2006 change in Park tickets available for land/sea

For those of you trying to compare quotes for a land/sea pkg life just got a little easier. Disney has decided that beginning Jan 1, 2006 all Land/sea pkgs will include a 7 day MYW ticket with the Park Hopper option. You will be able to upgrade to the Plus Pak or the No expiration, but now the standard is 7 day w/ park hopper.
I think this will make it much easier to compare quotes. I know that I have been having trouble since different TAs quote different amt of days for tix and different options.
And I did confirm this with DCL.

Why would most people want a 7 day park hopper with the land/sea package. It seems like this is a way to sell a more expensive ticket with the extra days and people not use them. I guess it would be great to spend $35 so that the extra days don't expire. Especially great if you don't use it the morning of the cruise, or even the first day that you arrive at the parks.

I agree that it doesn't make much sense for most people. Since we are coming from the west coast it isn't likely that we would use them anytime soon. The only thing it does for me is allow me into the parks on the day we arrive. We were planning to relax by the pool. Now maybe we would go see the fireworks or something that evening.

FYI, the no expiration upgrade is $55 per ticket, not $35. Additionally, I was told by DCL that the ticket actually does not expire for 14 days from the date of first use. Addtionally, if you are booking a pre-reservation add on night(s), you can use the tickets ahead of time. Note that I did confirm this info with a CM at Polynesian check-in.
