2007-2008 cheer parent thread

I am so shocked right now, you have no idea.

Our tinys (my DS) were a little overwhelmed being outside and infront of the crowd. But they did alright and they were really cute.

Our minis (my DD) came in first out of 4. We were so surprised even because we dropped one stunt. But 2 of the other squads didn't build at all so we are thinking that helped us alot.

Our youth was so so they placed 4 out of 4. But they were so excited to get back to work and practice more on the basket tosses. We were very proud of thier attitude and getting back to work;

Our Juniors placed 3 out of 4. They are all first years cheerleaders for the most part. So we were really happy for them.

dd is in her 4th year - her team is the bulldogs and they have yet to distribute uniforms and stuff - but practice is 4 nights a week, 2 hours a day - so a total of 8 hours a week. it gets tiring driving around!! she loves it

WOW!!! They must be awesome! That takes major commitment!!!

1st time cheer mom here. I signed dd5 up for cheerleading back in May at one of the local parks. They started practice 3 days a week for 1 hr and a half back in June which is a HUGE adjustment for us compared to her 1 day a week gymnastics class. She likes it pretty well. There are 16 girls on the squad and the coaches are really great. The 1st JAMBOREE game is this Saturday. I am so excited and nervous. I hope she doesn't get in one of her funky moods. We are with the NORTH HENRY MIGHTY MITE TARHEELS in Henry Co. Ga.:cheer2: They just got their uniforms/shoes back this week and they are so cute. Looking forward to an exciting cheer experience. Her gymnastics class started back up this week as well. So can you say busy, busy, busy. This girl has me on lockdown 4 days a week.:lmao:

I just wanted to share some good news with all of you. I told you all in an earlier post that I was registering my DD in a 5 week tumbling class.

Well, in that 5 weeks, she has gotten her roundoff backhandspring!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We are so proud of her and she is really proud of herself too!

That sounds like a lot of fun!

This is cool, didn't realize there were so many cheerdissers! :cheer2:
I have 2 girls on World Cup Jr. Level 2. I thought our travel fees were a lot, but seeing what some others are paying I guess I shouldn't complain!! lol
We don't start competitions until December but I am looking forward to it. Maybe we can have a Dis meet at one of the competitions! That would be so cool. For those starting sooner, good luck and have fun!!!

WELCOME Disneyhopeful & Franne!!

This is a nice spot to come and enjoy everthing cheerleading!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

I'm also a cheer parent. My daughter is in high school, a senior, on the varsity squad. She never did youth league or all star cheering. She didn't start cheering until she joined the middle school team -- they did sideline cheering and dance, a little bit of tumbling, but no stunting. She took a few years of gymnastics, but her focus until high school was dance -- she started dancing when she was 4. Since she joined the high school cheer program, she dropped dance and has taken a lot of tumbling classes.

We do the local competitions and we make a trip to Florida every year for nationals. Since its a school team, the school provides some funds for uniforms, etc., but we also do a lot of fundraising to finance the trip to nationals.

she hopes to make the team in college next year. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Any one doing any Indy competitions? Our first comp is Oct 7th and then Oct 14th is another. We have 2 to 3 a month till April which is worlds

Well we go to local competitions as well as ones at Kalahari in Sandusky, Ohio (which is local for us) and we are debating The Arnold Classic in Columbus.

Well it is early in the season, and I am having cheer burnout. DD was at the gym 6 days this week: 2 for her normal practice, 2 privates (at $40 EACH), and 2 tumbling classes (at $10) each. Plus all the gas to get there. She's killing me. ;)

Is the season over yet??!!:sad2: Thank goodness they are closed on Sundays so I get a day of rest.
