10 hours each way from Salt Lake to Anaheim. Flight time 1-1/2 hours. Much better to fly. But if we drive we leave late afternoon and drive to a place called Baker, California, stay the night in a cheap motel and then get up at 6 a.m. and drive the rest of the way and drive right to DL and get there when they open!!! Then we check into our hotel later that day.

The castles are perfect! Just what I had in mind! I love the map too! Vey nautical! Great job! Viking online is a great source of discounted office supply products- check them for prices on the magnetic sheets too.

Linda~ I received the book you suggested today from Amazon. It looks terrific and the pull out map is great! Got my reading cut out for me now. I also got the unofficial guide to Disneyland, as we've never been. But from all of your input, sounds like I can send it back, as you guys are a better source.

Thanks for all the tips! I will probably have more questions as time goes on. This 3 night stay will probably be the only trip we take to DL, so we figured why not blow the wad & stay at the Californian. LOL! We are used to BWV & Beach Club, so we wanted to get a comparable hotel to them. Is the MK in Fla bigger than DL? Can't picture any Disney Park small, so this should be interesting. I guess I'm used to EPCOT.

Jeff... I love the door magnet design! What a great idea! I also like the idea of the deck plans... but of course I have no idea where I'll be yet! Guess that will add an element of surprise to our trip!

I think I am more excited about this cruise, even though we're also booked on the 10 night Christmas cruise. We've got a few other friends who are going on this one as well, so it will be even more fun. I'm trying to get them to sign on to this thread as well... it's just a matter of time. Does anyone know if there is a way we can request to be seated together for dinner?

Jen-glad you got your book. It's great. We laminated our map and it was great on the stateroom wall.

On the DL vs. Magic Kingdom question. DL is smaller. It has more stuff, but Magic Kingdom in WDW has alot more space and therefore more walking. You will love It's a Small World at DL when you walk up to it. WDW's It's a Small World doesn't even compare!

I'm so excited that this is your first trip to DL!

Hi Dianthus, we're doing both cruises. Can't pass up an opportunity to cruise to/from California!! We've been waiting a long time for DCL to come out this way! Cancelled the Christmas cruise to do the second repositioning cruise (too many vacation days!).

Disneyland is smaller than the MK at WDW. DCA (Disney CA Adventure) is smaller. The Grand Californian is beautiful!! There is a walkway from GC directly into DCA. Also, there is a walkway directly from GC to DTD (Downtown Disney). The "feel" of the GC is more like the Wilderness Lodge. As jin diesel pointed out, it is a short walk from any of the hotels to DTD, DL or DCA. Sorry for all the abbreviations - just used to using them.

We visit the parks a couple of times a month so if you have questions, feel free to ask!

Regarding the question of sitting together at dinner, just link your reservations together. Your TA or DCL can do this for you. We've done this a few times AND asked for a specific server! They are very accomodating!

I have no opinion. You don't know how unusual that is!

I am just so pleased someone is putting this together, and the magnet page looks great! I wouldn't know one Font from another so I wouldn't be inclined to pay for it. Gotta save those pennies for the cruise dontcha' know!

We had some great business card size magnets made by Dean Heller on the January 31, 2004 sailing of the Magic. Good thing he gave us two sets. We had one set stolen off of our door. It seems like the large ones, especially if they had pictures of the occupants, were left alone.

I love this idea as well. For my kids, it is really great to be able to take a wipeoff marker and markup a map. I think we will be doing the same.

To follow up on all the Magnet Stuff.


I know the other reposition cruise people are already *MAILING* magnets back and forth and thats great, but frankly we are still a year away. I definitely want to at least get a reasonable idea of how this stuff prints out and perfect it and maybe incorporate any changes that people request who join our merry band a little further down the road.

As far as cost, right now I'd consider them our gifts at the Sailaway party. (The exchange of small trinkets was a great part of my last DIS infested cruise - we brought bubbles and hence Jen got her nickname). If we get up to a hundred staterooms, then obviously thats starting to get beyond what I could afford, and we'd need to look at other charges. I would mail them out to anyone that wants them before the sailaway party, but thats still a year away. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we do have time. Having run the scavenger hunt/great race during mousefest the last 4 years, I know how quickly things can and can't be done. (T-shirts - 6 days - if you REALLY REALLY beg)

Living in Florida, I'm going to be getting hoofed to the boat by friends/family, and while I'm limited in what I can put on the plane, I can get a TON more onto the boat, so if anyone wants to send anything ahead I'm sure we can work something out.

That said, I think everyone here is pretty much in concurrence with the last design for the door magnet, so I'm going to continue working on it (fixing the center alignment, cleaning up the map, etc) until its to my satisfaction that it looks good. Once there, I'll start working on Buttons, and other associated stuff.

Thanks again for the deck plan kudos. I haven't seen anything like that done before for any DIS cruise and I think it really ties together where we are all at. It will be really interesting when cruise documents start showing up with actual staterooms for all the GTY people.

Also, contrary to popular belief, I don't read these forums ALL day, so if you see a good thread, or other good link, drop me a PM with the URL so I can put it in the archived link's list on my page.

Printed off a copy so far. Here's the changes I'm working on now that I've seen it in ink.

1. Sides of the print are very stark. Need some type of fill

2. Need a better copy of the mexican flag. The crest looks very poor next to the gautemala flag which has a very VERY sharp crest.

3. The map needs to be cleaned up. Its not as bad as I thought, but the words and the line showing the travel area needs to be sharpened.

4. The cruise logo at the top needs to be sharpened up. It is very VERY rough compared to the rest of the text.

5. The watermarked cruise logo needs to be a hair less opaque.

6. The castles need a touch of cleaning, particularly sleeping beauty.


I did change the dates to May 14-28 (dropping the th's)

I'm open for suggestions for the sides. I've thought of watermarking some PC pictures, but haven't found anything great yet.

Anaheim North or South are the 2 choice I get when I go on to www.hotwire.com to check out rooms Witch is the better location and was Hoping to stay across the street from Disneyland
just looking into it .. Depending on Rates we may stay at one of the disney hotels... just because .. Disney Stands for Quality....


Maleficent59 U are so lucky to be going on BOTH trips....

I may be also doing that as well have to do some checking Today.... Dropped the ball on the return Cruise So looks like
it may cost a little more ... will see what we come up with....

may have to cancel another up coming cruise to do this..

But would really like to be on the return cruise as well.. Since the cruise I may have to cancel is an Eastern route that we have done already twice would not be upset but , it is Cruisetoberfest3
with lots of great people on it... so I will know better later today.... checked out Dcl website and there are rooms....

Would it not Be Awesome to be on both ...

that would mean no cruise for another year .. but 2 14 days in one year...... hmmmmmmmmm

An its not like the redsox will be in contention when you're on the 14 day return trip.

Course you won't get to enjoy great moments of baseball like Don Zimmer and Pedro frozen in time because the ship lost its lock on the satellite dish. Absolutely the most amazing moment, when 200 people in diversions all go "And what happened? STOP TURNING THE SHIP"

It would be cool to do both, but its WAY out of my league especially since I need a verandah. Not to mention I won't have the time off and frankly we have about 4 other vacations to get to that this one jumped ahead of in line because its a once oppurtunity.
