL

Send my regards to the boards - I'll check in again!!
Laurie

I hope it warms up for you Laurie, so you can get those flip flops out :thumbsup2

Hello all-

I am way too lazy to catch up on the posts this morning - I'm sorry. We didn't get in until late last night, poor Ian was sooooo tired. He had a great time, audition went well, I think (I can't go in with him). He had fun and that's what counts. We went to the Bronx Zoo and had a blast watching all the animals.

Hope all children that were feeling poorly are on the mend. Jen, I think you head to Boston today if I remember correctly. Good luck and travel safe. My apologies if I have forgotten anyone, I'm tired :(

Jen, I'm glad to hear that Sarah's doing well. Can you imagine her teacher's kids/wife (if he's got them) feels about him if he's that way to his students?? Some people are just not meant to be teachers and it sounds like he moreso went into the profession for job safety at age 50 than the for love of teaching children. Can you request the principal drop in unannounced or listen to him on the intercom? I always went to Department of Defense schools and had a couple of teachers that would throw erasers at misbehaving students and one that would swear, but the minute an administrator came in, they cleaned up their act at least temporarily. The one that would swear was audio taped by a student one day and eventually fired. I'm not sure of your local laws on recording without knowledge, but maybe you could rig Sarah's bag with a recording device just to make sure he's not doing anything worse.

Good luck with your trip to Boston. I really hope you get some answers. It's painstaking to not know what is going on when your kids are sick and doctors don't know what's causing it.

SandyM-I'm glad your trip went well. Good luck to Ian.

Have fun shopping Mandy

Veronica, I'm glad your Easter went well. Rest up!

I forgot to mention that I contacted one of the fish extender sellers to see if she'd make me a f.e. like one that she had already sold and she said yes. She said she'll have it done and personalized in a couple of days. I'll post a picture when I get it.

Good Morning fellow cruisers!!!

Jen your post makes me so sad:sad1: How awful to make first graders so miserable toward school. I really hope this guy doesn't completely make these kids hate school:mad: If I were you I would speak to the principal and voice your concerns just so A. its documented in case it gets worse and B. so you maybe have some leverage in getting the best 2nd grade teacher for next year.:) Good luck with everything in Boston:thumbsup2

Laurie so glad you made it to South Carolina, maybe it will warm up:goodvibes

Hi to everyone else. We are going to the mall today to spend some Easter gift certificates and then it's back to school/work tomorrow. John is on vacation for the rest of the week and is doing some remodeling in the kitchen:scared1:

Goodness me Michele :scared1: When I met Paul (over 20 years ago), he used to do motocross racing, so he has had a motorbike on and off for years. But he got rid of his last one 3 or 4 years ago, and we didn't think we'd be having to put up with one again - nevermind (I can always sell it and use the funds for a future cruise :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

John had a motorcycle when we first met in college too! I hated that thing!!!

Hey Sandy, glad the audition went well and that Ian enjoyed it. What was the audition for ? Fingers crossed that he gets it :thumbsup2

Hi Suzanne, what are you hoping to buy ? anything nice ?

John had a motorcycle when we first met in college too! I hated that thing!!!

Thankfully Paul likes his comfort, so I would imagine his new motorbike will be used mainly in the Summer - I don't know, they never seem to grow up :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
