I noticed from Tigfanjeff's list that there are a couple of us grouped across from each other on Deck 7...

Maybe a list by stateroom would be helpful.

Oh we have late seating, forgot to include that. Will have to dig up some pics. I have them here somewhere. My desk is a mess. And yes I'm a store CM...I have store crap all over my desk too. I think too much for that job! :)

I'm hoping you are not in a store that got mucked up by project go. They really did way too much tinkering with the stores, and now that they are slowly starting to bring back adult stuff.

Well the entire list includes staterooms, so for now that will work. Unless I move things to a database format, its hard to do sorts like that that would group staterooms.

But I'll keep it under consideration.

I'm already there! The thing about cruises (at least for me) is that the anticipation is half the fun. When we don't have anything planned, life is just not as much fun.

We took our first cruise just wanting to try it out and figuring it would be just okay, but we were curious. I never DREAMED that we'd become one of those addicted people! Not in a "Barb and Tony" sense but certainly 5 cruises in 4 years qualifies as addicted to most people!

Thanks Tigerfanjeff!!!!! You have way too much free time on your hands! Love the door signs. We could pattern our buttons around the same kind of theme. As long as you can give me a pattern for buttons at some point, I can make them out here. At the rate you are going, you are going to have the sign ready on our one year anniversary out from the cruise, MAY 14, 2004! We are almost on a real countdown!!!!

Robin, I don't think your idea will work for adding the third person to your cabin for DVC points. From what I have gotten from DVC in the past, the 1st person has to be points, the 2nd and 3rd could then pay cash. At this point, you are probably better off having the person pay, because the only way I can see it happening is cancelling your ressie (which you don't want to do if you got a good price) once you go through DVC. And when the call goes to DVC to DCL at 11 months out (still one more month to wait), they will go on the current prices, not what we all booked for on May 5th. Anyway, just my two cents worth. If the third person is really considering going, I would sure try to add them to the ressie now, because if they get to capacity controls, you may not be able to add the 3rd person to your stateroom even if staterooms are available elsewhere on the ship. You can always get the $250 back on the deposit. So, if they are seriously considering it, they should book and then cancel later.

Okay, I'm going to get to work.

By the way Jeff, I love the decks with the colors for us Dis' boarders!

Welcome to all our new friends.

Linda,

Don't ever say I have too much free time. Jen will find things for me to do. Seriously though, my job is a fighter jock type job. When it is all running well, its great. When things go bad, it REALLY goes bad and my life becomes hectic.

Regarding the signs and buttons, sure I'll gladly get something we can use for a button going. Obviously *ALL* of this stuff is WAY preliminary as I don't want any of this to be finalized until a little while before the cruise. Doing it this way though gives us plenty of time to tweak things and not be too hectic. I hope that the last 3 or 4 months till the cruise will just be putting everything planned on cruise control.

Jeff~ The new version of the magnet is great! Love the 2 US flags at each end! The top & bottom border looks very clean design wise. How about a castle ( like bonzie1 has in his signature ) on each side of the map- for the Kingdom to Kingdom thing?

The deck plan key for the DIS rooms is very clever! Keep up the great work!

Isn't it crazy???? And most of us have cruises before that one! Mine is less than a month away and all I can think about is the Panama Canal cruise! Must get focused on the June trip!

Yep, we've got so much planned before the PC, but just the thought of my parents, sister, brother, and their spouses going with the DH and myself is enough cause for excitement. We are experienced Disney'ers, they are not. I'm just excited to see their reactions and that they have a great time, I just can't stand it!

Today I sent them all postcards with a picture of the Magic on the front with 1 year from today, that's us on that ship! They should get them on Friday the 14th. That will be so fun.

Well, I found the exact disney font. Its called newport classic.

Course the problem is, its a pay font and frankly I have issues paying $40 for a font for one sign.

Jen has a TON of fonts on her computer at home, so I'll look through there and see if I can find it, but if not I'll just hack the C and the S over.

I'm working on adding the castles and should have the image updated soon.

I actually have a web page at home with all the fonts used by Disney, it's 1/2 and 1/2 pay vs free. If there is a pay font, they usually have a free font similar.

Once again updated with the castles. I tried changing the date fonts but it just really was a tad much right now using the Walt script for the magic kingdom. The magic kingdom itself is usually written in a very VERY heavily modified version of bookman and isn't special at all, and most people associate the Walt Disney World font with the magic kingdom, so I used that. Since that is also used for the word Disney in Disney cruise line, I thought it was getting very heavy usage.

Just my opinions though.

http://www.tiggerfan.net/canal/door2.html for the updated design.

Probably my last modification for the day as I need to head home soon and other work related stuff calls :)

Hi Everyone!

I've just been catching up on my reading. This thread has grown! It’s nice seeing everyone so excited about the cruise already. :Pinkbounc

So far it seems like we are the only "newbies" on this cruise. A little bit about us:

My name is Jindy; I am 29 (will be 30 at cruise time) and a single parent. My daughter will be 7 this July, which means she will be 1 and a 1/2 months shy of her 8th bday when we cruise. I am not sure yet where she'll fit in as far as the Oceaneer's Club goes. She may feel to big for the 5-7 age group, and I think the activities in the 8-9 group would appeal to her more. I guess we'll play it by ear for now. A friend of mine, who frequents these boards and has cruised with DCL twice, mentioned that sometimes kids will message each other and become friends even before the cruise via the boards. So if anyone is interested in our kids becoming "email" pen pals, feel free to PM me.

As far as visiting Disneyland after the cruise is concerned, I'm not sure yet. Our Annual Passes expire May 9th, 2005 - and I am not sure if I'll be renewing them next year. The resort will be very crowded due to the 50th and the new attractions, but you also have to remember that Disneyland's hours are 8am - midnight (on Holidays); so there is always time for everything. California Adventure, on the other hand, usually runs from 10am-10pm. So you just have to plan your day accordingly. We always go on the 4th of July, and no matter how crowded it is - we manage to do everything.

The nice thing about DL and DCA (the entire resort, really), for those of you have never been there, is how close everything is. When an off-property hotel states that they are "across the street", they mean that they are literally across the street. You cross the crosswalk and one minute later you're entering either DL or DCA. The Grand Californian is also a minute walk from both parks' main entrances. The Disneyland Hotel is "far" (well, "far" for us because we're so spoiled here!) from the main entrance of the parks as it is a whopping 5 to 6-minute walk through Downtown Disney before you reach the Esplanade! You could take the monorail, but the wait is longer than the walk. Paradise Pier is also "far" at about 4 minutes from DCA's entrance. With everything being so close, you should also note that there is no real benefit to staying on-property, as the prices will be very high. You don't get into the parks earlier or anything like that. And the "private" entrance from the Grand Californian into DCA can be used by anyone who cuts through the lobby. But, by all means, if you can afford to stay there - do so. It is a gorgeous hotel! I personally have never stayed there, because it's way out of my price range, but it is beautiful. So it's up to you - $79 bucks to stay across the street or $330+ to stay at the GC. Although after 14 nights on the Magic, I'm not sure anybody can handle staying at a $79/night hotel!

Anyway, as you can tell, we are really big fans of Disneyland (it's a 5-6 hour drive from San Jose to Anaheim) and I would be totally willing to give you guys any tips regarding DL and DCA. Maybe we can start a new thread just about the DL Resort on 5/28/05?? Hopefully you'll all reciprocate with some DCL tips for me!!!

Jin, we'll definitely give you all the DCL hints we can muster.

In terms of door signs, I just found a much better alternative. For $15 office depot sells 5 magnetic 8 1/2 x 11 inkjet signs. I'll probably buy a package to test and see how well they actually work, but if they do, the cost is pretty much the time it takes me to change the name and print them out.

That makes everything *WAY* easier and *WAY* nicer.

Obviously we've got a while to keep tweaking the design around till a majority of people are happy. The rest of you get to deal with it :)

First real question though. Does everyone like the map? Reason is, if I'm going to blow this up to 8 1/2 by 11, the map needs to get cleaned up. Its going to take a while, and if we KNOW it will be part of the final magnet, I'm going to go start work on that.

Jindy-welcome to the boards. We are excited to have you join us! I totally agree with you about DL. I grew up in Southern California and we visit now at least once per year either by flying into John Wayne or driving down. We don't stay on site either, not worth the cost since we stay in the parks geneally from opening til closing!

The Fairfield Inn is cheap, convenient and right across the cross walk, and generally a real good deal.

anyway, got to get back to work. Welcome again.

Linda

Personally, I love the map. It was your use of it as the logo on the "who's going" page that made me think of it. I just think it's such a neat image that pretty much sums up the voyage (and I can feel like Indiana Jones!) Of course it's making more work for you but I never said I was low maintenance or anything!

I also love the castle silhouettes. The only tweak I would suggest is putting the word "from" on a separate line so that each "kingdom" word is next to its castle (though that may just mess up everything else taking up that extra space, and it's not that big a deal!). I love how you picked the same color as the land on the map for the words "kingdom" and I love having the US Flag in all 4 corners.

Jindy, sounds like a fair deal! We have never been to DL but are very much looking forward to it. The upside of a holiday weekend is fantasmic every night, yay!

Jeff:

Love the castles!!!!

I don't want Lisa to feel like she is the only one giving you feedback, so here is mine:

The only thing I would change is take out the "th" and just have May 14-28, 2005 instead.

I love it even if you don't make my suggested change, I just didn't want Lisa to be the only one giving you feedback!!!!!

Yes! But it does get very, very crowded. People start camping-out for spots hours before the first showing. The other alternative is to pay for premum viewing, and then you avoid having to sit in one spot all day for the best view.
