2007 VB Chair/Umbrella Swap - Anyone want to start one up?

There's an old beach chair/umbrella swap from 2006 that's become active again, but has anyone notice the first posts were from 2006? I don't think that swap ever happened! We need to start a new 2007 chair/umbrella swap. The Christmas tree swap seems to be so successful, maybe someone who has done a swap before can give us some tips on how to organize a chair/umbrella swap.

I will be there on 4/16 - 4/20. Anyone going before that who wants to start this up? I've never participated in any of the swaps here before, so could someone please give us some tips? I realize that someone has to actually buy the chairs and umbrella and than everyone leaves it for the next family signed up, but does everyone chip in some money? What does the family who has the items do when they check out, just leave the chairs/umbrella at the front desk with a note to hold them for the "Next Family, Date of Check in"?

Last year we didn't use the beach much during our stay, only went to the pool. It bugs me that you need to rent beachchairs at VB. I feel the resort should be a free perk for DVC members.
 
I am a newbie but I would be interested in doing this. I will be in VB May 13-16th. Let me know if it can be worked out. I will be willing to chip in.

I'll be there April 16 - 20. Unless someone is planning to go before then and wants to be the first to start the swap, I guess I'll start it. For those who have done swaps before, how does it start? Do I compile a list of names and dates? Does everyone kick in a few bucks? Any tips/ideas/suggestions?
 

I'm going the 1st thru 3rd in October. If it is still going I'd love to participate.

I would suggest (These are only ideas, I don't want to come off as telling you what to do) start and update a list on your first post.

Umbrella and Chairs # 2 (if needed)

Now, barbnbrian, you provide the Umbrella & Chairs. When you leave, you have them zipped tied together with a tag that says who gets it next, and check it with bell services. Leave a supply of zip ties, labels and markers in a ziplock bag also zip tied to the umbrellas/chairs.

The next person, would leave the rezipped items addressed to the next guest on the list and so on.

Each person should sent $5.00 or so to the OP to cover the cost of the Umbrella & Chairs, or each could leave $5.00, so the 'last' guest can ship them home to the OP. IMO, just mailing the OP $5.00 from each of us would be better. Now, the amount sent would be adjusted by actual costs and the number of guests. I predict we could get one Umbrella chair set 'fully booked' for the spring-fall months without problems.

I am willing to help the OP in anyway as well.

We are going Feb 26th to March 2. thinking i might need to buy a cheap umbrella since I don't want to lug it on the plane.
