20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

We're dressing up for pirate night too. I bought a new pirate costume for my little captain back in the spring (got a good deal on ebay) and have been struggling to keep it a secret from him. You see, not only did he wear his current pirate outfit LOTS on the cruise (more than just for pirate night), he STILL wears it 2 or 3 days a week! The boy even has a backpack to carry around all the pirate accessories. It's CRAZY!

He just asked me the other day if we'll still have the same guy who cleaned our room (Erwin) because he called Tyler Capitan every time he saw him because of how often he wore his pirate outfit! We have the room right next to the one we had last time because that one was already booked, so I'm hoping we have Erwin again. Anyway, his current pirate outfit is actually already a replacement because the one from the cruise got worn out, stained, and ripped from overuse! Therefore the new one is a secret until we're onboard.

GASP!! Methinks you didn't spend enough time on Duval Street BEFORE the said "sunset". I've seen a ton of them, and was rather inspired by them all!! (Actually REMEMBER a couple of them too!!!) :drinking1

Here is a photo of our Key West sunset...and do not adjust the color on your screen...it is not a black and white photo...it is simply hazy.

Even though it was a hazy evening, I still think that's a beautiful sunset! Call me crazy, but every sunset while on a cruise is beautiful to me! :cloud9:

For those of you who have not yet received your docs (like me), listen to this: People on the 9/9 cruise have started receiving theirs. Lucky folks!

Sorry to be a board-hog tonight. I'll try to gather all my thoughts first and combine into one post next time. BUT I just stumbled across something interesting for anybody who may not have seen this. It's a list of some hidden Mickeys people have found onboard. Many are obvious ones that I don't think would count as "hidden", but there are quiet a few I will be sure to look for! Here's the link: http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/Cruise/Magic.html

Just wanted to chime in and join the doc dance! We received ours yesterday and I'm sooooo relieved! :cool1: :cool1:

We're leaving very, very early on the 31st and taking the first flight down so we're getting close to those single digits...another dance fast approaching!

I'm trying to really cherish these final days because I know once we get down there the time is going to fly and then before you know it we'll all be going through cruise withdrawl. Ours was so bad the last time and it was only a four night!

I'm really anxious to see if they release dates for 2008 before we go or when we're on-board. I know my DH wants to rebook immediately.

Happy packing and counting down!!! :woohoo:

THANKS A LOT COURTNEY (Said with mock anger, a wink, a smile and then a pout) :lmao: As if I don’t think about the trip night and day…now I had to check out the other board…they seem nice.

I am going to be the saddest person on the planet on the 10th. :sad2:
I just wanted to share my pain ;)

Well, I've been lurking long enough, and with 2 weeks to go (can you believe it?) I suppose I ought to re-introduce ourselves.

Ben, Jenny and Lily (DD 3.5)
From Sun Prairie, WI
Flying down on 9/1 in the morning, renting a car, staying at the Residence Inn and then getting on board early
Flight is late 9/9 (don't even want to think about it) so we'll be renting a car again to see what the stretch between the Port and MCO has to offer for our flexible family.

Staying on Deck 7.

2nd cruise for Mama and Baba (Dad in Mandarin), 1st one for our xiao bao bao (little treasure in Mandarin).

Looking forward to meeting all of you and especially families with similar age kids!

Ben, Jenny and Lily

Welcome :)

Just a thought on things to do betw. the port and MCO- there's always Kennedy Space Center. that's a must see in my book!

That hidden mickey site was great - thanks.

We're dressing up for pirate night. Nothing extremely elaborate, just clothing that looks like pirate-like when it's all put together.

We're leaving on August 30th and I can't believe how fast the time has gone!!!!

Welcome. :wave2:

Does anyone feel like the 3 weeks before the cruise that time slows down? And, everything that can go wrong at work does. :badpc: :surfweb:

I'm the oppoosite. I think these days are flying by. I keep going out and buying new things and still don't think I am prepared and the days are flying!!! It also doesn't help that I start back to work next Wednesday. :sad2: The days before I go back go so fast.

BUT - then we go on our cruise :bounce: :teeth: :cheer2:

I have kind of a unique question about upgrades.

I booked our Cruise using our DVC points. I booked DW and my tickets using points and paid for my DDs. I called DCL to inquire about the possibility of an upgrade, but DCL told me that I needed to call DVC.

I called DVC to ask the question, and, initially, they told me that I had to call DCL about the question. When I told the woman that I had been there and done that and DCL told me to call her, she finally agreed to call DCL.

She came back and said that the ship has upper category cabins available. Her solution was to cancel my reservation and re-book the reservation for the upper category cabin. I told her that I was not interested in doing that. I was, instead, trying to see how much money it would cost to upgrade. I got no where with that conversation.

I then asked whether it would just be easier to upgrade at the port. At that point, the DVC rep informed me that there are NEVER upgrades available at the Port. :confused3 :badpc:

Instead of arguing, I just gave up and thought I would post something here.

Has anyone who has booked their cruise through DVC inquired about upgrading at the Port? And, if so, what was the response? :wave2:

We book using points and I always ask at the Port...there have been times when upgrades were available. It just depends on availability.

Hope this helps!

HA HA HA!!! Hey, be nice or I'll have to throw one at you! :rotfl:

I checked out the other board too, but there are only a handful of members. I'd probably scare them all with my tons of posts.

No docs yet. But what really makes me nervous is NWA's strike status. If they do strike, I hope it's only a couple of days so it will be done before I fly for the cruise. :scared1:

I was going to invite them to join our conversation, but there are only 10-15 of them, and they all seem pleasant...unlike our rowdy bunch of lawbook tossers. :rotfl:

Ok, I am only saying this to make you, Monstro and Courtney feel better, never the less it is true:

I was delighted to actually get my docs package because it was a signal to pack. The actual papers themselves were kind of let down, Two Bahama forms and some luggage tags do not compare to the fever I get from reading these posts each day...Your guys are way more fun than silly old papers! :cheer2:
