I guess everyone is really busy lately. It's been kind of slow around here! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Hope everyone is having decent weather too!

Kim

Yeah, I think you're right Kim...I know there are several of us preparing for the Christmas cruise. I've been seeing some of our folks posting to that thread more lately.

But where is Scott? And Bob? and Jeff? Are they just going to let us ladies chat it up? I'm here for another week before we fly off to FL, so I'll keep stopping in until then. After we get there, I'm not sure what kind of time I'll have to drop in.

Have a great weekend all. Stay warm.

Since you were wondering, I'm here. I was't going to post anything, just checking things out. Been too busy. Next week too. Vacation.

"One more is never enough!"

I guess its always busy this time of year anyway! Work has really picked up too :guilty: and I always go broke this time of year! :charac2: Does anyone feel sorry for me yat? hehehe! Karaeric- you should have great weather when you arrive in FL. It has been in the 70's here with a high of 80! Its perfect! This is why I love Florida and after all the bad weather, we deserve a perfect weather card! My husband worked in Port Charlotte yesterday and said it still looks like a war zone! He got lost several times due to there still is not many street signs. He was putting hurricane shutters on a condo that barely has a roof! They have a parking lot in the town that FEMA has brought in a bunch of trailers for those that have lost thier homes! Those are the ones who I really feel sorry for at Christmas time! Well on that cheery note, have a great weekend everyone!!!

Kim, you don't know how happy I am to hear you say the weather's been great!! We have been freezing (at night, litterally), which is unusual for us this time of year. I could really use some fabulous weather.

It's funny that you mention that your DH was working in Port Charlotte. My grandmother lived in Port Charlotte, was displaced by Hurricane Charlie. She lived at South Port Square, which I understand made national news because they had to move all 960 residents out of the heavily damaged buildings. Right now she's staying at a hotel up in Tampa, where we will be visiting her for a couple of days very shortly!

I'm here, just mega mega busy at work, got a whole lot more responsibility dumped on me, such is life or at times lack there of due to work. Lynn's B-day was 12/1 so I had some commitments there. Enough of this makes my thoughts turn to warm climates and the open seas. We get to go diving in Feb, yeah!!!, Will start teaching SCUBA classes after the first of the year, so will be busy there. Man am I rambling, Still putting up Christmas decoration, glad they are all inside.

Ended up getting a Garmin GPS, and learning how to use it, pretty simple but can do a whole lot more that I think I will ever use. Will learn how to down load maps to it this weekend.

Some snow and still pretty cold here 10 above this AM.

Given all the shutter bugs we will have on this cruise we should produce some pretty neat results. Given we are at the cusp of the fast rising digital age what will a shutter bug be called in the future when the only place a camera shutter can be viewed will be in the Smithsonian?

Also got a portable CD burner for photo storage, will try to learn how to use it before out Feb trip.

Gotta wrap Lynn's Christmas presents today while she is at work.

Enjoy the weekend,

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in awhile.

We return last weekend from our 7 night Thanksgiving Disney Cruise. The ship was so beautifully decorated for the holidays.

I have sent our information to tigfanjeff to be added to the cruise page. Thank you Jeff, for doing this for us!

I was wondering if anyone, that has kids about my children ages, (DD 11, DS 9, DS 7, DD 5) would be interested in exchanging emails with each other. I was thinking it would be great for them to have a "buddy", before we even get there.

dianthus & moocow35 - We just moved back to CA, after living in Ridgefield, CT for 2 years. My children will really miss the snow! They keep asking if it will snow here in CA.

-Cindy

Hi Cindy! I'm sure the kids miss the snow, but do you? LOL Funny, I'm originally from Southern California, and still hate the winters here. If everything goes the way I have planned, I will be moving to Florida September of next year. Enough of this cold, ice and snow! Ridgefield is very close to where I live.

Welcome to our group, I can't believe that we are fast approaching the Holidays, and then the countdown really begins!

Robin

Digital Camera users, here is a device you may be interested in. It is the Apacer Disk Steno CP-200. Basically it is a CD burner, media card reader, DVD player, spare CD RW drive. For those who don't want to take a laptop.

I have a product called Digital Album, a portable 40gig hard drive that we have used in the past when a laptop was not practical. The afore mentioned product might be a good addition for those occasions.

Hope all are having a great weekend.

Jeff and I are here, but this week is nuts. We will add/ update as soon as we can. but it won't be for a week or so. We have our amazing race through Disney next week, and since Jennifer and Dave have posted it to their website, it's safe to tell ya'll, we have been working with the Passporter folks on a comprehensive Scavenger Hunt of WDW. That has sucked up almost our entire summer. In a week with the race over and the book to Jennifer and Dave, we will be getting our lives back!

As much as I love digital, there is nothing like developing your own B&W film, doing the pictures just so and then messing around with Marshall paints and sepia....

Karaeric- We are only about 15 minutes from Pt. Charlotte. I guess my husband said that where your Grandmother lives is near where he worked. He worked in Fisherman's Village, but has done work in her area too.

Jindy- Let Adrienne know that Kaylin mailed her out a little something this morning, so she has something to look forward to in the mail! Kaylin tells everyone at school that her new best friend lives in N.Y. and her name is Alice. She is the worst at names and places! I have to keep telling her that it's California and her name is Adrienne! One of these days she will get it right. Hopefully by cruise time!

Hope everyone has a great week! I have been dreading this week all weekend. I really wish I would'nt have looked at this weeks schedule on Friday! All I can say is I hope the time goes by quick! :guilty:

Kim

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Welcome Disneycruising! You aren't far from us at all. I know Jindiesel (Jindy) is also close, and she has a DD about 8, if I remember correctly. We should try to set up a meet before the cruise! Of course, it will have to be after the holidays at this point.

Scott, I knew you couldn't resist getting the GPS! Do you mind me asking which model you got? I was looking at a bunch of the Garmin GPSs in the paper this weekend - at least I think there were several...

Only four days left and I'm off to FL and the 10-day cruise... :cheer2: Sorry to get excited, but at least you all understand!

Cheers, Kara

Jen, Can't wait for the book should be great and a fun project for future trips.

Kara, I ended up with the Garmin Map76CS. Will play with it during our February trip sailing the Bahama Out Islands.

Should be busy at work this week, and the road T,W, and TH, so might get caught up then.

Jeff and Jen, will there be a book signing whilst on the cruise????

waiting for Jen and Jeff's sequel, Wine Pairings Around the World.

We can do that Catherine on your next trip.... Have you ever done the drinking and driving tour of epcot????

I really like the new WYSIWYG format of the boards :cool1:

I have done both the Drink & Drive and the Brew & Spew (Mission Space after margaritas, although "Margarita & Spew" doesn't rhyme) on my own after hanging around in Epcot for a day. No spewing, though. I am apparently immune to motion sickness.

Nice holiday colors, Jen.

I've got this megatrip January 14-26... let's do a "tour n' pour" then sometime... I don't think we'll have much time this weekend but I will probably want to throw down a couple glasses of something after the race. Or maybe during the race. ha.

I haven't read much of this thread but I did get an email yesterday from a thread on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcl_magic_westbound_panama/
saying they had read on 'Spaceflightnow.com' that the Shuttle's return to flight is scheduled to lift-off on May 14th around 4pm, the day we leave
Port Canaveral. What a GREAT way to start off our cruise! I don't
know if they (DCL) will delay the departure time due to to shuttle
activities, either way, we'll have a front row seat for the launch!

CNN has been on saying that the shuttle is due to take off sometime in May or June. That would be really cool if they do take off the day we depart!

Catherine, we're ending the race in a bar as always so don't worry... as for your megatrip, we will have to get together then!
Great news about the shuttle, but bad. Traffic around the port will be horrible. Might be getting there at 2 am or something....
