Linda - thank you for the invite to Salt Lake City. We've never been to Utah before... flown over it, I'm sure, but never been there. Then again, until a few weeks ago, we'd never been to Texas either. This will be the first time that either of us has lived in a state not bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean... and the first time I will have lived more than an hour from any major body of water.

I'm looking forward to chatting more with everyone and not "hiding" behind my mouse ears anymore. It would seem that on just about any cruise there's bound to be some Dis-ers. We're hoping to sail on the Disney Magic next year on a Western Itinerary with Key West in the stop. We had a great time there on vacation this past summer, having stayed at the Banyan Resort (we highly recommend this World Passport Collection exchange)... and then again when the Disney Wonder stopped there during the Member Cruise.

Here's an interesting Member Update story... two weeks ago, after the show was over, a Member came down to the front of the room to speak with me. He said he had been on the Member Cruise and while everything was wonderful, he was disappointed that we had to leave at 4PM and that he couldn't see the Sunset Celebration. I asked him if he was sure he had been on the Member Cruise, because we had stayed for the Sunset Celebration. He told me that we hadn't and that he had to be back on the ship early. I explained to him that the ship couldn't stay later than it did because the ship's thrusters would disrupt the 8:30 performance in the Walt Disney Theatre. He insisted we left before the sun went down. I figured at this point that I didn't have much to lose on this and then told him that I was 100% positive we stayed until 8:00, that I had in fact planned the entire cruise, sailed on the ship with him, and was personally one of the last people back on the ship at 7:55, after having seen the sun go down at 7:41 from Mallory Square. At that point, he then revealed that perhaps it was because he had early seating and had to be back on board for dinner.

Well, that's all for now. Talk to you soon,
David

Noreen!!! :cool1: :cool1: Mrs. Lips. Only those of us on the 2005 cruise have such a great admiration for a person we've really never met! :cool1: :cool1:

I still have my flashing lips, tucked away in my special box of things. Maybe I'll bring them next cruise, in honor of the fun we had on the 2005 one.

I am not THE Mrs. Lips of e-bay and member cruise board fame, but I did go as her for Halloween! Of course, noone got the joke but me! Glad your lips are still blinking Cindy! :rotfl:

That scares me! I need my beach! That is why I love Florida.

Thanks again David for everything.

RE: CC and SSMC05, when I booked last Oct. for the SSMC05 MS had all of my info from previous cruises-which was great because I was at DS soccer game at the time. I am not sure if that was typical or luck of the draw. Better to be prepared w/ the info in hand.

How about the Great Salt Lake??? That's only 30 minutes and you can "float" in the salt water. HA! Bet you've never done that before.

Actually, we are pretty fortunate here in Utah. We have many beautiful lakes and mountains to enjoy water skiing, snow skiing, 4-wheeler rides, snowmobiles, etc. And we have all the toys to do all of them. (Not that we have time to use them!)

Of course, you just can't compare the ocean to a lake. I grew up in California close to the ocean and I miss it. We do have Lake Powell though and if you ever want a great trip, get a house boat and hit the lake for the week. It is an incredible trip. We head down to Lake Powell every summer for an extra long weekend. It is a blast.

Oh there we go, we could get a huge houseboat and have a disboard reunion on the lake. Now that would be an adventure!

I'm right there with ya!!! I love houseboating on Lake Powell - done it twice with a bunch of former co-workers and it was a blast. No better way to relax and enjoy the company you're with than on a houseboat out in the middle of a beautiful lake. ::yes::

Good morning hopeful cruisers.

Call in day is 4 weeks away!

OK, I need an opinion...

I called Member Services yesterday. We have 200 points next year at BWV, Then to borrow from 06, we can get 14 for a week at BWV. We will have a stroller with us, so navigating the big set of stairs from the BW resort down to the BW may be difficult. (IAN will be almost 2). I understand that there is a way down, but it is complicated. I like this option because if we don't make the cruise, we will have only borrowed 14 points. This way we could bank the rest out for another year. At BCV, we have 114 left in 05, then we could borrow 100 from 06. I would rather use up my 05 points, but I think it will be much easier at BCV..... Decisions... If we make the 06 member Cruise, whichever place we stay in we will have to borrow points from 06 (December use year). So if I use the 11 months banking window, and don't make the cruise, then where should I spend the extra points??? I guess I could book a 7 day the next week.....All this doesn't matter because we will be on the member cruise; I should go ahead and book at BCV.... I thank you all for your advice and apreciate any comments...

:jumping2:

IN my opinion finding and using the BWV elevator is not that complicated.

There are even 2 elevators you can use. The one near the rooms that is past the check in area , or the one one that is near the bellle vue lounge.

So, both of them go down to the Board walk level...Hmmm, I have a few weeks until I have to make me decision.....

Thanks...

Queston:

If a DVC member stays at a DVC resort before the Member Cruise and then wants to stay a few more days after the Member Cruise do you think bell services would store a bag or two for you while you are on the cruise? Since the member cruise is only 4 days you wouldn't need to bring a lot of clothing. So, instead of packing around 3 bags (1 per person) I think our family could get by with 1 bag just for the cruise. Anyone do this for the last member cruise?

I didn't do this, but considered it. I was told that it was possible. We only stayed for one night before the cruise and 2 after. So, we just packed one bag for our night before and then just didn't open it on the cruise. Then, I only brought enough clothes for the cruise and went back to the DVC resort and did laundry and had clean clothes for the rest of my trip. My thought was that I just didn't want to trust Disney with my bags for several days.

Hiya! Sorry we havn't been on all that much; Will fill you in later.

But I do have a real announcement from WebmasterAlex:

The boards will be going down tonite, Saturday at Midnite eastern time. They will be down for an extended period, possibly 8-10 hours for maintanence.

MarkRG, Yuk, Bad News... No late night Dis fest. Now that you are a mod, can we get upset at you for bearing the bad news??? ;)

rsschneck, I am fairly sure that they will accomodate you. I have another problem; we will have a huge car seat that we will need all of the time BUT when we are on the cruise, so it will be taking up valuable real-estate in our room.

OK, I just cleared the 14th - the 25th as vacation days next October!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone!

I have completed yet another road trip to NC and back for the last time. We lucked out with the weather for driving everything home. Both my ds' vehicle and mine were packed so full that when we opened the doors last night, I thought everything would fly out in all directions. So, today I will give myself the van a rest. :moped: Next trip in 3 weeks will be to WDW!!!

Seems like I have missed quite a bit of chat here in the last week and have checked on all of you when I could. The last 2 days without internet was rough. But, I was wondering what I was missing for sure.

I will echo the wishes of others to our favorite DVC CM, David, who will be missed. He did an excellent job for our 2005 Cruise and his replacement will have some big shoes to fill. But hopefully some of us will get to see Will and him on future DVC trips - wherever that may be.

And to David - I'll have to tell you that if you guys get a chance to go to a DIS meet there in the Dallas area, let me tell you from experience that they have a great time and throw a heck of a party - I was lucky enough to attend one on my way home from my Calif road trip last March.

Well I'll check in again later - when I finish unpacking and resting up. :wave2:

The spa location is closed. However, DCL will relocate most of the fitness center to an alternate location on the ship. They are also evaluating how to offer limited spa services to passengers despite the facility being closed. For instance, massages on Castaway Cay still may be offered. They may do in-stateroom appointments for other spa services. This is all still being worked out by DCL - but for now it's better to not plan on the spa and find out later that they've been able to reinstate some of their services based on what they can feasibly accomplish.

Yikes! No Spa!!!! :sad2: This 2006 Members Cruise would be our first DCL experience. And how can we go on our inaugural cruise without the spa!?!?!?!?!?! :faint: What to do now?!?!?! :confused3 *SIGH*

I cant beleive no point charts yet!!!

Has anyone given thought to where your staying before/after the cruise??

I am leaning towards BCV... 1 bedroom before the cruise, 2 bedroom after, to save on points and to prepare us for the size of the ships cabins lol. I want to do Party for the Senses at F&W, and still debating if we want to do that the night before the cruise or the Saturday after... Sunday being travel day home... tough call, ya know.
