Hey all!!!

I have a question for any people who are going to need huge amounts of luggage.. say for a wedding... I have, in the past but not to WDW shipped bulky necessities to resorts to be held for my arrival. With the new luggage surcharges it might be a great option for Wedding stuff. We have also shipped items back from FL that we were worried about getting damaged on the flight...

Caravan sounds fun, but we will be dropping off a rental car...

Hi David! LOL um who you talking about? ;) That's a great tip! We may do that as our friend that was going to hold onto the bulky dress is now not able to come so now we are asking another friend if they will store the bulk. If not I may have to ship some stuff for sure!

I wouldn't trust the dress to be shipped... I am just a little too paranoid. I was thinking more like gift bags and wedding gifts. A trip to the overpriced UPS store could make the trip home a lot less cluttered...

Oh no, the dress flys with me and stays with me or someone I know! It's my carryon :)

Yeah, we may ship somethings, but hopefully we can make it in under 4 suitcases!

Wow slow day on the thread today. I was able to catch up in no time!

I just got off the phone with Karen (of Curt & Karen fame) she was calling from the POTC store!! Don't you just love cell phones when you get a call from someone and they say "Guess where I am!?"
She said it's a bit crowded and most rides have a 60 minute wait! :crazy2:

Boy I can't wait till October!!! Hopefully no crazt lines like their having now, plus we'll be there with some great friends!

Hi everyone! That report on the mini meet was great. But I don't understand why everyone wasn't invited. We live right here in Orlando and we didn't hear anything about it. When you all were discussing it on the DIS I thought it was a private party for some of you while on vacation here in Florida. Am I missing out on something? I HATE to miss out on anything! ;)

For us the DDE card was going to be the most economical route. What I did was, I went into each menu for each restaurant we are planning on eating at and got the cost of the meal. Then I added tax and tip to that.

The dining plan is a great deal for sure---but with us arriving at the hotel at noon on Friday and then leaving around 11 on Sunday morning, we were going to need to pay out of pocket for at least 2 meals on the pre-cruise part of the trip above and beyond the 2 CS and 2 TS we get. Then the post-cruise because we get there early on Thursday and don't leave until later Saturday afternoon, we ran into the same problem, cash for at least 2 meals. And of course I wanted to eat at more Table Service places than 4 during the 6 days we'll be there--that was the kicker.

Then, when taking my August trip into consideration, it was WAY cheaper for us to do get the DDE card over the Dining Plan.

Thank you! Now you have saved me the trouble of sitting down and figuring it out!

Now this means I have to get that AP and order the DDE card!

Diana - thanks for the info! I think we'll be orderd a DDE card before October. We'll use it again in December it should pay for itself by then and any use we get next year is gravy.

Saturday October 21st DIS Meet Info:

A couple of people asked about this so I thought I would post it again. We are also hoping to get it up on the website this weekend. This is a tentative plan and could change IF DVC decides to do something on Saturday night. If they do we'll adjust the DIS meet to go with it just like last year.

We will be meeting at 3pm at the Solarium in the Beach Club. This is a nice open room that will provide plenty of seating space, is inside so we don't have to worry about the weather, and is easy to get to from just about anywhere in WDW.

Hi Guys. I'm still lurking. Has anyone heard of anyone getting a booking from the wait list yet. I know the 20 day mark is coming up soon?

Our fingers + toes are crossed! :thumbsup2

I think I should get a commission for "selling" all these DDE cards now!! :lmao:

Seriously though--it worked out to if you think your family is going to need to actually pay for 1 or more sit down meals about and beyond the meal plan because of whatever reason, and you plan on going back to WDW within the 12 months, the DDE is economically better.

Annmarie,
I'm so glad you got on board with us for the Grand Gathering Fireworks cruise. There are 38 of us apparently. How many does the ship hold?
I've only done the poontoons, is this the yacht that they do from the
GF. I know we are leaving from the Contemporary so I'm just a bit confused.

It is a pontoon style boat. Disney says it holds 36-42 people (I think that depends on how many kids there are).

We are still going with the Dining Plan. I want to splurge! I am not looking at prices I will get whatever I want!:woohoo:

We are using the dining plan for Oct. and Dec. so I will decide if the plan is right for our family or not. I am budgeting for our DL trip for next week and I am figuring $100 per day for 3 of us and that is mostly CS meals with AP discount. On the WDW DDP our family of three will be paying $87 per day including dessert, appetizers, tax and gratuity. I still think the DDP is a GREAT deal.:thumbsup2

DD and I drove to the Coast today. It was nice! (should have left the dog at home) Anyway, it is 103 degrees in town, so the coast was really nice today!

Hey Georgie - nice to see you. Didn't realize (or I forgot) that you were on the waitlist. Here's hoping you get in!

Member Gallery Update!

First off my apologies since I received both of these a while ago and just didn't get them updated. The Member Gallery has been updated with the following cruisers:

Rose (aka sock68) says she doesn't post much and is traveling with Janet and Sue. Rose we hope you post more so we can all get to know you!

Hope (aka tn4mickey) is traveling with her DH Duane (who just celebrated a birthday on 7/13 - happy belated birthday Duane.

As we are getting closer and closer to the cruise nows a good time to encourage anyone else who hasn't given us their info to send it in. Right now we have 41 families and we are making 98 buttons. Are we missing you???????

Mary - I think I owe you our information. I have to ask Shawn to take our picture and then figure out how to post it.

Ugh. :headache:

You should see the very complex spreadsheet I've compiled with both of our reservations on it. I'm such an organized freak!!

I don't think I told you guys about the analysis I did comparing the cost of the Dining Plan vs getting a DDE card for our meal needs in October. If I showed you what I came up with, you guys wouldn't even want to be seen with a geek like me. :teacher:

Diana, please share! I am a budget manager for the number 1 health plan in America and can appreciate your efforts.

Got all my dinner ressies for our upcoming trip in Aug. Got Thur nite at Tony's / Wishes, Fri nite at Rose and Crown 7pm / Illuminations and Sat nite Raglan Rd at 8pm / Entertainment. Wed nite I have to book Margaritaville at the request of my DD. Anyone been there?

Diana,

I do the spread sheet thing too. I have used the same template for the last 20 yrs probably. It works for me but what I have noticed over the years I got much less "comando" style and we always make sure we relax at the resort pools now...Age takes it's toll, LOL. I have one for the cruise too but it's been difficult to fill out with no communication from DCL.

lol Ilene! You sound like me! I create spreadsheets for so many things.

I agree about cruise information. I really wish Disney would send us some information. I am planning to go online to make plans our plans for the cruise. There are several activities we'd like to do this year.

We should try to get together before the cruise. Afterall, we don't live that far away from each other.

Like I said, for our family it doesn't work, but for many I'm sure the DDP is a great deal. Every one of our sit down meals was an all you can eat thing. Hollywood & Vine, Cape May Cafe, Ohana and LTT. Plus another CMC breakfast. So for us it was the $20 something plus tax and tip, no appetizers, no desserts to add on. Now if we were doing menu restaurants every sit down, I'm sure the numbers would have worked out differently.

So you can really appreciate my Actuarial skills! :lmao: I have it saved on the laptop, I'll have to send it to myself so you can see my number crunching.

Mary, the ballet crocs look cute. Not something for me in my wardrobe, but I could definately see those being casual shoes for work. I'm still on a hunt for the scutes. Maybe I'll find them in Hilton Head -- not that we do a lot of shopping but maybe. If not, I'm going to order them from crocs.com when I get home. Diana, did you find them any place?

Just a reminder that tonight is cruise chat. Hope some of you can join us.

Busy tonight so no chat for me. I hope you all had fun!

Our neighbor who is a contractor just left with our house key. Fortunate for us, he has a couple of days free next week and is going to do some work while we're gone. :thumbsup2
