2007-2008 cheer parent thread

We are not doing Jamfest in Tampa we are doing Jamfest this weekend in Orlando.

Nice to see Gemz and Tumblebeez had such successful weekends. I was able to watch Tumblebeez in Georgia at Cheersport and all I can say is Wow.......such energy and excitment from the team and fans!!!

Stephanie did a standing tuck last night. Said it was tender but I am happy she did it. PT again tonight and practice tomorrow. She does not compete until April 5 &6 in Springfield MA (WSF). Then a Jamfest the following weekend (1 day) and then off to Worlds!! They are working her into the opening section now which she is happy with. As for the running tumbling section that is on hold right now. One day at a time.

Keep the updates coming and good luck.

Thanks. I am happy she got over her fear of hurting her ankle. Tomorrow will be a better day..............

Stephanie sends her Thanks too!!!!

So buzzriders and I have discovered we ar eneighbors of a sort -- she's one town over from me.

The bad news is that our schools frequently compete against each other. (we beat them in the basketball finals, and their dance team beat my younger daughter's dance team in the hip hop category in our local competition this year--which made it awkward when both teams found themselves on the same plane flying down to Florida two weeks ago -- to different competitions, though).

The good news is that my daughter's team is "small varsity" and hers is "large varsity" so we don't compete against each other.

buzzrider, I'lll wave to the girls in maroon. Our team is in red, white and gold. Good luck to you and your team.

Nice pics goofy, but you may want to tell the one coach she needs a longer shirt..........:rotfl: Not sure she wanted that showing for the world to see.:woohoo:

Oh My :scared1:

Never even looked at the coaches.:lmao:

Now that we are back home, I resized the picture and cropped out the plumber's crack ;)

She had a good practice again last night. She was stunting and HAPPY. They are working her back into the opening section of the routine this week. Not sure about the tumbling section but while the cross tumbling is going on (that is where she throws her double full) there are a few stunts going up in the back so maybe she can fly in that if she can't get back to full tumbling for April 5!!!

She is happy to be back even if only partly there!

Good luck to those that have competitions this weekend!!!

Way to go Stephanie!

Best wishes for a fast, continued and complete healing.

Good luck at the upcoming competitions and WORLDS!

Thanks! We are still down here, but had a great weekend. A bit cold, but we were happy with our results! Our gym did great. UCA awarded both special needs teams National Championships as one was an assisted team and one was an unassisted team, so too difficult to score against each other.

Congrats Polkadotminnie! It looks like Tumblebeez had a great weekend too.

Thanks! We got back last night. It was hard leaving that 75 degree weather. Congrats to you too. It was a fun weekend.

Thanks for the kind words! I am so glad your DD got over that hurdle of doing that tuck again. Keep us posted!

This time tomorrow I will be at the Carribean Beach Resort. :cheer2:

I looked at the line up for the weekend competition It's a lot smaller than last year's comeptition. We have only 5 teams in our division, last year there were 10.

Wish us luck.

I wish I could see you. We are arriving Sunday night for DH's conference. I just left there Tuesday and can't wait to go back!:thumbsup2 Go Gemz!

I am so jealous you are all competing at Disney!!!! It has been a lull around here.........not competing since Cheersport!!

Stephanie's routine continues to add more and more difficulty and she is hanging tough. They compete again in 2 weeks and with yet another routine!! So many changes for the better.

She will be fully worked into all but the running tumbling section by tomorrow's practice. I feel she should not even attempt her double full again for this season. Too much pressure and strain on her ankle. The physical therapist wants her to have a MRI. He believes the injury is more than originally anticipated. But then again, she has not told him that she has started to practice again (she goes to PT by herself). We see the ortho next Friday so I will let him know the therapist's thoughts!!!

I really pray it is not more than a 3rd degree sprain (I think that is the worse anyways!).

Good luck to all competing and keep us updated!!

Anyone else going to WSF in Springfield MA April 5 and 6? Worlds??

I am posting this from the Milk House.
buzzrider, your girls looked great on the mat. I hope you do well.
Thanks for sitting with us and supporting our girls. It was appreciated.

I need a little pixie dust. One of our flyers landed wrong and fractured her foot. She is on the way to the ER right now. Her mom isn't here and she's scared.

We'll be there Rosemary, well WSF...not Worlds! Ack...my computer's been acting up and I haven't been able to post on this board! Hopefully, this one comes through! We competed at Spirit Fest the week before last and then today at UCF's Pot of Gold Challenge at Twin River in RI. UCF was just a little extra one thrown in at the last minute but man...it was a GREAT comp! Extremely well run and a great venue to boot! MY daughter's team ended up with level 2 Grand Champs...Yay! Our Youth 2 usually always grabs it so the girls were SO excited to get it today! We leave for Orlando a week from Wednesday for American Championships. Anyone else going?

i do hope she is OK!! As a mom of a flyer who landed the wrong way and tore 4 tendons/ligaments in her ankle recently, I know what this young lady is going through..............and to be away from her mom!!! I will send my pixie dust!! Please keep us updated.

Glad to hear your DD's team did well at Twin Cities! Some of the Celebrity Take Two teams went I believe. I guess I may see you in Springfield at WSF and then I think there is a Jamfest there the following weekend we may be going to also. Not sure yet. I think they want the kids on the floor one more time before Worlds.

pixiedust: That the ortho visit will bring great news and that it is not more than the sprain.

It won't be long before you will be in Disney too :teeth:. Worlds will be here before you know it.

Our Junior 5 team will be there, but alas, none of the rest of us :sad1:

Good Luck to your daughter and her team at the upcoming competitions.
