We are going to try to use points also for our stay. Hope DVC gets their act together....and soon!

We do Disneyland all the time. Everything is sooooo close. Along with the Hilton we have stayed at the Marriott also. They have a great package that includes breakfast. Both the Hilton and Marriott are on Convention Way. Just a hop, skip and a jump from DL.

Linda

:yo-yo:

I also called this AM, nada. Bummer, I also wish they would get it together. We will see what Monday AM brings as we all give them a call.

Yes let's all call at 9am and ask for the info, they won't have it yet, then say "the monkey flies at midnight" and hang up. We have to do something to pass the time... :)

Seaulater,

Do you get the Marriott packagae through the hotel's website? Is this the Marriott that is 1.5 miles away from DL and runs a shuttle? I looked at the prices for the Hilton - They're pretty steep.

Air fares for one way back from LAX are incredible!

I just booked $72 for LAX to ROC. USAir. ($52 before taxes).
Would have been cheaper ($67) if I connected through Pit, but only small planes from there to Roc.

I will be lucky to get to Orlando for that!

Now it is getting real!

By the way, have finally read all 60 pages of posts! Thanks to all of you for all the valuable input! We are first time Disney cruises (fifth cruise total--all others on RCCL). We (two couples) are also on Deck 6.

Can't wait.

Bill

Do you think that's a mistake on US AIR???

I bought 5 tickets from LAX (I hate LAX) to Dulles for $52 ($67.70 with taxes).

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! So it would seem we are returning on June 2. Now I need a hotel... :) What a steal!!!!

[edit]

OK so I was checking for the WAS-MCO leg and it was $100-$120 which seems so high compared to $52 for cross-country :) I will wait for the one!

Bill:

I sure hope so. Our plan is to go to Disneyland from the cruise for two days and come back to Rochester on Monday.

Supposedly there is an Airport Bus--$16 pp one way that leaves from the park. With the abundance of hotels near there, transportation shouldn't be a problem.

Supershuttle also operates in LA. Couldn't find any prices on their website, but used them in Tampa last Dec and worked out well.

Bill

If I had to pick an airport it surely wouldn't be LAX. I *hate* LAX. But considering my plans I can make it fit, and for a $67 fare, I can handle it.

Depending on what airlines service your local airport Orange County/John Wayne (SNA) or Long Beach (LGB) are actually closer to Disneyland (I think)...plus there is less traffic to go through.

The fare I got today was only at LAX. It was $582 from SNA and US Air doesn't fly from LGB (JetBlue's home).

I'm planning on playing in Hollywood/Bev Hills on Wednesday, June 1. We'll probably stay at the Westin by the airport (LAX). I love that hotel, it's very nice and they have the best beds in the world!

our flights will go like this BOSTON TO FLA.. $79.00

CAL TO BOSTON FREE Rapid rewards ticket..

and we will probably stay AT the PORT With MOOCOW35

Meb51-I always call the Marriott Hotel directly there in Anaheim on Convention Way. They have always had a "hotel" special package that they haven't had on the website or the 1-800 number. Not sure what they are offering right now, when we stayed for Christmas 2003 we used Marriott Rewards Points and paid zippo!!!!! Great Christmas present. Just wish we would have spent the same for Disneyland for the 4 days. Oh well!!!!

On airports-my two cents worth is this. If there is anyway you can get a good flight out of John Wayne (Orange County) it is worth its weight in gold. Twenty minutes to get there (new freeway-with the HOV lane, take Super Shuttle-they pick you up and all that good stuff). I have had people take the transportation from LAX to Anaheim and it has taken over three hours each way! I planned a convention there in 2002 for over 500 people at the Anaheim Hilton (on Convention Way, next to DL) and everyone going in and out of John Wayne were happy, LAX very unhappy. They were getting picked up at 4:30 a.m. just to make an 8:00 a.m. flight. Traffic from Anaheim to LAX can be miserable, just warning you.

If you can get a flight in and out of Long Beach, that's good too. Jet Blue flies in and out of there.

By the way, I lived in Southern California for 14 years, and we go back at least once every year. It took us 2 1/2 hours one time from 3-5:30 p.m. leaving LAX in the rental car and finally pulling up to the Disneyland Hotel. I haven't flown in and out of LAX since then when going into Southern California to stay.

Okay, I more than used up my space for today!!!!

Remember, when we get into California it will be Memorial Day Weekend!

Linda

Would love the company Peter and Jen! I am looking forward to the pool at Ron Jons!

I am holding off on air for the time being. Thanks for the tip on the cheap air. I'm not sure if I will be living in Connecticut or Florida by May of next year:confused:

Linda,
Thanks much for the info. We will definately be flying to Austin from Orange Co. I got into the LA traffic in 1995 while trying to find Dodger Stadium. Never again.
Bill

This has probably been answered, but I can't find it on the thread, so I'll ask.

What is the recommendation for transfers from the ship to the airport in California? We booked the cruise, but without transfers as we don't need them in Orlando. Is Disney doing them, and if yes, to what airport and at what cost? I think it's time to pin down the return home part of the trip.

Thanks in advance for any info / recommendations.

A quick catchup and here is my thoughts, ........

First welcome aboard to the new folks, wow we are getting a rather large group.

When going to the LA area we tend to use SNA as a an arrival and departure, unless we are heading further west. Close to DL and Super Shuttle has been good for us.

I think we will either use Super Shuttle or maybe a limo. Have an old Grad School buddy, he is in "the business" and he just visited us here. I will have to ask about a recommendation for a limo service.

Went camping yesterday to celebrate our 24th anniversary, next year's cruise will be to celebrate our 25th.

Anyone interested in a live aboard dive vacation in February, 05, we have a 65' ketch chartered Feb 12-18, will cruise and dive the Bahamas.

Busy getting things together for a dive class tomorrow and open water trip next weekend. Looks like I will be traveling most of next week.

Fellow DVC'ers did you read the Member Club House yet, just noticed that they announced the West Coast and transition cruises, says there is a point chart, have not checked yet.

Stateroom Availability is limited and subject to change.

Off to check what they say about points.

Points are there, guess they are a little late as it is all sold out and not available at this time for us to use points.

Way to dangle a carrot that we can never reach. Sorry for the vent. I love DVC and have been very happy, up and till lately, with their lack of ability to get the 2005 contracts together. I will be with you all on the phone Monday morning bugging those poor MS folks who are getting tired of telling us the contacts and points are not there yet.
