2006 Summer Sanitarium Tour

Well, I was kind of expecting her to drop Whiner off at our Deluxe Disney Vacation Club Accomadations for our Romantic Anniversary Trip and then dash out of there and maybe change her name.... but that didn't work out so I am hoping (?) that it is South of the Border Pin Lanyard complete with starter set of trading pins... the one with Pedro, the Big Hat, a taco and a dollar sign. But that is a bit much- I mean she wouldn't let Sirius buy all sorts of useful items for UtahMama so I am guessing an autographed 8x10 glossy of Pedro and the Askew family?????

Actually, they did have pins and lanyards!! I had to gently remind Sirius that we couldn't spend my alcohol money on that type of fun.

NO WAY!!!! Now I have to go google South of the Border to see if they have an online store.....

My Talula! A leather thong!!!!???? Ouch! That'd chaff.

Guys guess who just called me whilst she waited for her car pool kiddos???? S'Latey did!!! She has the sweetest southern belle voice! Thanks for calling me S'late! Funny I knew exactly who you were without using the caller ID! Cant wait to jump out of the bushes at you at midnight when you check in at POR! Dont worry, I'd giggle too loudly and never get away with it!

Note to self: Watch out for laughing bushes!

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! :cool1: Congratulations My Talula on guessing the appropriate and perfect gift for Twinkie Mama! Yep, I got her a leather whip!! It sounds like it will come in handy the next time Mr. Twinkie Mama tries to ban her from the DIS.

Most Excellent! What do I win? Free Disney Trips for life? Weekend at SOB? Drive by Whipping??

If we drive to FL this year, we're definately stopping at SOB this time. Maybe.

Here we were, back on 95, I am getting high on Diet Mt. Dew and a king size Three Musketeers to help me make it through the exciting state of South Carolina. However, on this overcast Thursday morning, SC was hotbed of blue light specials. Not the place to be if you had anything “illegal.” I saw so many car searches in progress that I felt as though I had had a thorough cavity search myself. Good thing I’m not trying to transport refillable mugs or Healies across state lines! I feel a sudden urge to listen to Jane’s Addiction. This intense coverage lasted all the way to the Georgia line, where Sirius was allowed to drive again. Can you believe it? Two times already!! I assume the trek through GA was fine as I am still alive. Once again we stopped at the FL welcome center for our cup of liquid sunshine. Mrs. Rude Speak and Spell must have been off that day. Instead behind the help desk were three very friendly and knowledgeable ladies full of information on I4 alternatives, construction updates, and such. Soon we were on the road again. We encountered our one and only crazy driver in Jacksonville. That’s right, I said one and only! Can you believe it? Apparently the flow of traffic traveling 80 in a 55 was not fast enough for him. He decided to use a left exit ramp as a passing lane, but ran out of road so he continued on the shoulder to make his pass. Don’t you just love those lane weavers who think they can get to the front of the pack by constantly changing lanes? A little further down the road he was stuck in the right lane. I wanted to take this opportunity to use my best sign language, but mentally challenged folks can be so unpredictable.

We were having such a wonderful day! Good flowing traffic, no whining (and the kids were behaving too), no MIL in tow. Could this actually be the beginning of a magical trip?

I am subscribing so that I won't miss anything! I am very interested in your TR as we have thought we might make a family trip next year and we are trying to decide if we can live through it!

This year we took 9 yr old DGD and felt bad that her parents (DS & DIL)weren't able to go (DIL is pregnant), and also DD who wanted to go but had started a new job. DD & DIL have had issues in the past and we're a little afraid that that many days together might be a disaster. I'll see how yours goes!

I live just above you in Virginia and have never stopped at South of the Border! What have I been missing?

DONT base your decision on S'late's TR!!! If you did, you'd be running for the hills !!!

Ok, WHERE (!!!!) is Sirius???? Havent heard from him since your NAP, S'late!!!!
Give me some ideas on a lil' gift from the Utahans that is sure to embarass the carp out of him! He needs to defend his being "allowed" to drive! His manhood is at stake!!!

Sirius has been sent to driving school.

Embarassing gift? Tiara? Orange cones?

I am not worried about the driving thing... I think playing Gran Turismo is a safer place to practice my driving(fewer tickets). Actually I don't have a problem driving. just driving with others. I drive for a living. besides driving a car I drive SO crazy. As far as my virtual silence I had to catch up on my DVRed Geek shows. :happytv: As I am caught up now I can catch up on the DIS...

Vicious Cycle:
Catch up on the DIS :surfweb:
Catch up on DVR :happytv:

When again am I suppose to catch up on sleep?

DON'T PANIC

I left you, my wonderful DIS Peeps, with an up-to-date traffic report. Apparently there is a new exit for the all-idiots expressway, and I4 is once again being used by normal people. Or was it just an off day? Or could it have been the fact that we weren’t trying to get to Wal-Mart by a certain time to get park tickets? Anyhow, like I said, traffic flowed smoothly all the way to the Vineland something another exit. I think I left out an embarrassing, yet important detail from my pre-trippie. As of 8/15, we (meaning I) still did not know where we were going to sleep on our first night. I know, I know, bad….why had I not had this planned months ago? Well, to be honest, I was hoping for a cancellation at Pop so we could add a day to our trip. By the 15th, I had given up, so I started a thread to ask DISers if we should go to Seralago or Grosvenor. A nice DISer said neither; you can get a room at the Sheraton Safari for $45 a night. So we did! I didn’t tell the kidlets about the hotel because Loud Mama needed all the magic she could get for this trip. The Sheraton Safari is really close to this side of the World. While I checked in, the Loud Children were whooping it up in the lobby telling passing strangers all about their journey to get here, and anything else that was on their minds. Room card in hand, we head around to our building and then proceed to unload all of our luggage out of the car. Can someone please tell me why I did not have the forethought to pack a suitcase of one-day supplies? Yes, we hauled seven suit cases up to our room for a 14-hour stay!

Up next: An unscheduled evening.

You are kidding! :rotfl2: The funny thing is my Dad's first name is Melvin. :lmao: We threatened to name our child Melvin Melvin if it was a boy. Good thing it was a girl! :rotfl:

What? You have got to be freaking kidding me! What kind of Obsessive Compulsive Disney Planner doesn’t have a well planned out evening? Well, it was my intention to let this trip go at a very leisurely pace. We had a few must do’s, and of course ADR’s, but other than that, we planned to take things slow. I know what you are thinking….Loud Mama have a relaxed vacation, how is that possible? :goodvibes As I mentioned, Grandma is old, and I wasn’t sure if she was going to be too stubborn and refuse a wheelchair. She had made herself nearly sick worrying about ruining the trip with thoughts of slowing us down, and she was afraid she wouldn’t survive the heat. Please remember these details; you will need this information later! Side note: I had a professor one time tell us, that if we asked if something was important, or if it would be on the test, then he would give that person an automatic failing grade. Do you know how tempted the deviant Loud Mama was? I had to squirm all semester in an effort to refrain from asking that question when he would discuss non-micro economic issues! He was big on Darryl Waltrip or some racer with the initials DW….I’m not a NASCAR fan, am I allowed to admit that in NC? Anyhow, he would start to talk about something racing related and I have to sit on my hands to keep one from going up in the air. Yes, I am THAT antagonistic!! BOT (back on topic for you newbies), our evening was filled with promise as we were free to do as we pleased and we were sans out-laws. We needed to enjoy our peaceful calm before the storm. I did have the forethought to find out the pool hours….great open til 11:00, but the slide closed at 7:00. We weren’t starving, so we enjoyed the python slide and the pool for about an hour. The kidlets took this opportunity to show off their newly acquired swimming skills as they were fresh off swimming lessons. They were so excited about being allowed in the “5 foot” as they described it. Afterwards, we did a quick change and headed for the outlet mall. In our previous Disney adventure, we had discovered a hidden stash of cheap pins at one such outlet. It was a set of 5 2005 pins for $8.99. We purchased three sets before leaving last trip as that was all that our budget allowed. We were somewhat disappointed that they were all gone, but it was ok, we still had plenty to trade and trading wouldn’t be a top priority this trip. I’d also like to add that we tried to explain the pin trading thing to BIL before we left. We showed him the pins and told him to budget accordingly. I’m sure there was eye rolling involved. Hmmm, Sirius had that same response. :confused3 Anyhow, Precious Felony, owner of 10,000 pairs of shoes, failed to pack tennis shoes, so we hit the Ked’s outlet for the cutest pair of pink Ked’s for $9.99! Next, we wasted too much money in the food court, and while everyone ate, I fantasized about our first refillable mug purchase. What would be our first drink? How do we wash the mugs? Do we let the kids get icees at 6:00AM? Shall I introduce them to suicides? Tomorrow we will be on free dining and we won’t have to worry about money!! Woo Hoo. Actually, I was too tired to realize that we were just hours away from our first on-site adventure. After we left the mall, I so wanted to get some sleep, but we had to hit the grocery store. With only two meals and day and a snack, we were sure to starve! We bought Pop-Tarts and mini muffins. I already had about 40 packs of Nabs brought from home. Deep Space 9 also forgot to pack socks and a swimsuit, so we headed to our beloved Wally Mart. We emerged about an hour or so later and headed back to our jungle abode.

Up next: Look at the lazy people!

NAB's! Bring me a package of Nab's and I'll trade ya for something Utahish. If there's something exclusive to Utah besides nice people with manners.

I cant believe you're not a Nascar fan?!? What kind of red-neck are yew? (I'm not either).

"Deep space 9" :rotfl2:

I thought my son invented "suicides"???? Isnt that one splash of each soda? In this case, one splash of COKE products (ew!).

Soooo, are you going to use these very same refillable MUGS this next trip????Since you probably didn't get your money's worth???? I think you should if nothing but to stir things up on the DISboards a little :stir:

GET TO THE GOOD STUFF!!! Did G'ma get a scooter? How many cigarette breaks did BIL take? Enquiring Minds want to KNOW! What about the Whiner??

Slatey!!!! I'm so happy your gittin goin on this! I leave in 4 days 6 hours 13 mins. and I'm an Eager Beaver! Dont want to miss too much!

One of my fondest Disney memories was watching the Disney info channel. I still remember sitting in the Tree House watching the advertisement for River Country. Oh, that was great fun!! I miss those tree houses and River Country. Anyhow, back in the hotel, we get the kidlets in bed, and I think Sirius posts something on the DIS. I’m channel surfing and I find this channel that we didn’t have at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird. It says Disney Resort Info, and this is a good neighbor hotel, and this cute Stacy girl sure knows a lot about Disney. What a nice service offered by the Sheraton Safari! They have their “own” Disney info channel. Little did I know that Stacy WAS the Disney voice to be enjoyed during our next 6 days! She’s everywhere kind of like Max Hedrom! Stacy in the hotel, Stacy in the lobby, Stacy at the bus stop….Stacy, Stacy, Stacy. And it was far from yummy, yummy, yummy. I can’t take anymore of the lazy people in the lazy river! It was almost enough to make me want to stay off site and use my own transportation! :scared1: But not to worry, my nephew worked my nerves more than Stacy. Alrighty, 6:00AM…come on people, move those fanny buns! There’s only five miles separating me from free dining. We have to pack, load the car, check out, drive to Disney, get checked in, get our hands on those hot cards jammed packed full of dining credits for us to use as we see fit, select our refillable mugs….MOVE IT NOW!!! Ok, breathe…..

I was having a grumpy day and then this...
