2007 Transatlantic and First Med cruises thread

The last time I looked, the Wonder 10th anniversary thread was not on that sticky, I do not know how they get there, but that is where I started when we first scheduled that cruise.

That would make it difficult then:rotfl2: I honestly never noticed that sticky until about a week ago:rolleyes1

Happy Olympics Day one everyone:

Well, it was an absolutely stunning opening to the Olympics. For 10 years I worked on live theater stages making shows fun and now I design one person presentations and it takes everything I have to make them great. To see what their creative team did was mind blowing. I'm sure that every Broadway, show producer, Cirque designers and all the other major large event coordinators were dropping their jaws and taking notes last night. It really takes the old phrase, "Come on guys, lets put on a show!" My first day of film school they defined cinema as the art of combining science and theater and that was the epitome of a craft that I can barely imagine watching let alone creating such a vision. Walt would have been proud of the Chinese last night. :wizard:

Can you tell I love the Olympics? I thought I would be a gymnast in the Olympics when I was little and was lucky enough to meet Cathy Rigby (for you youngins she was the first American woman to ever win a medal in the Olympics in Gymnastics) When I realized I wasn't going to hit that goal, I decided I would be a commentator for sports. At that time my parents told me that women weren't commentators for sports.... stupid me I believed them! :headache: But I think I've told you that little mishap before. Happy Olympics day one everyone.

Now that everyone is back from cruising...

Marathoners -- How is Friday night for everyone 8/29 for and early dinner?

Has anyone heard from Linda (Seaulater)? Is she coming out?

Ken, when are you guys coming down?

Now that everyone is back from cruising...

Ken, when are you guys coming down?

Hi Kelly

We won't be down until sometime on Saturday. We are just staying the one night at the DL Hotel.

Ken

We will be flying in on Friday, and will have to hit the expo. We are supposed to arrive at Orange Co airport at 12:22, so we should have time to hit the expo before dinner, assuming our flight is not delayed. I think we were talking on the cruise about meeting at Uma (if that is right) sometime Sat. evening for dinner and drinks.

Linda has been active on the 5 night cruise thread, but I do not know if she is coming out, in fact, I think she would have said something, because if she were, that would put her in the same situation as Alex and Carolyn and us, having to fly out to Orlando on the red eye the evening after the race!

That works good for us. Put is down for 3 people (myself, Curt, and Deborah)

Sounds like Saturday is better, but I don't know if Anna can make Saturday. Will check with her. Not sure what Uma is? Is it in DTD?

I may have the name wrong, it is that open air bar in the middle of DTD. We hung out at it a bit last year also. We were meeting Ken and Shari and Carolyn and Alex I think, don't know if others were included in those plans - but because it is out in the open, we figured anyone we knew who passed by could join us.

We could get together for something light on Friday night if you wanted to, we have no park passes, or transportation, so it would need to be somewhere at DTD, hotels, or within walking distance. We do not want to eat too much before the race. That is of course, if our flight does not get delayed, and we still have time to catch the Expo!

Everybody is getting ready for the big dinner in a few weeks. Wish we could be there. Erik - thanks for taking care of the dining rotation. I do LOVE Parrot and not as crazy about Animator's - although I love the show the first night. I am just looking forward to GETTING AWAY!!!! I also miss the Magic back in Florida. I am waiting for her to come home.

Hope everyone is doing well. Kelly, let me know how Zoe does on her first day of school. Are you excited? It is hot in Florida and lots of rain. Today we went to the grocery store to prepare for that hurricane. Hopefully we will not get it. I don't mind as much but my dad is visiting and he gets so worried - he is like a kid and that stresses me out. I will survive. Take care everyone and have a great week!

Wow, has been an Olympics to remember or what? I just love every minute of it.

We sadly sent the Magic back to Florida yesterday.

Yes, we are excited about kinder starting - 3 more weeks.

Checking in ... We have been watching lots of Olympics here as well. They have been incredible, but we're so sleep deprived! It's hard enough to stay awake until midnight or beyond, but then we are so keyed up after cheering for Michael Phelps, we can't sleep:banana: . Thank goodness swimming is done so we can go back to watching Olympics on Tivo the next daypopcorn:: .

DD5 started K today. She was both excited and nervous, but had a great day! Tonight is a beach party for DD12 and DD14's swim team and of course DH is out of town:scared: . DD5 and I will make an appearance and then head home for bath, stories and bed. One of the coaches will bring the older two home later. DD5 is not going to like leaving the beach, but she is already pretty wiped out from school today.

Wish we were cruising again, but at least we will see some of our cruise friends Labor Day weekend for the DL 5k and kids dash.:thumbsup2

Anna

Looking forward to seeing all of you who will be at DL during the 1/2 marathon weekend!

OK, I finally figured out an idea for next weekend. It looks like most of the locals can only make Friday night and since most don't want heavy meals and many of us are on a tight budget this year... Let's get over to pick up our packets on mid to late Friday afternoon and then go to the new "Garden Walk." We can walk around and check out the new place. It's not fully open yet, but is supposed to be beautiful. It just opened and has several little places to pick up food, sandwiches, salads light stuff or even Cheesecake factory has food for pick (big salads.) Those of us who live here could even bring a picnic. Then there are plenty of common areas that are supposed to be really pretty to sit and eat.

Scott and Lynn, we'll pick you up and drive over to it.

Scott and Lynn, Then we can take you to the grocery store as well.

Anna, Susie and Curt are all driving up from SD.

Then on Saturday you guys have plans for the Uva bar, I don't think the kids can go there, so if I can sneak out I'll come over and see the ladies (Shari and Carolyn are coming... oh yea, and Ken and Alex)

Sounds good Kelly. I think there were kids at the Uva bar last year, it is outside, and they could always just sit on the other side of the fence! We will probably see you at the Expo. I am not sure we will need the grocery store, we are bringing some food and Shari is picking up bananas and gatorade for us.

Sounds like a plan Kelly. DD5 and I are looking forward to seeing everyone.

DD5 loves K! She is a sponge. It amazes me the stuff she talks about doing each day. DD14 is at Freshman orientation today. School starts monday. She is nervous and excited at the same time. DD12 is happy to be the "older kids" at middle school (8th grade) when school starts for her monday.

Anna

Hey Lynn we could save Shari the grocery run for us.

OK,you two are cracking me up talking to each other here!

Susie, how does that work for you?
