2007 packages?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to all this, so please have patience with me. I will be going to WDW January 2nd of 2007 with my DH, DS's 18, 22, 25. This will be our first trip. (Been to DL almost every year.) We booked two rooms at POP thru AAA. Disney advised our AAA TA to just book our rooms now and wait for the packages to come out end of July to purchase tickets and airfair (which will be alot from California.) What exactly am I hoping for in the packages?

I wanted to thank everyone on this board. I have learned a lot and it helped in the decision making process.

WooHoo! Another first timer to Disney World! My first suggestion would be to go to www.mousesavers.com and register for the newsletters to be sent to you as well as check out the great information they have on their site. Also go to Deb Will's site www.allearsnet.com She has everything and anything you need to know. Lots of reading but you'll enjoy it. Yes, you can go ahead and book just rooms as of now through AAA and then wait for discounts to come out. It really depends on when you're looking to travel. Like this summer August 13th through Sept. 30th which had to be booked by the 25th Disney is having a great discount...$435 per adult for 5 nights/6 days at a Disney resort, park hopper passes and includes free dining which includes 1 snack, 1 counter service and 1 table top meal each day of your stay. Be sure to look into the different seasonal rates. There are Annual Passholder rates.

Oh, also get onto the different airlines for emails to be sent to alert you for discounted tickets. I'm not familiar with which one's fly from your area, but SW and JetBlue are just a couple that send out email alerts when they're having sales.

Strange advice you got there. Generally, reserving a room at a rate you don't plan to pay doesn't do anything other than distort the numbers Disney uses to determine how generous to be when setting prices. Discounted rates are capacity limited, so even if you "already have a room" you'll be competing just-the-same with those who don't for the limited discounted inventory.
