Celeste,

I picked up the African Nectar yesterday along with a green tea w/jasmine (I forget the name and I'm too lazy to go downstairs and check!)

DS, Sean, loves tea, so he is very excited about the new additions. He wants more with CAFFIENE though!

Well, you can tell Sean that the green has some- better than none, if that is what he is looking for.

How's the weather out there?

First tropical storm of the season is over cuba- Arlene.

I hope all of you in Florida are okay this weekend!

Glad the Magic in on the West coast.

Elaine,

I missed it if it was on tonight... I've been watching the scrapbooking stuff on QVC... dangerous!

Arlene is headed north of us, supposed to hit between the far west of the panhandle and Alabama, but not get stronger than a tropical storm, I hope. Hopefully this will be the only named storm this year... Wishful thinking, I know... Port Orleans has a sign up sheet asking for people to volunteer for ride-out crews... I don't think my panic would be a helpful addition to the situation, though! Thanks for the good wishes!

We sat down with the final bill from the ship :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 and we discovered that instead of crediting me $51 they charged me!!! :headache:

I know that we should have checked it before we left, but it was on some final things, (we checked the bill the day before). So now we have to talk to DCL and hope they will credit us!

Got our Panama post card today at work!! :hourglass :Pinkbounc

Whatever you would like to name us is fine with me :)

And gee... guess where I am going for training this weekend.... Pensacola!!!

Right into Tropical Storm Arlene. We have a saying at Red Cross Disaster Services "You are going to have a bad day when..... Jim Cantore is broadcasting live from your city". One of my volunteers called me this afternoon to tell me..... "Guess what, Jim Cantore is broadcasting from Pensacola Beach" :rolleyes1

So we may not be training, but working.

Have a great weekend all

Lesley, I do have pics, but I won't be posting them! I was threatened under pain of banning from the boards by a "certain" webmaster, remember?

Kara I would not Worry About the Banning Thing Just Post the pictures..
a "certain" webmaster, cant ban everyone..

The show on the Panama Canal on the Discovery Channel was really cool. It was part of a series called "Extreme Engineering" and called "Widening the Panama Canal". The show focused on the widening of the Panama Canal to accommodate the new cargo ships which are 3 times wider and twice as long as a regular cargo ship. Apparently they have two differnt design teams working on the widening of the canal and the building of the new locks. They also showed a pilot taking a cargo ship through the canal. It was really cool to see the canal and to know that I had seen it all with my own eyes. If you missed it (or it wasn't on in your area) check it out, it was a great show and it brought back a lot of memories.

Trivia question for the day - if the Panama Canal was to close for 1 day, how much money would they lose? Hint: Think :earseek:

That is exactly what I told him! :sunny:

We have had rain the last two days, which is surprising for us at this time of year! It finally cleared up tonight for a beautiful sunset!

Debbie, that would be OJT for sure. Good Luck.

Elaine, about 2 mill a day would be lost.

Maybe the good weather is heading our way. That would be very welcome.

No Post Cards here.

Thanks for letting us know Elaine! I just searched and it looks like it will be on again on the 15th at 10pm and again at 1am (Pacific) on the Discovery Channel. I just set my DVR to record it!

Thanks again!

I'm actually guessing no money would be lost since the tolls are pre-paid

I've been meaning to tell you all a funny story from embarkation day. After the safety drill, I was out in the hallway decorating our cabin door. While I was out there, a (non-DIS) family walked by and saw what I was doing, and the husband muttered under his breath to his wife, "Must be one of those lanyard people." Ha ha! So now we're "Those Lanyard People!".

A week into the cruise I helped Bette, kim, and Bill (3-Dan) distribute some pirate bags containing, among other things, KTTW holders on lanyards to some residents of Deck 2 just to enlarge the "Lanyard" group.....

Steve...thanks for posting the information for the others. Let me know what you think of the show. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Correct!!!!!!!!

I dont think anything would be lost ultimately as the ships would still want to go through t5he Canal and would just wait as it would be quicker than taking the 8000 mile detour. However if the Canal was closed for a long period of time that would be different

(Felt like being argumentative today,Elaine, you know what accountants are like)

Okay, Peter, you are a BAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDD Man! Now I'm hooked on that silly thread you pointed us to. Geez, had me giggling.

Well, let's just say that our pictures will be posted to a public sight for all to view if they choose. The mystery will be to see if those pub night photos make it in there...

Renae, were you hearing stories about the American pub night or the English pub night? Both were funny, but Regina and Gary had a little performance in the American pub night. We have full video coverage of the English pub night performance! :rotfl: But that was all the DCL crew.

Kara,

I don't know which pub night it was, but it was the one with Regina and Gary, the 'anniversary' couple...
