Dan - I sent you a pm with my e-mail.

I don't know about anyone else but the next two weeks are going to be hard waiting for call in day. I always get butterflies in my stomach that morning fearing we won't get through. We've managed it so far and hopefully everyone here who wants to will get through that morning as well.

I am worried too, but the waitlist has been good to me in the past.

Nancy: Happy Birthday and it was nice chatting with you about Maine.

We made it home fine on Sunday night. The cruise was great. I got bad news on Saturday, a friend and coworker died Friday night from a massive heart attack. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Three series of questions because I'm nosy but also because DVC and DCL have been known to read these boards: :)

1) For you first time cruisers - what did you think? Did you like cruising and will you cruise again?

2) For you first time DVC Member Cruisers - what did you think? What did you think of the special entertainment and gifts?

3) For everyone who has sailed before- what did you think? Where does this cruise rank based on others you have taken? What did you like most? What would you have liked to seen differently?

I think this cruise is tied for #1 with 2005. with 2003 next and last place is 2006.

Also my mom broke one of her pin frames - any idea who I could contact to see where she could get another?

2) For you first time DVC Member Cruisers - what did you think? What did you think of the special entertainment and gifts? I loved the entertainment- Richard Sherman & The three ladies. Didin't gp to the talks, really didin't know who they were. The gifts were nice, but less gifts and more quality would e nice.
3) For everyone who has sailed before- what did you think? Where does this cruise rank based on others you have taken? What did you like most? What would you have liked to seen differently would do it again, but for the price a seven day is more for us. Everything just seemed so rushed. I also think the quality of the food has gone down. Even in Palo it didn't taste as great as it used to be. Don't get me wrong we love DCL over the others we have been on. It just didn't live up to all the hype.?

I have only one comment on the gifts and especially the picture frames -------------------

The Disney Store Outlet in Orlando and Sawgrass Mills in Ft. Lauderdale and as I understand it, the picture frames are on clearance for

$3.99 - and that was before the cruise also

I did get a Stitch to go with the others.

I am very disappointed in that -

the one over by Lake Bryan off I-4 right before you get to DTD exit - if they are both outlets, they both should have the same pins.

I saw them before the cruise and after the cruise in both stores.

Isn't that just awful:sad2: :sad2:

To me for overall experience 2005 was #1, 2007 was #2, 2003 was #3 and 2006 was #4.

As for as guests/entertainment 2007 was #1, 2005 was #2, 2006 was #3 and 2003 was #4.

I was blown away by all the guests on this years cruise. Even though I didn't know many of the Legends before the cruise reading their bios got me excited and I made it to one of each of their shows. That has never happened on past cruises as there were some I wanted to see and some I didn't.

The gifts while nice play a small part of the cruise to me. In fact I just shipped off a box with some of the gifts to a friend who is DVC. We don't need two of everything. :) I've done that every year as a way of paying forward those who have been generous with us over the years.

PDFG and all who need it.

We liked the cruise a lot.

I do think the 4 day seemed rushed. (of course could just be me as I don't want to miss anything).

We want to cruise on the DVC memeber cruise again, but want to also experience other vacations, so it will be hard with limited vacation and funds.

When we win the lottery and are retired, we will be on everyone and do the back to back like Kay and Linda

ha ha - I still have the suitcases in the living room and packing them again to leave on 11/14 for the Wonder again.

This time with my 4 YO g/daughter. It is her b/day gift from me.

I just added DH's youngest g/daughter (she is 22) to go with us so she will be a great help w/Kaitlyn. She is also her daycare teacher at the Church so Kaitlyn sees her every day and knows her well.

I also got upgraded to a Cat 9 this week and was very happy about that.

The B2B for next year after Member cruise is really a great price now. You should look into it.

3) For everyone who has sailed before- what did you think? Where does this cruise rank based on others you have taken? What did you like most? What would you have liked to seen differently?

Here is my answer (as confusing as it may be!)

Main Stage Entertainment (Walt Disney Theater)
2007 #1
2006 #2
2005 #3

Gifts in stateroom
2005 #1
2006 #2
2007 #3 (as Kay stated before, there is nothing more disappointing than walking in the Disney Outlets and to see your "special gifts for this cruise" are on clearance in the same frame with the same pins for $3.99.

Also, with regards to gifts. 2005 was awesome in that when you went to dinner each night, there was something special. Remember the crowns and tiaras and special stuff? I told Tony and Adrienne that they were NOT to miss dinner and go to Palo's because they would miss out on something for their first cruise in 2007.....NOT!

Also, what does a print of Steamboat Mickey have to do with the member cruise. I WANT MY LITHO FROM DUCKY WILLIAMS. Not only was I disappointed that Ducky was not on the cruise, we didn't even get a gift from him from DVC. What was that all about?

Food
#1 2005
#2 2006
#3 2007

Although the food was great, what about using some of the specialty menus that they have used on the 10 day Wonder and 11 day Wonder cruises last September. If it is a "special" cruise, then give us lobster one night!

Other Entertainment i.e. legends, speaker series
Okay, there are variables here, but
#1 2007 (Only because I loved the Disney Legends, however it only gets a grade of an A and not an A+ because Ducky wasn't on the cruise)
#2 2005 Because Ducky was on the cruise, but would have been #1 if not for the Disney Legends. I also LOVED Art Linkletter!
#3 2006 Because Ducky had to back out of the cruise at the last minute but I LOVED Roy Disney!

For both 2005 and 2006 I enjoyed the other speakers they brought on (ambassador, olympic athletes, etc.) so that is a real hard one!

Legends Ball

Okay, so they didn't have one in 2006 and 2005, but 2007 was a total waste of time. It was unorganized, we waited in atrium for 30 minutes and no one knew what was going on (even DVC). Even Jim Lewis looked like "what the heck is going on here!"

Itinerary
#1 2007 and 2006 because I love 2 stops at Castaway Cay
#3 2005 because we only came once to Castaway Cay

Communication from DVC BEFORE the cruise i.e. newsletters
#1 2005
#2 2006
#3 2007 They sent less newsletter updates this time and communicated less than before.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 2008

You didn't ask, but I'll share:

1. Ducky must be on the cruise! We want a special litho just for the cruise!
2. Give more thought to the gifts. Give us something we can't get unless we are on the cruise.
3. Start the member presentation in the Walt Disney Theater early in the morning if you have to. I want to be at Castaway Cay earlier in the morning.
4. Have members who are going on the cruise enter a contest to share their best DVC vacation experience. Those chosen will share in some way their experience during the member presentation and share family photos (i.e. my trip to Hong Kong Disneyland that our family received by adding points from the 2005 cruise.) Frankly, I have heard the vacation advisors stories too many times. Besides, when they take their whole family on the cruise in the Med and they are working on the ship, do you really think they are using DVC points for their cruise. IMHO, their family is probably going for ridiculously low prices that we will never get to experience! Nothing touches my heart more than having a family share how their DVC membership has changed their families lives for the better with wonderful vacation memories! (The two adults in the families that are selected could have dinner in Palo's with either the captain or the special guests on the cruise!
5. If DVC wanted to really have it be the most awesome experience in the whole world, have a small group of members participate on a task group prior to the cruise so they can add the members point of view to things they are planning on (i.e. guests, gifts). It's always great for someone else to plan, but they are not the guests and sometimes it better to think "outside the box".
6. WE WANT AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS with the performers! Come on, we had the Belles of Broadway, but DVC didn't make time to have them autograph stuff for us? ALSO, DVC needs to let us know the entertainment beforehand. There is nothing more frustrating than getting on the ship and finding out that you had something great at home that could have been autographed had you known the person was on board.
7. BETTER COMMUNICATION. Come on now......with the internet, how long really would it take to give us once a month short newsletter updates with what's going on with the member cruise. The newsletters this year were less than the year before and had less information.

Okay, I'll quit now before I think of something else!

Some great points Linda. The only thing I could answer of your questions is this:
Also, what does a print of Steamboat Mickey have to do with the member cruise.

The Steamboat Willie Mickey is what is on the bow of the Wonder. That's the tie-in since we were on the Wonder.

I thought if I read backwards, I would be able to figure out the details - but I'll just ask. I can deduce "back to back" - but what else? What is the "good deal" referred to?

We got home yesterday around 4pm. We had a great time meeting everyone. We loved the gifts exchange and want to thank everyone for the cute gifts. We aren't doing the member cruise in 08. Instead we are spending the following week at WDW with a lot of our family (parents, siblings, cousins). I will be following the thread though.

geez, Annett - we'll miss you - I enjoyed so much talking to you and your sister so many times. Just bring all those people w/'ya :thumbsup2

I know, you'll have a great tme at WDW also.

Morning all,

It's nice to know I am not the only one that wasn't thrilled. I just think if they charge more for this cruise it should be special. Different menu's would be nice. Since most of us are repeat cruisers the same thing gets old.

Did any one get the wine glasses from Palo? I didn't think that was fair to give them to the ones that had dinner in Palos? We got two they are very nice but every one should have gotten them.

I can't wait to see everyones pictures!!!
