2007 Summer sailing? to Med??

Mediterranean would be nice, but my entire family is planning a 7-Day Eastern to celebrate my parents 50th wedding aniversary. If they move the Magic to Europe for the summer '07, that would put a snag in our plans :sad1:

That happened to us this summer and we had to settle for a 4 day, but it was great.

We will do the Mediterreanean if it's offered in 2007.

And NowaSki, your sig has one of my favorite pictures on the board.

It makes me smile every time I see it. So cute. :goodvibes

If a new ship was to be built in Italy, it would make sense to do a Med. cruise, but I doubt it would be ready by 2007. I also think I remember the survey including other places like Alaska & Hawaii. My guess is it would be a lot easier for them to bring the ship to Alaska by summer 2007.

That would certainly be a bonus for us living in England - wonder which home port they would use - could be interesting. Be nice if we could save the cost of the air fare for a change.

WE ARE BOOKING IN NO MATTER WHAT THE ITINERARY FOR 2007. THIS SUMMER ON THE WEST COAST CRUISE THE STAFF DID HINT THE SUMMER OF 2007 WOULD BE A MEDITERREAN CRUISE OUT OF BARCELONA BUT THE PLANS WERE NOT CONFIRMED ONLY HUGE SPECULATIONS. I HEARD THAT THE SPECIALTY CRUISES WOULD NOT BE ANNOUNCED UNTIL NEXT APRIL 2006. I THINK WHEN THEY ANNOUNCE THE 2007 RATES AND DATES THERE WILL JUST NOT BE ANY SCHEDULES FOR THE DATES THE BOAT WILL BE "AWAY". I INTEND TO BOOK THE DAY THE SCHEDULES DO COME OUT CAUSE IT WILL TAKE ME A YEAR TO PAY FOR IT :earboy2:
I CURRENTLY HAVE FRIENDS ON THE REPO CRUISE AND I TOLD THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY COULD.
WE ARE BOOKED FOR 12/2006 ON THE MAGIC TWO STOPS IN CASTAWAY CAY :earsgirl:
IF ANYONE HEARS ANYTHING LET US ALL KNOW.

We (along with two other families) would love to do this and have been hoping for it. I priced airfare from NY to Barcelona, Spain and to Rome, Italy - just playing around for July 06 - ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR PORTS? - the airfare is averaging $2,500 per person - I know to Italy (family goes all the time - last time two years ago) it has been averaging $1,500 per person for the summer - who knows now with price for fuel. This might make it impossible for us. I keep reading that Alaska is out of the question also - any thoughts on Hawaii?

I hope we don't have to wait til spring of 06 - but Danielle on board told us that could be a possiblility if there are new itineraries.

I wonder if DCL will weigh the rising cost of fuel which translates into higher airfares before deciding upon the Med itinerary. If airfare will cost $2500/person on top of what will probably be a 10-12 night cruise ($8000-10000? for a family of 4) they will never fill the boat. Also remember the US dollar is very weak in Europe so the ports will be very expensive.

I had hoped airfare would be no more than $1000/person. Maybe Disney will have special arrangements for reduced cost airfare.

My family is really looking forward to this trip so I hope the costs don't prove to be too high. We would travel to Barcelona(?) a week before the cruise to adjust to the time change and sightsee which will increase our expense.

I was wondering about airfare too. From the sounds of it, we won't be able to do it. But oh my! It would be something. It is even our 25th wedding anniversary in June 2007!

Venice is another popular port for cruise ships to leave from. We were in Venice in June and there were several in there at that time.

They use it a lot because I believe the Orient Express still runs there some times. Mallorca is also another port many of the med cruises leave from.

Hope they do one that leaves from Venice then we can spend a few more days there as well.

Hope it does the Greek Islands as that would be fine.

Honu,

Thanks. I am guess we would end up on a 4-day. My DB has done the 3-day twice and wants to do a 7-day. My parents want to include a few days in WDW with the aniversary cruise, so a 4-day would be much cheaper w/ the stay in WDW.

Does anyone know how DCL did $$-wise with the Magic in California, compared to if they stayed in FL, and did their normal schedule? Were all the cruises full? I figure if they didn't make a significant profit they may not want to move the ship again.

We will all have to wait and see.

Sounds like the ship will be full, DCL!!....thx KJET for checking this out!!

THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL - I am taking my first Disney Cruise in 2 weeks and hope it will be beginning of a whole new vacation outlet for me. I would hope I could use my DVC points. I also wanted to check into the Alaskan Cruises. Med sounds great - count me in!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I would love to do the Med as well. Had one booked in 2000 aboard Princess Cruise Lines but my older sis died unexpectedly and we had to cancel.

I want in!!!!!
I'm anxious to hear if they are really going to do it :Pinkbounc

One thing no one has mentioned is that if the Magic was to do a Med cruise, it would have to get there somehow. How cool would a Transatlantic be?!?!?! :cool1:

A Med Disney cruise. That will be awesome. I want to do a Med cruise and a Disney cruise so to me that would be a 2 for 1 cruise

...... or how least I would portray it to my husband when he sees the cost :rotfl:

My extended family and I are in, whenever DCL finallly does a European cruise! I have orders to book at least 4 staterooms when the announcement is made. It will really be a MAGICal way to experience such a beautiful and interesting part of the world! :flower:
