Lisa, don't you just love Jet Blue! I also love that you can have 3 checked in bags, 70 pounds each! We have been flying Delta to Tallahassee for all these trips, and they are 50 pound limit. It is VERY easy to get a bag over 50 pounds without even stuffing it!

Also, definately look into Avistar for parking your car. Go to www.avistarparking.com they have online coupons, you can make your reservations online, and they give you a ride to and from the airport. I checked the pricing for Newark, it is $79.95 per week with the coupon. We use the one at La Guardia all the time, they are very nice and never have had a problem. They also have a facility at JFK. It is a lot cheaper than airport parking! I hear in the winter they even clean the snow off your car and warm it up for your return.

Jindy, from what I have read, Ron Jon's is the closest to the beach and the Port. That's where we are staying, but of course... you know that already! That lazy river with the heated pool sure looks relaxing to me!

Robin

We absolutely ADORE jet blue. I could gush but I won't since I'm too tired. My parents used avistar for their last couple of trips (one during the winter) and they DO clear off the snow. They loved it! But there is this local guy with towncar service who will charge $230 round trip and with 20% gratuity it's actually less than 2 weeks and a few days in avistar (the coupon for JFK is $89.95/week plus tax). DH thinks it's a no brainer, having someone else drive us and I would incline to agree (we are probably a good 90 minutes from JFK... I grew up in Brooklyn so it's a little weird for me being so far from it now).

So the last time I paid attention to cruise stuff the Radisson was the place to stay. Ron Jon's is the new thing?

Either or

Both Are Fine ...

Back from our cruise, wonderful as always, if you can at some point, book a concierge room, it's very worth it.
Wonderful cruise itself, the Magic is wonderful. Food divine, wine divine, deserts divine, Palo's was incredible. We had so-so weather, but the hammocks are up on Castaway Cay so that was a plus.
We bought into DVC too while on the cruise. Between Jeff's cast discount and the discount they are offering now it was worth it.

Gotta go tho, picked up an extra shift for tonite to pay off the cruise and the DVC stuff now

Scott I read that post too. I hope that means my mom can join me! LOL! I wouldn't worry too much about your GTY status. You might even get upgraded.

Jindy -
Were you able to add your mother to your cabin yet?
A friend of mine decided she wanted to go on the cruise, too, and I initially called about a month ago to try to add her and was told that the cruise was at capacity and I couldn't even bring my single occupancy room up to standard double occupancy. My TA put the request on her own personal "keep trying" list and DCL added the request to their own waitlist.

On Tuesday night I saw that post and the very next day I called and left a message for my TA. She got the message on Thursday and called DCL to try to add my friend. At first DCL told her a canned "no we can't, the cruise has been sold out for months... yaddayaddayadda". My TA insisted DCL try to put the change through and to the surprise of everyone -- it worked!!

Hi Jindy
Well, tonight I made an on-line reservation at the Tropicana for $79 at a AAA rate...I have a feeling that they, too, are trying to charge my TA more for accessible rooms...The law says that a hotel is required to provide rooms for people with disabilities at all price ranges as rooms provided to the general public. If they choose to make
all of their accessible rooms deluxe-level rooms that is their prerogative. It is not their prerogative to charge people with disabilities for that choice.
They are required to provide an
accessible room at the price you would be paying if you did not need a wheelchair accessible room.
I wonder what they'll do when I show up with Cash......

Linda, good luck with all of this, but I would like to point out one small problem that could be hanging this up. If they run out of regular level handicap rooms and all they have is the deluxe level, then provided they have an adequate level of handicap rooms, they can charge you more in some cases. I highly doubt that a year out this is the case, but it could be. Obviously the hotel would need to tell you that all of their base level rooms are booked for that time and so on.

I doubt that is the case though and frankly I think its a shame what the CC Inn tried to pull. I have friends of friends who train service dogs and I see what they go through sometimes and it amazes me that people so many people in the service industry don't understand the needs of the guests and the dogs. In monorails, I try to give the dog and guest their own car, and if that isn't possible, I will not put them in a car with kids. A lot of my cast members don't understand that and don't do so and I try to educate them as well.

Welcome back Jen and Jeff! Glad to hear you had a good time. Regarding the so so weather, this has been a really unusual year for weather. We always have cruised in late February and the weather has always been picture perfect. This year (2004) it was so cold I almost bought a DCL jacket, and we have virtually no sun. Let's hope next May will be good weather wise. If not, there is no doubt we still will have an great time!

Robin

OK made it back, three implants and a chunk of bone out of my leg to augment the upper jaw area. Man was I out of it for about a day. Lynn did a great job of taking care of me. Thanks for the kind thoughts. Bumed no running for 8 weeks. Oh well.

I feel better about the GTY status. I will keep bugging DCL every so often.

Jen and Jeff congrats on DVC, as they say Welcome Home. We are going to try and go on the member cruise Sept of 05. SO the Cat 3 was well woth it. Tell us more.

Now to get caught up on this thread after this quick a quick skim.

Scott, what can I say but ouch!!!! It pains me just to think about it. Glad to hear that you are on the mend.

I was wondering how many of you are staying at the port the night before? I keep thinking that might be a lot more relaxing than going to MGM the day before. Plus, I can also go to the store if I need to (will rent a car).

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? Or better yet, on where NOT to stay! My only requirement is that I am close to the beach and the port.

Ahh, Cash and I are staying at the Hyatt MCO the night before...zip, zip, no car, no limo, just shuttle. I'd love to stay at the port...Ron Jon's, perhaps... Guess I'll just have to take a little bottle of sand to sprinkle around in case the waiting to sail gets too intense...

Get a couple of water bottles and get some of that castaway cay sand in december ;)

Scott- I hope you are feeling better:( I worked surgery Sat. & we did the whole Implant, graft thing. I was thinking of you! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Did'nt seem like much of a weekend since I had to work Sat. Small price to pay to go on this cruise though!

I hear everyone talking about different places they are flying from to back in CA. I have never been there so I am not familiar with any of it. Is there a different airport near by to fly out of other than LAX? Where is everyone else flying back from?

Kim

Kim-fly out of Orange County or Long Beach if you can instead of LAX. Both airports are much easier.
Jet Blue flies out of Long Beach if that is an option for you.

Jen and Jeff-Welcome Home! How many points did you end up getting? Maybe I could just go work at WDW for a short time so I could buy some more points and get a great discount!!!

Okay, budget meeting to go to.

Later,

Linda

I originally had my flights booked out of Orange County. But, Delta changed the flight time to 11:15 am. Obviously, we would not make that. The next flight was at 4:00. I didn't want to wait around that long. So, I booked a 1:45 flight out of LAX.

I would have preferred out of Orange County, but the flights were either too early or too late.

No such luck - yet. I copied your post to my TA; hopefully she can find out if my mom can be added.

Thanks so much for posting that info!!!

Linda

200 points to start. Cast Discounts + current incentives were too good to pass up.

Jeff,

I think you guys will be very happy with your DVC purchase.
Now you can get a room at the Grand CA for after the cruise.

Guessing you got your points at SSR as that is where the incentives were being offerred.

Scott, yeah we're thru SSR. Do you want to get together when you're down again in 2 1/2 weeks?
