We are wearing pirate tshirts to dinner. You will have no problem. And, if you do, tell them that we already did it on early seating, as I remember that you are late seating. :rotfl: Kind of hard to bust us after the fact. ::cop: Right, Curt?
OK..We should be fine with tshirts then...Thanks!

That took chutzpah on the guard's part. Thank goodness those incidents are few and far between.

::yes:: That they are. :thumbsup2 I love Disney as much of the rest of us so I truly appreciate the positive encounters more than the negative.

In fact, the CM who called me from the executive offices said that when they do receive comments like these, that they address it with the CM involved as well as their supervisors. Then, they keep a log and if it happens "X" number of times, the general public will never see that person again, as they will be moved to another position, outside of the public view. They don't necessarily get rid of people because of that, but if they continue to have problems with an invididual, they will retrain them in another area. As we all can imagine, there are many areas within Disney where we don't see the CM's involved with the inner workings.

Karen, in all of our years, this was the first time we've ever been asked for additional proof. I can tell you, we've never produced a drivers license/room key unless we were going to a resort that we were not staying at -- as in dinner at the Poly or picking up Mark & Mary at the Boardwalk.

I also learned from the conversation that Disney keeps all letters they receive from people regarding their stays. This man that I spoke to was able to tell me how many letters I had written since 12/02 as the summaries of all of them were there in front of him. I was SO impressed. The CM could also see that I wasn't one to send nasty letters. It's a little game that Gary and I play, we enjoy seeking out the names of the CM's who go above and beyond (or maybe truly not -- just being Disney at it's best) and write followup letters. I know in life not enough positives are mentioned and we like to do our share of thanking those who help us have a greater Disney experience.

That's all we are wearing. Our goal for this trip is to pack light and since we aren't doing MNSSHP we aren't bringing costumes.

Hey a UTOP with Tina and pirate shirts!

PDFG and all who need it!

John and I are wearing costumes, but Deanna said NO WAY. I will get her a pirate shirt to wear - I'm sure she'll wear it if I get one with Johnny Depps face on it :rotfl:

Oh, it was a story in itself.

Let's just start by saying I bet she never makes that mistake again. :rolleyes1

When I took the kids in August, we stayed at VWL. We had no problem coming through the guard shack, most guards looked to see we had a valid parking pass and waved us through with a smile. Then one afternoon, it was raining Mickey & Minnies (can you imagine, we have cats & dogs here ;) ) and I pulled up to the guard shack. Instead of waving us through, she came out and asked for my drivers license and/or room key. I said and pointed that I had a parking pass in my windshield but she was adament, I needed to prove we were staying there. When I finally dug it out and was soaked myself from the rain, she pointed to the other lane, telling me I could go through that lane in the future with my room key, rolled her eyes at me, turned her back on me and muttered "welcome home". :furious:

When we got into the lobby, I sent the kids to the arcade and spoke to a manager. I could understand it if it was the norm to be asked to prove I stayed at the resort, but this wasn't the case. Even the manager said they always use the parking pass unless it's late at night. I can fully understand that. I truly think that I ticked the guard off by pulling up and having her have to come out of the guard shack in the rain, and she was trying to make me pay for it.

When we got home, I also wrote a letter to guest services and had a long conversation with a cast member who took the time to call me and apologize for her actions. :thumbsup2

It was less than a perfect Disney moment.
Double posts!

Diana, I'm really glad to hear your having Julia evaluated. Even if it turns out she doesn't need any services, it's a huge step to be able to make that call. Many, many parents wouldn't even do that -- for fear of finding out their child isn't perfect. All children are perfect, just is many different ways, as I know Julia is too. I've seen it a lot where parents just don't want to face what might be ahead of them. It's great that you are being realistic.

Now, what does it mean to be tongue tied? When Walker was born, he had to had his tongue snipped. The little thing underneath his tongue came all the way out to the tip of the tongue. Is that the same thing? The doctor was able to clip it, no problem in the office and with what seemed like very little pain to Walker at the time. We were told that it could cause problem later in life and the surgery then would be much more to go through.

Cindy - thank you for the description - I am 10 pages back but wanted to know if that's what it meant.

Thats a little excessive, going to the extent of asking for id and room key when you had a parking pass!...At lease she got wet in the rain with you!

Oh, I don't think we have been asked either....b/c we always have it out and ready. I could have sworn there was some sign outside the guard booth about having "photo ID or your room card" ready.

Yeah, I know. I get the same thing. :sad2:

It's really the bites out of the apples & oranges they throw a major fit about.

When Cameron was little, I took him into the grocery store. They had a sample person by the fruit and I think they gave him sliced apples. Next stop, the deli where they gave him cheese & lunchmeat slices. We're crusing through the store and I notice him chewing. So, I asked him what was in his mouth. He replied "bread". I'm thinking, we didn't get any bread samples along the way? So, I asked where he got it, and got a "back there". So, he takes me there to show me the loaves of French bread which are in the paper sleeve and the top portion is sticking out of the bag. Sure enough, there was a huge bite out of one of them. :teeth: :rotfl2: Needless to say, we ended up buying the rest of the loaf.

Which is why, still today, I don't ever buy bread that isn't fully wrapped. ;)
:lmao: :rotfl2: That is a funny story

Congrats! I wish ours would get here. I'm beginning to feel like I do on booking morning when everyone is getting in and I'm still on hold.

I understand Mary, I don't have mine either. Carol called yesterday to tell me she got hers. She wouldn't tell me what it looked like so I had to go to the DVC site and see it. It really looks nice - can't wait til ours come!

Does it require an invitation or can anyone join in? Is there a sign-up sheet that you all have? How do we go about getting involved?

Rochelle

Rochelle - hey we are in Keller!!! I am excited you are thinking of doing the CJ as we'll be close. I think Robin may do it as well so now we'll have a contingent in the North Texas area. I didn't do it last year (too much going on) but I am going to this year and the sign up is normally here on the thread after the cruise.
