2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas* (Part 2)

I'm here! I'm here!!! Just in in the middle of having to do 300 report cards! My eyes are going buggy!

Sarah has her 1st grade celebration today at a campground... Hot dogs, smores, a hike etc.. I took the day off to go. Weather doesn't look all too great but what the he,, I actually froze yesterday with weather in the 50's! That is a 50 degree temp swing for me.. ICK!

No news from Boston.. I didn't expect there to be... yet..

I did find out that Johns Hopkins has a hypotonia clinic and it is the only one in the world!!! I am really interested in this..

2 full days 4 halfs and 1 hour til summer vacation!:cool1:

WOO HOOO - almost done!!!! Report cards, fun fun fun!!!!

Yesterday it cooled down here a bit too - but, not the 50s! I did shut the air off last night though, the breeze was soooooooooooooo nice!!!

The hypotonia clinic sounds good - are you going to try to go???

Enjoy your end of school countdown! LOL

Good morning ladies-

Not much going on here. Tori is home until noon (afternoon tests). We have baseball tonight. Only one more week of that and then a short break until summer ball starts.

Mandy, yuck, I don't like the dentist either.:worried:

Laurie, hope work is quiet for you.

Jen, good luck w/ your report cards:eek: 300 now that's alot.

Michele, Hope everyone has an awesome day. I'll check in later.

Hi All!!

Betty - so, what did you find on TV last night? Anything good?? I started watching "America's got talent" - but I fell asleep!! Oh, well!!

Laurie

I tried to watch AGT, but after the first guy I turned it off and read my book instead.

My dentist appointment was OK, just a quick check and x-ray, I've got to have a tooth out next week, and some other work in a couple of weeks (oh joy !!! :()

Glad that your appointment is over and that things went okay. I decided to put off all DR appointments until after the cruise/WDW. :rolleyes1 I don't want anything to interfere with my fun

I'm counting down for you too! :cool1: Have fun at the campground with Sarah today! It's starting to cool off a bit here today as well, but not 50 degrees :scared1: Here's hoping you'll get some news from Boston soon.

Hi Veronica, it's great to hear from you. I feel like I haven't heard from you since you went away to the casino for your birthday - did you win ? did you have fun ? have you got any pics ?

What's the 'Great Wolf', I'm so pleased that you had a fun time. When does Bryan break up for the Summer ?

Take care

Hi Mandy! Sorry it took me some time to get back to you! I didn't win at the casino but we still had a nice time away alone! I just downloaded some pics yesterday I'll try to put some on photobucket. Great Wolf Lodge is a huge hotel/indoor waterpark. I'll try to post some pictures from there too. They also have lots of other activities for the kids. Bryan's last day of school is the 26th but this week they are having all the end of kindergarten celebrations. I'm glad your dentist appointment wasn't bad today - I hate the dentist! Have you gotten all your cruise and FE shopping done?

Jen - I'm so glad your ordeal with Em is over. I hope you hear something soon! Good luck on all those report cards!

Janet - Welcome to the group! I'm Veronica and I'm sailing with my DH, DS (6), DD (2) along with MIL, BIL and 2 nieces (12)

Michele- Glad Jeff is OK! Congrats on booking another trip to WDW! We have to plan a day to meet once I'm better

Laurie - Crazy day with the Mets - I'm OK with the decision just not the way it was done. Hope the guys have a great time at the ball game and you have a quiet day at work

Sandy - Sounds like Tori is having fun driving! How are things with your work - has it finally calmed down?

Betty - Hope your Dad is feeling better! Your weekend sounded fun - its always nice when the whole family can get together! Any other fun plans with Taylor this summer?

Heather - Congratulations on getting the wedding out on deck! It will be so beautiful!!

Danielle - Hope you had a great time at Star Wars weekend - can't wait to hear how it went!

Diane - So are all the casts off yet? I hope they are now that warmer weather is here!

Pam - My son Bryan will probably like Alana - he's a huge flirt and loves "older women"

Suzanne - Are the girls all done with school yet? I'm getting confused with who is out and who is not.

I am so sorry I know I missed people but I am trying to do this from memory and from about 15 pages:scared1: Teaches me not to fall behind anymore. :wave2: to anyone I missed!

My Dad is feeling better. He still has a few more test to take this week.

Taylor starts summer camp next week at her school. She loves it there. She usually goes to my sister and brother-in-law's house in MD for a week. I'm not sure that will happen this summer though because they are taking a late vacation this year. Other than that we usually do the zoo, museums and parks on the weekends.

Hi everyone.

We are back. Our flight was delayed (as were most of them last night because of bad weather in other states) and we didn't get home until about 11:00. The boys are still sleeping.

We had a really great time. Brennan was floored and couldn't have been happier with the surprise.

The parks were quite crowded compared to a lot of our other trips. The only time I've seen it more crowded was Spring Break. Even Spaceship Earth had over an hour wait yesterday. Test Track's wait was 70 minutes at 10 AM and Mission Space was 50 minutes for the green line, which has always been 5-10 minutes when we have gone on it.

The new Toy Story Mania ride at DHS was awesome. I would highly recommend getting fast passes as close to opening as possible. I got them each day around 9:30 AM. One day it had an 11:30 window, the other 1:30. The fast passes were all gone each day by noon. Yesterday about 11:30 the stand by line had a 1 hour and 50 minute wait. I saw lines for the Haunted Mansion wrapped from the left where the tomb stones are all the way to the exit area, back and forth and down past the stroller parking. The Indy Speedway had lines outside the entrance about 4 or 5 extra rows deep. We lucked out with Dream Fast passes given out at the Winnie the Pooh ride and got to go on 9 rides through them. We wouldn't have been able to do half of what we did at MK without them.

We really liked Pop Century. We were at first given a room in the 80s. I asked the check in clerk if they had a 1st floor room or if they had elevators because I was there alone with Brennan and would have to carry him up the flights of stairs if he fell asleep at night. POR didn't have elevators last year and it was really hard for me to carry him up to our room at night. He said they had elevators but he'd help me out by giving us a closer room because I had been put in the furthest possible. We got a room in the 60's--5229. It was right past the Hippy Dippy pool at the entrance where the Mogli figure is located. I thought the rooms were a tad small at the entrance, but once the door was shut it was fine. Everything was very clean and in good condition. I had a connecting room and could hear every single thing my neighbors and their kids did, but it wasn't any worse than the noise you hear on the cruise from neighbors. It never bothered us to the point we couldn't fall alseep.

Brennan really liked the Hippy Dippy pool and the little sprayers at the baby pool (which was always empty in the late evening.) We went twice and the first night the life guards had to go in and save a little girl whose sister was trying to carry her head above water to get her out. They were about 5 and 8. It was pretty scary to witness. Her mom was sitting near the bar and didn't even notice. I was really impressed with the lifeguard staff and how they had so many of them at the pool. The next night was rather hot and the pool was crowded until right as we got there a kid pooped in it and they had to clear it out. It was pretty funny to see an adult couple go run and jump in an empty pool that had not heard the announcement to clear it. They couldn't have gotten out faster when they realized why it was empty!

Magical Express was pretty quick. We arrived at MCO about 15 minutes early, went right to check in at ME and had about a 15 minute wait for a bus. They loaded us up and we were off with in a few minutes. We were the first stop and were all checked in after landing with in an hour and a half.

We went to Animal Kingdom for the 4PM parade. Brennan was dressed in his little safari uniform and got lots of attention from CM's. One of them, Josh, at the safari entrance told us we got to bypass the entire line since he was all set for work. He took us right to the loading dock and we got to sit right in the front row and he was announced as a driver in training. When we got off, Josh was there with a stuffed Giraffe for him. He was so nice. We watched the parade and went to walk on the safari again. This time a CM, Kevin spotted Brennan and asked him if he'd like his own safari ride, which Brennan said yes. Kevin then took us to the drop off area, loaded us up and we got a private safari tour with lots of behind the scene information. We were the only ones in the entire truck. It was really a great experience and it was great to hear all the inside information. When we got off, we thanked Kevin profously and he gave Brennan a tinkerbell pin (Limited Edition one from the YOAMD celebration). We ate dinner at the Tusker House and went back to Pop to swim. Dinner was very good.

Saturday and Sunday we did all Star Wars stuff at DHS. It was super crowded, as we expected. We managed to get quite a bit done with fast passes. We lucked out again in the morning when we were getting breakfast at the food court. A family was leaving and had extra dining plan credits they had to use so they were buying a few people food in our line and bought ours. We ate at H&V for lunch on Saturday. Our sever wasn't that great but the food was very good. We ate at 50's Prime Time cafe Sunday and had great service and food.

Monday we did MK and yesterday we went to Epcot for opening. We rode Soarin, fast passed it and rode Living with the Land. We rode our Soarin through our FP and went to Test Track. The FP window was already 1:30 and we had to leave to go to Pop at 2. We decided to hop to DHS so Brennan could do Star Tours one more time. We FP it, ate at Pizza Planet and then rode ST. Brennan did Jedi training and then we did Star Tours through stand by. The wait was out the door and in the roped off area back and forth through the AT AT (?) thing outside. After that we left and headed back to POP to get our luggage and on ME. We got to MCO about 3:35 and at 5:30 they announced our flight wouldn't leave at 6, but at 7:30. It was a bit bumpy coming back from bad weather in NC. At MK we had dinner at Liberty Tree. We were seated right next to a wooden divider separating 2 rooms and I noticed it was loaded with little ant/spider things running back and forth. It really grossed me out and I pointed it out to the waitress. She moved our table (which was right next to it before) a few inches and said she'd notify the manager so they could spray it at night. She said they were "sugar ants." Never heard of them. I just kept checking our food to make sure they weren't in there too! The food was great and our server was great too.

Overall we had a great trip. If it wasn't for Star Wars weekends only being Fri-Sun in June, I wouldn't ever go this time of year with the crowds being so huge. When we went the 3rd week of June last year it was 1/3 less crowded. We've been a few times in August and it's half as crowded. Luckily with going at opening and doing mostly FP rides we managed to get a lot done and had a wonderful time.

I'll have to go through and read all of the pages I've missed. I hope everyone is doing well. I have 72 work emails to respond to so I better get going.

Nice pics Pam :thumbsup2 are you able to make them bigger ?

Kerry has finished college, but she goes in with Bex while she's finishing her exams. Becky doesn't finish till 4 weeks on Friday (though her last two weeks are spent doing work experience). I'll be glad when they're both done :thumbsup2

Glad that your appointment is over and that things went okay. I decided to put off all DR appointments until after the cruise/WDW. :rolleyes1 I don't want anything to interfere with my fun

Thank you Mandy, the boys will be so surprised.:)

Hey Michele, isn't that strange that you can't see the pics, they're only small, but I can see them

I got myself so worked up this morning before going to the dentist, and I'll have to go through it all again next week (I'm such a wimp :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Well your day sounds about as much fun as my morning was ;) I hope all these places aren't too busy for you. Have a good day :)

Thanks.

We didn't wait in a lot of the lines because they were extremely long and we saw a lot of them last year. We did go to the parade both Saturday and Sunday to see them all. We also did the Hypersapce Hoopla thing they do each night to close up the Star Wars events at 7PM. It's kind of a dance off between a few sets of characters. I think someone posted it on youtube. It's cute. Anyways, a lot of the characters come out and go behind the roped off area. We happened to be standing there so Brennan got a lot of autorgraphs and pictures with them at that time. I wanted to get pictures of the new Donald, Goofy and Minnie but the line was always way too long so I only got their photo at the parade. We did go each morning early to get in line for fast passes for 2 of the celebrities....Peter Mayhew (Chewbaca) and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok). We were in line about 7:45 each day. The line for Darth Vader (David Prowse) had started at 9PM the night before and the line was hundreds deep so we avoided that one. I was just glad to be that far into the park at opening. It only took about 5 minutes to get the fast passes and we could walk right over to sign up for the Padawan Mind Challenge. It's a trivia game and they limit it to the first 15-20 kids to sign up. Right from there we went to Toy Story Mania and like I said before the fast pass lines were 15 deep plus. The one day it had a return time window of 10:30 and by the time I got up there 10 minutes later it was 11:30. I got FP yesterday at 11:30 and it was a return time of 6:45 PM. I wanted to give them away at Pop, but there were only families in line and not any couples.

Mandy, I look forward to the Dentist- Were else can I lay back with my feet up for a hour and not have the kids bothering me? Think of it that way:lmao:

Heather, So glad you got your deck wedding. Where exactly do they do it? and do you have a reception there also(just in case we all want to crash the party):scared1:

Well I am off the the laundromat to wash and put away my winter comforters
(I know yu are all jealous:laughing: )

I'll try to catch up at the end of the week
Havea good week all
Mary Ellen

Hi all

Danielle- Yes we will be at the Embassy Suites LBV. It must be nice if you have stayed several times. Did you use their transport to WDW or did you drive yourself?

Mary Ellen

Hi Mary Ellen,

We did not use their transportation. We had a rental car each time we stayed. We used to stay there frequently in the late 90's and early 2000's. We belong to DVC now so we usually stay on Disney property. We have 2 free nights from our Hilton credit card rewards and the boys asked if we can stay there again sometime. The rooms are quite spaceous, the pool is very nice, the cooked to order breakfast is great and the staff is wonderful too.

The line for Darth Vader (David Prowse) had started at 9PM the night before and the line was hundreds deep so we avoided that one.

What ? they were lining up outside the park the night before ? Wow !! that's impressive :thumbsup2

OMG Mary Ellen, I would rather be stuck in a room full of screaming kids for an hour than visit the dentist :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I hope you have a good week too :thumbsup2

I'm not exactly sure where on Deck 7 it will take place I believe they have a hidden area which is where it will be. We aren't really having much of a reception other then cake and champagne because the wedding will be right before dinner so if you are at the late dining if you see someone walk in Monday Nite in a wedding gown well I guess you'll be able to figure out who it will be lol :)

I know there is a "secret" sun deck area on deck 7 aft that not a lot of people know about or use.

hmm a secret sun deck sounds nice :) I just keep getting more excited I can't wait to go on vacation and to marry the love of my life.

What ? they were lining up outside the park the night before ? Wow !! that's impressive :thumbsup2

I guess they were lined up outside the turn stiles where they had signs posted for each of the 3 celebrity lines. I heard a guy next to me say he was waiting since 9PM the night before and he was about the 40th in line! As the lines got longer, they let us through to stand on taped colored lines towards the fast pass machines at the Indiana Jones attraction. I guess David Prowse does not come to many of the Star Wars weekends and was the hot celebrity to get. The first day we got Warwick Davis, who was the host and has been there the last 3 years we've gone. I was only there an hour early and was about the 15th in line. By the time the parked opened, there was only about 20 but a lot of people from the David Prowse line then went to Warwick's. They did so many fast passes, then some stand by autographs. The next day we were about the 40th in line for Peter Mahew. I found Warwick to be very kind and personable. Peter was a bit of a stiff. When I watched him do the autograph behind me, he was rolling his eyes and told them he'd only do one per person. Warwick was signing 5 or 6 items a person. We had not planned on getting autographs so I just had them sign the picture they gave out and Brennan had them sign the DHS Star Wars brochure.

Just FYI for everyone, Ding (from Southwest Airlines) is supposedly going to be posting flight deals all day. Some just ended and they are supposed to have more.
