2007 Package Rates

My DW called yesterday and spent a while on the phone with a very helpful castmember. We are planning a trip for February 2007 and have been wanting to make our reservations for a month or so now but have been told by CM's that the package rates will be out in July. Anyhow, the CM yesterday said she had heard a rumor that Disney may not do packages next year! She said she had been a CM for over eight years and that they always have the rates by now. Anyone else heard anything? We went ahead and made room only reservations for now.

The rumors are starting to fly fast and furious.

The packages for 06 were released on June 30th 2005. So far this year, nothing yet for 2007. The rumor is August, something to do with new reservation systems and who knows what else.

If Disney were to do away with packages, then the hugely popular Dining Plan as it is sold now would not be available. I cannot see them doing away with packages since the packages are also a huge part of the Disney marketing.

I have a room only ressie for Jan 07, unless some great deal comes along, I will most likely be purchasing my tickets separately as we are not interested in the Dining plan. Personally I am waiting for them to release the AAA rates.

Something else I heard for 2007, is that Magical Express will no longer be free, but at this point no one knows what the cost will be.

I was told I believe last week by Disney Travel that they would be out mid-end september. They claim they are listening to guests as to what they want and do not want to see brought back. they claim to be trying to make it perfect. She had no info if prices would increase and said nothing about ME as I asked about it and she said it would still be there. I to am waiting to finish our honeymoon package.

I just read last week that Disney just extended a contract with MCO to keep Magical Express through 2010 or 2011. I just can't remember where I read it.

I tried to book a "honeymoon" package and they told me they got rid of them. Said it was more of a "do it yourself" type of system now, (as in a la carte). I was still able to do the room/tix/dinning package- we are going this year in Oct. But any other extras I had to investigate and book separate, (like specialty cruises, golf, spas, carriage rides, photography, etc.) Don't know if this means anything. I have no idea what the "old" honeymoon pckg looked like.
