2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

We are hoping to leave Sunday around 9 also.

Can't believe in 4 days!!!!!!

Question for those who have done mumeber cruises before- Do you tip extra?

HI Joan
As mary said all tips are taken care of, but if you wish tou can give extra.
In 2005 our wait staff did a great job so our table gave extra.
Well back to the yard work.
How about those PATS

We will be staying at OKW -

We changed from staying at the Radissosn at the Port so that we could meet up with some friends on Saturday in the Disney area.

If they are going to pick you up at Noon you will probably get to the Port around 1:30 or so w/the other pickups. Did they tell you when you would get there or what pick up stop you were?

We are leaving probably by 9:15 am for the Port and get there around 10'ish

Thats great Kay we arrive Friday afternoon. Hope to see you guys then.

Can anyone gove a ballpark about what kinds of tips we might gove above and beyond what they will already receive.

We normall leave a few buckjs each day in a motel room and tip 5 bucks a bag for bellhops, etc. Since this is our first cruise, we have no idea who we will need to tip and what would be a good tip above and beyond what they will receive anyway. Thanks....

All the tips are included in the amount of vacation points and/or cash you used when you booked the trip. So, the only thing you would need to tip for is room service (which is now added on to the slip which you now sign when you get your food, even though room service does not cost) and any other areas where you would want to tip. For example: when our daughter was younger, she would spend time in the Oceaneer Lab and after a week of the great care the CM's gave her, we would give the CM's in there $40 just because they were so great. In the kid's clubs, they pool all the money they receive and have CM parties together with the tips they receive, or they must decide together how to spend it, cuz it goes to all of them.

Alot of times in the dining room our server and asst. server have gone above and beyond. Usually we tip and extra $10-$20 each depending on the length of the cruise. We do the same for our stateroom host/hostess depending on the service we receive.

Sometimes, we haven't left extra $$ and other times we have. It is really up to each guest as to what extra money they tip. I have never tipped any particular CM for bar service, because I don't spend time in the lounges or order from the bar up on deck, but I know alot of people who have had the same CM serving them drinks the whole cruise will leave them an extra tip at the end of the cruise.

Basically, it really is up to you. Just remember, the initial amounts have already been included in the cost of this cruise when you booked your reservation!

Will they give up tio envelopes or do we need to bring cash? I would hate not to be ready if our servers werereally great!!

You will still get tip envelopes but you will also get tip slips with the tips included on them. As Linda stated if you want to add more you can. We usually do the extra in cash but I think you can also go to guest services and have the extra put on your tab and get a second set of tip slips.

Another thing to keep in mind about tipping. Anytime you order drinks with dinner (smoothies or alcoholic) there will be a gratuity of 15% already added to your slip. Whether or not you add more is up to you. We usually don't except for on Castaway Cay. They really hustle up and down the sand to get drinks for people and I feel that is worth a little extra.

Thanks Mary, just what I needed to know.

On the member cruises I always felt the tips being included was an "onboard" credit. They get it out of us other ways, tho. :lmao:

My DH always gave extra to our room steward, more so than the dining room servers.

Wow!! Those buttons look fabulous!! Thanks for doing those.

Beth - Don't feel bad about the cold. I am fighting one too, better now than on the cruise. In fact I haven't had the energy to pack yet :faint: I can hardly believe it.

Oh and another question, I filled out that "my online check-in" thing on the DCL site, is there anything that I need to print out?

you need to read the contract and then scroll down to the bottom and hit the continue button and then print out the form that you sign and take it for when you check in

Cobbler: if for some reason you can't see the button that says "disney cruise line contract - then the on-line check in is not complete.

There has to be a little check mark next to the check in portion, where it says "view/edit form".

Hi all,

Had to make my check up trip to the dentist today. As the little hygenist was killing me all I was thinking was this time next week I will have a Konk Kooler in my hand........

DH finally started packing...................

my day was a blur - went to the hospital and left w/in an hour - went to a meeting at the hospital right after and stayed only 15 minutes and then left - went to cafeteria to eat and didn't eat - went home and thought my puppy got out of the yard and ran all over the n/hood looking for her - guess what - she was in the house the whole time. UGH UGH !!!

all of this was 'caused by the fact that my DB was in surgery and I couldn't be there with him. He had neck surgery due to 4 bulging disc in his neck. He is in S.C. and had he not come thru it, I was going to have to cancel the trip and fly up right away. My nerves got the best of me. He would definitely come before the cruise.

He is fine now and in his room. My SIL and twin sisters are w/him. I have spoken w/them all day. I feel better now.

My trip is on - are we ready yet????????

COME ON DOWN, LINDA - let's go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDITED to add: And I locked myself out of the house but remembered the back door was open and I had just had the locks changed, so no one has the keys to the house or car. I'll have to take care of that right away !!!

OT - did anyone see Price is Right Today with Drew Carey - It just doesn't work for me. Especially since I have been to the Price is Right four times and saw it in person from the front row. Our Bob Barker sure will be missed.

Kay,

Glad to hear your brother is ok. We need to get this moving before someone else gets sick!! How is little Abbey?

gosh, I'll second that.

The Magic got in last week from a 7 day. So many things happened on their cruise. A little boy broke his femur, someone had a heart attack, someone started choaking in the dining room and a seizure and lordy knows what I missed reading.

Let's get this trip started.

Abby is good right now. DD just returned from a cruise herself and my DS kept Abby, since I didn't think I could keep her for that many days by myself.

I'll feel better about keeping her alone for that long when the hospital puts in my Guardian beeper thingy (can't think of the correct name). They are worried about me living alone and wants me to have a back up in case something happens at home.

Like = I've fallen and I can't get up = type thingy. :rotfl2:

The hospital is going to have it installed at the house when I get back. I didn't think these good things would happen to me when I started working there. There must have been a lot of prayers around me.

DD is better this week also from her surgery last week.

We just keep going like the little energizer bunny :yay:

Linda - have you got that mini navigator done yet??? what's taking 'ya so long finishing it????????? :happytv:  :rolleyes1

Good evening everyone!! We are less than 48 hours from the World of the Mouse!! Yippee!! Just got home from work. Really need to get packing, but must watch the Hills first.

For all those traveling soon, have a safe journey
